To ask what price increase have you seen in you daily life in the last few months?

I am trying to come up with a list of these. I have noticed three in my own grocery/everyday expenses: Flour bag (nearly 6%), fare (5%) and bread (25-30% fr what i remember just a few days ago).
I suppose they were supposed to increase considering the loss of value for £ after Brexit vote. But I was too busy to take notice and only noticed these three.
Can we please try to document it somehow?

The oil price did almost double over the last year but in the year prior to that the price of a barrel of Brent Crude dropped from $100 approx to a low of $28.

caroldecker · 31/01/2017 16:01

Whilst prices have changed on individual items, the data says supermarket prices on average have fallen over the past 12 months.

Blobby10 · 31/01/2017 16:05

If you are prepared to shop around you can beat the price rises. Its only the petrol one which really gets my goat as the fuel price goes up even when the price of oil is rock bottom. Then as soon as the oil price moves up, so does petrol, even though it never actually came down!!

Unfortunately I remember the days when I could fill up my Mini (40 litre tank) for £10!! AND it would last me a couple of weeks! Now its around £55 to fill my Astra (60 litre tank) and it only lasts me 10 days

Erm dominoes stuffed crust has gone up by 50p Blush

dodgydonkeysdoodah · 31/01/2017 16:15

As a PP has said, in many case the packs have been made smaller / lighter instead, to head off actual price rises.
The printer I use at work has just had to pass on a rise in paper costs. They buy their paper from eastern Europe in € and the change in the exchange rate has made a huge difference to their business model. We will be paying c. 5% more from the start of the new financial year.

Angelika321 · 31/01/2017 16:28

Aveeno cream. I used to get it for £10 a tube off Amazon and it's now £15. I suppose it's imported from the US hence the price increase.

TheNaze73 · 31/01/2017 16:31

All these people saying petrol has gone up, need to get a grip & shop around. I always stick £60 in when I'm near to empty & still am putting £60 in

scaryclown · 31/01/2017 16:41

I don't know about the price, but since Trump was inorgourated, ASDA (Walmart) have been flying in Iceberg Lettuce from California.(LAX)

The irony being that the firm they use (T&A ..yes really!) are largely staffed by Mexican immigrant workers)

Madbengalmum · 31/01/2017 16:42

Noeffingidea, you clearly live up to your namesake.
You have no idea about my financial situation, and your comments are therefore very uncalled for.

Food prices have been kept artificially low by our supermarkets for sometime and at some point, like now, come the opprtunity for a price increase when there is a propbable excuse like brexit, and a fall in the pound, and a spike in demand on some items, and a terrible harvest in some countries. Brexit or not price rises are inevitable as the worlds population grows and pressure is put on resources.

And as i have said previously, oil has been low for years now. Prices fluctuate, and unless you are happy to purchase only what our country produces then you will have to pay it, or buy something else. End of.

I did similar with the Aveeno. I logged into Amazon.com (US site) and ordered the cream from there. I ended up spending £100 after delivery and customs charges but I paid that for 10 tubes so it was £10 each.

FannyDeFuzz · 31/01/2017 16:52

Wow, that's a lot of Aveeno. I've never tried it, is it very good then?

Bct23 · 31/01/2017 16:58

Fresh Tuna went up pretty much straight after Brexit

MrsMarigold · 31/01/2017 17:05

Butter and Diesel, last year it went down to 99p a litre now £1,22 that's a massive hike.

HaveCourageAndBeKind · 31/01/2017 17:11

My food shop has gone down since changing back to Tesco online from Aldi!

Aveeno Eczema Therapy is the one I buy as it's the only cream that works without resorting to steroid cream. I use the Aveeno Moisturising Cream which the GP prescribes for daily use on the kids skin, but when they have a flare up the other one works best to bring it down without using steroid cream.

And BT have just put their broadband prices up by 10pc. Just got the email!

needsahalo · 31/01/2017 17:49

Sainsbury's value squash has gone up 5p a bottle since a few weeks ago. Ditto their Diet Coke.

Sleepnowprettyplease · 31/01/2017 18:02

Asda sanitary towels 57p last month 70p this week, we're on a very tight budget of £30 a week to feed 5 which is nearly impossible and means the kids are having savers beans on toast at least twice a week. Alot of people won't notice it but for something that only benefits me it seems like a luxury, I could feed my kids a meal for that!

maggiethemagpie · 31/01/2017 18:44

The cost of vegetables and fresh produce seems to have increased a lot. £1.65 for a small packet of sliced runner beans. Probably enough for two decent sized adult portions.

I was so disgusted I asked the cashier not to put it through and went without.

I'll probably get scurvy at this rate.

Just found out i'm in line for a 1% pay rise this year if I'm lucky, no more, so it's definitely going to be a pay cut in real terms this year.

BillSykesDog · 31/01/2017 18:47

Apple has put all the prices up about 30% on it's App Store.

ThornyBird · 31/01/2017 20:41

It's not all going up, dh was told today he's getting a 10% pay cut. But that's better than being made redundant like his colleague, every cloud and all that.

phoenix1973 · 31/01/2017 21:14

I am so sorry to hear that. Ashamed to say I am probably among those who are on tight budgets but you are genuinely struggling. Flowers
