Have you tried actually asking your 5 year old if she can open it for you? Grin

mumonashoestring · 04/02/2017 11:03

I reckon they superglue a few bottles in every batch, or don't put the screw thread in the cap or something - just for fun.

QuestionableMouse · 04/02/2017 11:05

Give it a whack with something heavy. Even if you still can't get into it, it'll make you feel better.

LuluJakey1 · 04/02/2017 11:13

Put a hole in the bottom and decant it into another bottle?

Apparently a drawing pin helps suitable the child lock on these push and turn things, though I have never tried it... www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-Evil-Childproof-caps-easy-to-open/

celeste84 · 04/02/2017 12:31

Try wrapping a rubber band around the bottle cap, so that when you push down and twist you have more grip on the bottle cap.

gamerchick · 04/02/2017 12:32

Give the lid a whack on the floor a few times and then try.

SmileEachDay · 04/02/2017 12:45

Oh god THE RELIEF.

I used a spoon. Wedged it under until it clicked. Then whoosh. Straight off with a ladylike press of my palm.

Yay Smile will you risk putting the lid back on?

liquidrevolution · 04/02/2017 12:50

If ypu decant it make sute its clearly marked bleach and put out of reach of liytle hands.

Push down and turn. Will take a few goes and your hand will hurt like buggery...

RandomDent · 04/02/2017 12:57

Ooh my whole body sighed with relief at the picture of,the open bottle. These stories were stressing me out!

Goodasgoldilox · 04/02/2017 13:00

Deathraystare - I have seen that happen in my own house.

Child lock = lock only a child can open.

SmileEachDay · 04/02/2017 13:06

I'm just going to have to use it all in one session.

I always used to moan about those heat sealed plastic packaging you get on stuff that needs at a minimum a pair of scissors to open, and even then its challenging. I think my defining moment was when I was out and about and my phone was dying so bought an in car charger...20 friggin minutes I was trying to hack at it.

So when my Mum was in the US she very proudly bought me a little gagdet for getting into this friffin packaging...only it was in said sealed in plasticness of hell. When I eventually go it out it was a Stanley knife blade with a bit of plastic wrapper round it that broke...it went in the bin

QuestionableMouse · 04/02/2017 13:27

Apparently a tin opener works on those plastic clamshell packages.

I'd like to see them done away with all together actually. Less waste in landfill, and no bloody frustration try to get into the packet.

NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 04/02/2017 13:32

I thought that said Lidl Beach and was trying to work out where in the world it was and why the fuck it would have a child lock Hmm

liz70 · 05/02/2017 09:52

"I thought that said Lidl Beach"

So did I, but didn't want to say. in case everyone laughed at me
I thought the OP had driven there with her kids, and the child lock on the car door was stuck.

NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 05/02/2017 11:13

liz70

Glad it wasn't just me. At least you were clever enough to think of child locks on the car. I was imagining some kind of childproof gates on a beach Hmm

SmileEachDay · 05/02/2017 12:54

You'd need one at the entrance to the beach and one across the sea, surely?

NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 05/02/2017 14:34

Grin in case of child pirates?

SmileEachDay · 05/02/2017 18:07

Well, quite Newt.

And grown up pirates who can't work child locks...
