Another poo at nursery thread?! Sorry!

Just wondered if this is normal...

My son is 4 and goes to nursery two days a week. The first thing he does EVERY day when I collect him and bring him home (at 6) is go to the loo for a poo. Daughter is 2 and still in nappies and she is the same, will never poo during the day. Half an hour or so in the house and inevitably she will poo!

I don't make a deal of this at all, but I have asked my son once or twice and he'll say "I don't like pooing at X (nursery). There are no other issues and he goes happily to the nursery.

Is it a thing that children like to poo in their own houses?

AIBU to wonder this?

Almost everyone prefers to poo at home. "Free pooing" is a minority sport. Wink

I'm 25 and only like to poo at home

user892 · 02/02/2017 21:42

Yes - it's a thing - many children and adults prefer to poo in their own familiar homes.

Doesn't necessarily mean they feel inhibited or unsafe elsewhere - it's usually more subconscious than that.

Imavinoops · 02/02/2017 21:42

Pooing at home is much more relaxing that pooing out and about. My DS rarely poos at nursery too. I think it's fairly normal tbh.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 02/02/2017 21:43

Yes it's common and some of us never grow out of it!

dementedpixie · 02/02/2017 21:43

I'm the same, I don't like pooing in public toilets and unless desperate will wait until I get home to do it

EyesOfBlue · 02/02/2017 21:44

I prefer to poo at home too!

I didn't think children would notice but maybe they do!

Ds is the same!

catddu · 02/02/2017 21:47

My DD doesn't poo at nursery often either and generally goes once at home.

My daughter is 3, has been potty trained well over a year and has never once done a poo at nursery.
