to regret giving my postman a Christmas tip and confront him on Saturday am?

I do a fair bit of online shopping and shock horror, have a 9-5 job. I have told my postman (David W) to PLEASE LEAVE PARCELS AT THE DOOR (it's sheltered and not in view of the street) and I also have a yellow A4 sign to that effect permanently displayed. I thought we had an understanding now and gave him £10 at Christmas which he seemed very pleased with.

But lo and behold today, when I'm expecting a LARGE parcel, oh, I have a "sorry we missed you" card signed from him. It's not even a "signed for" parcel so why did he not just leave it at the door? Am I right to suspect he never had it with him in the first place?

I have booked a redelivery online for Saturday am. WIBU to ask for a refund of the tip?!!!

Yes, ask for it back. He's being pissy because £10 just isn't enough for Dave W (is Mrs DAve on here, perhaps she'd like to suggest a more appropriate gift).

Bellaposy - lol.

Tipping postman for advance work. No.

I thought this whole thread was a piss take involving some David Walliam's sketch I knew nothing about?

Can't believe OP is actually serious??

Get your parcels delivered to a local shop OP and pick them up on the way home.

I still don't get the "shock horror, I have a 9-5 job" bit of the post, what was that tantrum all about? Don't quite a few people have 9-5 jobs or am I missing something?

You tip the postie £10? misses point of thread

e1y1 · 02/02/2017 23:26

Firstly, it was a gift/tip, not a payment for service agreement.

Also, he has to follow the rules of his employer, and for the avoidance of doubt that is Royal Mail and not yourself.

So as thrilled as he would have seemed to be with your "gift", he won't risk his job for you or anyone (quite rightly too).

Slightly off topic - but we once received a delivery note saying 'parcel left in green bin' - unfortunately it was recycling collection day ... Boohoo were great in replacing the items

Haha yes have done that too QueSera
