To think Jehovah's Witnesses can become a bit of an annoyance

There are two ladies that often come round our estate. There are many others that also come, but this particular couple are the ones who seem to call the most.
As I'm a SAHM I'm usually at home when they call. I would never be deliberately rude to them, but I'm getting a bit annoyed by them continually coming to my house. They know I've recently had a baby as the first time they came I was pregnant. They even turned up the day I went into labour and DH answered the door to them!

Last time I saw them they were hinting at coming inside to meet the baby. How on earth do I politely tell them I'm not interested? Some of the others who have been don't seem to take no for an answer!

Say, 'I'm Catholic, sorry'?

GinIsIn · 02/02/2017 11:01

wantagoodname umm, that's a Wikipedia page. You know, the website where anyone can update it? It's not the Lancet and shouldn't be used as an example of medical science. Where is your "evidence" that doctors and nurses would refuse transfusion? Because I don't know a single one.

CaraAspen · 02/02/2017 11:01

"CockacidalManiac

If you did some research into it the chances of healing quicker with less chance of infection are so much higher without blood. In fact there are now many doctors and nurses who would refuse a blood transfusion.

Weird; none of the doctors or nurses that I know would accept that."

They are ignorant, that's why.
Yeah right.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 02/02/2017 11:01

Im not calling you a liar for the sake of it, but it is part of the 'teaching' that a man is the head of the household and that the woman stay at home after the birth of the children.

Are they devout? Regularly attend kingdom hall 3 times a week? Go on their ministry often?

Wantagoodname · 02/02/2017 11:02

Ah well will have to agree to disagree then.
As I said I have jw family and have spoken/ researched some of the beliefs.
At the end of the day you arnt one, don't have to speak to one and can ignore them or put a sign on your door. So don't get too het up

CaraAspen · 02/02/2017 11:03

They are quite simply barking. Look at the way - EVEN HERE - a couple of them have slithered out of the woodwork.

Wantagoodname · 02/02/2017 11:04

Ok Google bloodless surgery - many hospitals have a section about it they say similar

To think Jehovah's Witnesses can become a bit of an annoyance
Wantagoodname · 02/02/2017 11:04

Quicker recovery, less time in hospital

CaraAspen · 02/02/2017 11:04

You should not have to put a sign up on your door. End of.
Why should you go to that trouble because of weirdos like them?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 02/02/2017 11:04

You either are 1 or not, if you are not then I doubt they have much to do with you because that isnt the way

Talking about me by any chance??
Just because I don't agree with you?
I didn't know this was a slag of jehoveh witness thread only, thought it could be a debate. My mistake

CockacidalManiac · 02/02/2017 11:07

And severe anaemia requiring transfusion?
Burns?
Accidents?
What's the JW treatment for that?

Wantagoodname · 02/02/2017 11:07

It's hardly a trouble is it

JustAnotherPoster00 · 02/02/2017 11:07

They accept platelets but not blood is the common practice I believe

Phantommanflinger · 02/02/2017 11:08

Say you're late for your devil worship group and can't stop to talk.

CockacidalManiac · 02/02/2017 11:09

From the JW site;
'Members of this faith have deep religious convictions against accepting homologous or autologous whole blood, packed RBCs [red blood cells], WBCs [white blood cells], or platelets'

Whydidwedoit4times · 02/02/2017 11:11

I like the vicor meldrew approach.

Open the door 'hello/goodbye, close the door! Idiots.

CaraAspen · 02/02/2017 11:12

...slag off

CaraAspen · 02/02/2017 11:13

"Sentences are the building blocks used to construct written accounts. They are complete statements. Punctuation shows how the sentence should be read and makes the meaning clear. Every sentence should include at least a capital letter at the start, and a full stop, exclamation mark or question mark at the end."

Elphame · 02/02/2017 11:24

Even the do not call list doesn't work around here. Last time they called (after many many requests not to) I blessed them and their children and their children's children in the name of Lucifer the Lightbringer.

I'm hoping that has done the trick.

thetreesarebare · 02/02/2017 11:29

Justanotherposter is spot on. It's a horrendous cult. Dare to speak against anything or try to back away from them & you can potentially be outcast from everyone. They also believe the woman's place is in the home & should be well dressed. Kids very much discouraged from further ed. it's so backward it's unreal & kind of freaky.

UpWithPup · 02/02/2017 11:29

I just say I'm not interested because I go to (name local church). They usually offer me the magazine and I take it and day goodbye. It takes 2 minutes out of my day and they feel like they're going some good.

Wantagoodname · 02/02/2017 11:29

Wow arnt you patronising cara do you have any friends in real life?

JacquesHammer · 02/02/2017 11:42

Which they conveniently ignore.

Apparently peddling their religious claptrap means they're not bound by the "no cold callers" agreement in the neighbourhood.

I work from home. Why the fuck should I be interrupted for someone I haven't invited to my home?
