To buy a new tv and possible washer dryer?

I have came into some money and i have decided to put the majority away for a car for when i pass my driving test. This money will be going to my mum for safekeeping.
Im going to keep some of it for myself to use in the meantime. I was thinking of buying a new tv as the one i have the now is getting on a bit. I currently have a washing machine but no tumble drier and only have an airer and my radiators for drying clothes so thought a washer drier would be ideal for me. Wibu to buy these items even if there is still life in the ones i have just now?

No I had a tax credits back payment and got a washer drier it was a reconditioned one there was plenty of life in my washer but I was sick of the house being full of airers and the radiators covered with wet clothes. I gave my old washer to my eldest who had recently moved out.

Thats my thinking behind the washer drier as im fed up with clothes taking ages to dry. Plus i dont have a space for a stand alone drier in my kitchen and with a 19 month old ds i do crazy amounts of washing

I got a washer dryer because we needed a new washer and I wanted the dryer space for shelving. I'm not happy with it. I can't change back to washer so we use the washer part only but the dryer isn't good. Takes too long to dry clothes. We got the Lakeland Dry Soon stand instead (triple with timer) and we're so happy with it. Drys clothes quickly, folds very flat so takes up little space when not in use.

Washer dryers are expensive and rubbish - either buy a dryer only or don't bother.

Although if i could find a smallish dryer that didnt need a hose that could fit in a cupboard or alcove id be happy with that option too

carol i only have enough space for a washing machine as my kitchen is really small

Could you fit a dryer in your bedroom? Not the most aesthetically pleasing but works well in practice, especially if you get a condenser.

We put a condenser tumble drier in our bedroom - it's been an absolute god send!

Do not buy a washer dryer they are awful i had mine for 2 years and hated it from the day i brought it. Buy a condenser tumble dryer instead.

Washer driers are shite. Get a decent tv and a couple of heated driers or install a heated towel rail in the bathroom.

I've got a washer dryer and it is shit. It does dry the clothes it cooks them. They take forever, shrink and come out stinking. I only use the washer part now and have a separate dryer.

I bought a new build flat that came with a fitted kitchen including a washer/dryer. I always felt like it simply warmed the clothes up! Highly recommend a condenser dryer. Yanbu to buy a couple of things to make your life easier with the money though Smile

Seems washer dryers arent the great thing they are made out to be. I like the idea of the heated drying rail too

Do condenser dryers come in different sizes? Or are they all washing machine size?

We had a condenser dryer in our living room in a previous flat and I would not recommend it as the air that comes out is still very humid and we had lots of condensation on the windows when using it (I ended up using it only during the day with windows open).
I now use several sturdy stainless steel sock airers for clothes. They can go out on the line or on the over the door hooks of the kitchen door when raining.
But of course OP, it's up to you how you want fo spend your money. YANBU.

I have a washer dryer and to start with I hated it. Now I do an extra spin on the load and soak up any water that hasn't drained properly at the front of the door then it's good to go. A bit of a pain but I didn't have space for separates and the condensation from drying on the radiators was causing mould and damp patches in the rooms.

My house is quite bad with condensation as it is perhaps a condenser dryer may not be ideal. If this is the same airer mentioned upthread that looks like it would be able to sit upstairs out the way

Lakeland heated airer is amazing. Dries stuff really well, doesn't use too much power and also slightly heats the room too.

Have had washer dryer in the past when renting and just felt like I used to get hot wet washing out unless run for a very long time

They look pretty sturdy compared to some of the airers ive seen sisters is a prime example
