Adam Hills quoted a speech from Frederick Douglass (the civil rights campaigner who neither Trump or Angry Spice seemed to know who he was). The speech may have been made over 120 years ago but feels very relevant these days:

I'm still trailing this thread, but wanted to chip in on the astroturfing discussion. When I first joined MN the 'keep on vaping' threads screamed tobacco industry astroturfing to me. I'm still surprised they were allowed to stand.

merrymouse · 04/02/2017 09:46

He says he takes the medicine for his prostrate.

Either way, apparently there are side effects that would make many people think twice about taking it purely for hair loss.

merrymouse · 04/02/2017 09:47

Aaaahrgh! HIS DOCTOR says he takes for HAIR LOSS.

The point is that might be to cover up dishonest claims about his health.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 04/02/2017 09:52

Good for you bigly,

I thought trump promised no holidays when in office?

Deejoda · 04/02/2017 09:53

Alternative facts about Twitler's health and medication. Hardly surprisingHmm

merrymouse · 04/02/2017 09:54

I'm very suspicious that it's an excuse to get away from people who they think are leaking to the press.

FantasticButtocks · 04/02/2017 10:03

This the best thread. Really. But it has fallen off my I'm On threads...so I'm place marking again. Thank you for keeping all this info coming Flowers

GingerIvy · 04/02/2017 10:11

merry I wondered about that too.

Formerpigwrestler9 · 04/02/2017 10:14

Side effects of the drugs he takes for his hair would tend to suppress his 'alpha male' characteristics, they block the enzyme which converts testosterone into dihydro testosterone.

However the effects of hormones on behaviour vary from person to person, and who knows what other medication/substances he takes.

All that sniffing suggested he'd been snorting something, may use amphetamines or 'smart' drugs to help with alertness

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 04/02/2017 10:15

Thanks for sign suggestions. Unfortunately poorly dc2 meant there was no time for sign makin but I'm at Marble Arch waiting for some friends to set off.

Will look out for you bigly!

Formerpigwrestler9 · 04/02/2017 10:18

Dihydro testosterone is involved with prostate enlargement and male pattern baldness so 5 alpha reducatase inhibitors (finasteride etc) could be used for both/either

M0stlyBowlingHedgehog · 04/02/2017 10:22

Illegitimate - "I'm still trailing this thread, but wanted to chip in on the astroturfing discussion. When I first joined MN the 'keep on vaping' threads screamed tobacco industry astroturfing to me. I'm still surprised they were allowed to stand."

I thought that too. (There was a blatant piece of advertising in the form of a thread on laser fanjo rejuvenation, complete with sockie who came along to assure the OP she was doing absolutely the best thing ever.)

I'll arrive at the March at around 11 if the underground is kind.

So
"2.7 million bureaucrats employed by the federal government" do bad thing (in Trumpers' eyes)
"a federal judge in Washington State" does bad thing
but
"the Trump Justice Department" does good thing (per Trumpers)

Agree, this language is very deliberate.

ZebraOwl · 04/02/2017 10:45

Had been hoping to go on the march, but the cats didn't wake me up this morning (my DB, aka their butler, is here, and will give them breakfast at FarTooEarly o'clock, but they generally squeak in to me at the usual hour anyway - not expecting Second Breakfast, apparently they think it is Helpful...) so moving VERY quickly - if train+tube etc play nicely (Why Extend The Tube That Way, It's Only Poor People strikes again) I'd get to the Embassy about 1140ish. Which judging by Women's March would be ok, as it goes. However, given am only about just over the Lurgy I picked up on said March, it is possible that dragging my compromised immune system off to another one would not be the best plan. I reserve the right to sulk about this though...

Hope all goes well - and peacefully- for everyone there Smile

lionheart · 04/02/2017 10:50

The prostate/hair revelation is very odd.

originalmavis · 04/02/2017 10:51

Another thing that bothers me about this ban/not ban - I have family in the states who are very specialised in their respective medical fields.

It's not uncommon for them to travel to one of the 'bad countries' to treat patients or do operations. Remember that generations of young people scarpered abroad to get away from these regimes (one relative says that our of his year at uni all but a handful ended up in the US). So if they go to treat people abroad - anywhere actually - they can't go home to the US?

One was quizzed (a while ago) coming back into the states (where he lives and runs a practice) about why he had gone back to his country of birth. Unfortunately for him he said 'to carry our an operation'.

PausingFlatly · 04/02/2017 10:52

ThanksThanks to those of you out there today.

(I'm another who woke up this morning still not well enough to travel, and very disappointed.)
