Oh merry

I know its not funny...but that 'first they came for Australia' quote has me giggling away

And i love Seb Dance

originalmavis · 02/02/2017 09:11

You know how he supposedly doesn't drink? Those tweets.... I think he hits the late night babycham.

Lweji · 02/02/2017 09:15

Hopefully other countries like Australia will start to close US military bases.

My country has one US base. I wonder at what point we'll need to start protesting against it.

Roussette · 02/02/2017 09:22

He's getting worse. Telling Aus PM.. "you're sending us more Boston Bombers". Trump really is a vile human being isn't he... and as far as him tweeting and it should stop.

NO! We want him digging a big hole, we want it out in the open and the US people seeing his disregard for human life, his rudeness, his completely out of control actions and tweeting about it. Let's keep it out in the open and the process for getting rid of him might then be quicker. If it goes under the radar it will be worse.

I bet there are Reps who have started leaking what is going on to journos more and more.

I imagine a smoky bar, a glass of jack daniels, one very shifty WH worker saying "Look, you cannot implicate me in this info..", the journo encouraging and hopeful for the biggest break in his life..
OK I've watched too many US boxsets Grin

Re the 1,200 refugees that the US agreed to take and Trump talking about them like they're not even human and just a package of trouble. Wouldn't it be wonderful if May stood up and said now to Aus PM... "please send the 1,200 refugees to the UK, we have opened our arms to them and they can build a good life with us here"
I can but dream.

BigBadgers · 02/02/2017 09:24

I just read this article about the role Putin has played in the rise of populism in the west and how the populist leaders have hitched their wagons to him. I find the whole Putin/Russia involvement fascinating and terrifying in equal measure. Putin's background means he has lives and breaths international espionage and influence. He runs rings around these guys who think he is so great and on their side.

It's a beautiful dream Rousette Grin

Just seen the best comment under the Graun article about Farage in the EU Parliament - with credit to 'Ermagerd' (whoever they may be):

“Trump is motivated by protecting the United States of America from Islamic terrorism"
I dunno - on the one hand US Naval Academy Graduate, War Veteran and chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee John McCain thinks Trump is helping to aid ISIS recruitment, but on the other hand, ex-City Boy and EU Parliament-Sponger Nigel Farage would disagree...?
It's so difficult to know which of them might know what he's talking about.

Brilliantly put.

cozietoesie · 02/02/2017 09:38

Oh that's good. Smile

MrDacresEUSubsidy · 02/02/2017 09:41

The West Wing is my favourite ever box-set series - it would be my desert island pick without a doubt. I pick it up every so often and watch it back-to-back. Still so relevant, fresh...and depressing because every time I watch it I wish it were true. Now more than ever I wish that Jed Bartlet, Toby, Josh and Leo were running the show - and that CJ was manning the press room.

MrDacresEUSubsidy · 02/02/2017 09:48

Do you think that anyone has ever told The Donald 'no'? He really does come across like a spoiled child who has never ever had anything other than their own way. And who consequently thinks that they must be right all the time.

He operates in the ultimate echo chamber; growing up stupidly rich and surrounded by people who said 'yes' to everything he wanted. Running his 'businesses' surrounded by people who said 'yes' to every idea not matter how poorly thought out they were - and if one failed then it was easy to lay the blame at someone else's feet, because who would argue with the billionaire who signs your paychecks?

Now he's in charge of the USA and is busy dispensing with everyone who isn't a flunky or smart enough to brown nose him. He's riding roughshod over the law, the constitution and seems utterly ignorant of the fact that these are people's lives he's playing games with. He's not intelligent enough to see that his strings are being pulled by Steve Bannon, who is playing him like a cheap fiddle - and that it is SO easy to do this because all you have to do is massage Trump's colossal ego. If it wasn't so terrifying it would be funny. You seriously couldn't make it up!

Oh FFS Seriously??

cozietoesie · 02/02/2017 09:52

I suspect he is his mother's son.

GingerIvy · 02/02/2017 09:53

mavis I suspect the late night tweets could be due to insomnia and sundowning (related to Alzheimers?)

Interesting take on the Yemen raid

Seems it didn't go as well as expected.....

Ginger

As long as someone meets the criteria to be eligible to nominate, they can nominate.

It doesn't mean that the person nominated will even get to the shortlist.

MistressMerryWeather · 02/02/2017 09:59

I occasionally lurk on these threads and thought you all might like this.

But then again I am very immature. Blush :o

fuckingwall · 02/02/2017 10:00

So now Donald can add nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize to his boasting?

cozietoesie · 02/02/2017 10:02

Oh that's fun. Smile

Formerpigwrestler9 · 02/02/2017 10:07

What a screaming clusterfuck
Very true MrDacres!

Could his apparent poor impulse control be some early dementia, or was he always like that?

BigBadgers · 02/02/2017 10:09

According to AFP the President is nominated by “an unidentified American” who wants him to be recognised for his “peace through strength ideology”.

Do you think it was Bannon or Spicer? I am assuming he can't nominate himself...

merrymouse · 02/02/2017 10:15

"Do you think that anyone has ever told The Donald 'no'?"

I think he was taught at a very young age that your only options are to bully or be bullied.

Roussette · 02/02/2017 10:21

Yes, way back on another thread there were two leading psychologists with podcasts talking about his character. He was taught to be like this by his father (the one who marched with the KKK) to win at all costs.
