To wear children's clothes even though I'm in my late 40s? (Pic)

Both the jeans and the top are from Tesco, 13-14 years boys' (I haven't tried on any girls' stuff, I don't like fitted tops... or fitted anything, really). So much cheaper than adult clothes, and I think they look cool. Blush Oh, and I already have some 13-14Y knickers from ASDA, I think they were £2.50 a pack. They are baby pink Hmm but no one at work will see that. Grin Anyway, I haven't actually bought this outfit, but this weekend I might just explore the children's clothes section in a few supermarkets. AIBU?

Aren't the girls pants uncomfortable though?
No, they are exactly like the size 10 ladies' ones from Sainsbury's (which, I admit are almost the same shade of pink Grin - it's not that I like pink underwear, it's that they are the ones left in sales...)

Not at all unreasonable! I wear men's shoes because they're wider than women's and are therefore much more comfortable. If it fits and you like it, wear it!

littleme2017 · 03/02/2017 20:01

YANBU.

If it fits and you are comfy in it then go ahead.

I frequently do with shoes, I'm only a size four and last summer bought a lovely pair of flats and a lovely pair of sandals for much cheaper in the kids/teens sections.

MrsJaniceBattersby · 03/02/2017 20:02

I'm jealous tbh

fruitbats · 03/02/2017 20:02

I've recently bought myself a Ted Baker shirt from the men's section. And what? It doesn't really matter does it? Enjoy

kennycat · 03/02/2017 20:02

I have a pack of sainsbury children's v neck jumpers in navy age 12. They are great for slinging on over a fitted t shirt or vest . They wash brilliantly, you can't tell I've been virtually living in one for about a year. If it ever gives up I'll go on to the second one in the pack unless one of my children (currently aged 2 and 4) get to the point of needing them for school.
Bargainous they were, as I got them on a 25% off deal.

I have been thinking that maybe I'll start getting more children's clothes as they are way cheaper and fit me. So in answer to your post OP, I think you are the very opposite of unreasonable. I think you're a money saving genius.

MrsJayy · 03/02/2017 20:06

Im 4ft 11 i wear tescos boy cargo style trousers bloody comfy. If you like it wear it can't see the harm.

MrsJayy · 03/02/2017 20:08

Oh and i am a size 2 shoe so you know needs must. I mostly wear boys boots or unisex trainers

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 03/02/2017 20:08

Don't see the issue. Plus no VAT.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 03/02/2017 20:10

I generally buy kids hats as womens are too big and when I was thin I'd buy some teen clothes too

BusterGonad · 03/02/2017 20:10

I agree with Bewty the outfit doesn't really give you a feminine shape but if you are happy and comfortable in it then there is no problem at all.

Cailleach · 03/02/2017 20:11

I do this all the time now - ebay is a great source of teenage kids stuff!

brokenheartdog · 03/02/2017 20:11

I wore some boys stuff when I was thin. Who cares.

passingthrough1 · 03/02/2017 20:13

Haha I buy children's clothes sometimes. I think I'm the height of a 12yo girl anyway Hmm The only thing is they aren't made for people with adult curves so I find they are either too tight or too big, never right. I was very tempted by a Barbour jacket in girls sizes recently but the waist was at a really weird point.

WorraLiberty · 03/02/2017 20:14

YANBU. I'm not sure why you're asking?

I often wear my DS14's hand-me-ups, although he's too tall now for me to wear his jeans.

I've been wearing his old Parka coat since November Grin

MrsJayy · 03/02/2017 20:18

Primark men hoodies are comfier than womens me and the dds wear those

If I wasn't so fat I would look in the childrens section for things like jeans/leggings because adult ones are always far too long in the leg for me! (4 '11)

EweAreHere · 03/02/2017 20:28

You'll save loads if you can find clothes you like!

cowshindtail · 03/02/2017 20:28

I wear a lot of boys/mens clothes and footwear-even boys underpants. Both my partner and myself are on the small size and wear a lot of children's clothes.I recently bought him a 13/14 year old boy's shirt off ebay and collected it as I was also collecting other items. When the lady held it up for inspection I said that it might be a bit big whereupon she said that he should grow into it.I explained that at nearly 60 this was unlikely.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 03/02/2017 20:29

Wear what makes you feel comfortable.
I favour mens cotton pajamas and I can sometimes get kids shoes in my size.

SuperFlyHigh · 03/02/2017 20:31

My friend who is a size 6-8 and 5ft something (really petite) always used to get combat trousers and other girls clothes in eg H&M kids dept due to the no VAT.

You couldn't tell they were kids clothes either.

Good on you!

SpartacusWoman · 03/02/2017 20:39

I often buy clothes and shoes from the kids section.

I find it difficult finding any clothes in a size four, never mind stylish clothes and almost all of my clothes are for 13 olds, I used to be embarrassed about it as sometimes friends would say i must look like a prebuescant girl rather than a woman, but as I've gotten older IDGAF. I can buy more clothes as they are much cheaper and if anything, the dresses and more fancier clothes look better as they fit where they should. Eg, on the rare occasion I find a nice size four top in the woman's section, they are often not in proportion breast wise so they have small waist and and arms and the extra fabric around the chest for big tits, whereas a teenage girls top matches the other measurements if that makes sense?

Ive had some lovely pairs of boots for half the price of adult women shoes too. Discovered that kids sections include size four when trying to buy school boots for dd and bought myself some instead :)

GreatScot8 · 03/02/2017 20:42

I see no problem with it!

It's a lot bloody cheaper, so I'm a bit envious! Grin

ToastieRoastie · 03/02/2017 20:42

I'm 5ft2 and size 8/10 - I have tried children clothes loads of times but the shaping is always a bit off. I have boobs and hips (and a big tummy) and the clothes are generally cut for flatter shapes.

If it fits you and you like the style, why would it be unreasonable?
