To think this is a load of bs?

My mum posted on fb today that she's excited to see trump in power as he's a Christian and America finally has a Christian leader. Personally I don't see anything Christian about trying to segregate America. Aibu to think that's utter nonsense and he's definitely not getting his instructions from God?! I'm not a Christian though so maybe I just don't see it?

I'd imagine Desolate was being tongue in cheek. Are you always that rude and snippy?

dylsmimi · 30/01/2017 11:10

I would post or like this on facebook- search 'God' Sad

To think this is a load of bs?
Megatherium · 30/01/2017 11:11

Ask her what she thinks is Christian and beneficial about the fact that Trump has effectively disowned the lines on the Statue of Liberty:

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.

dylsmimi · 30/01/2017 11:11

Oops I meant Grin not sad!

DesolateWaist · 30/01/2017 11:12

I'm not the one being OTT here Cara

I'm also not the one defending someone presenting as fact an opinion that the demonstrably wrong.

DJBaggySmalls · 30/01/2017 11:13

Ask her whats so Christian about stopping Christians from fleeing Syria.
And what does she mean by 'finally'?

SittingDrinkingTea · 30/01/2017 11:14

This is a really interesting article on Trump's religious beliefs.

GinIsIn · 30/01/2017 11:18

Tell your mum that the Pope disagrees with her....

“You cannot be a Christian without living like a Christian,” he said. “You cannot be a Christian without practicing the Beatitudes. You cannot be a Christian without doing what Jesus teaches us in Matthew 25.” This is a reference to Christ’s injunction to help the needy by such works of mercy as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked and welcoming the stranger.

“It’s hypocrisy to call yourself a Christian and chase away a refugee or someone seeking help, someone who is hungry or thirsty, toss out someone who is in need of my help,” he said. “If I say I am Christian, but do these things, I’m a hypocrite.”

StarlingMurderation · 30/01/2017 11:21

I was just about to post that about the Pope!

My gran always prided herself on how good a Christian she was, but she was a bigoted homophobic racist who didn't see how her judgemental crap was in direct opposition to Jesus' teachings.

I was not being rude. If you find my behaviour rude, I suggest you go
"NC" as they say here.

As they say here. So you are posting here but not a MNer then?

nicetoseeyoutoseeyounice · 30/01/2017 11:29

I had to bite my tongue and not argue with her over social media. She is a bit nuts so I'm used to this kind of thing.

Just like 95% of all Christians tbf

AssassinatedBeauty · 30/01/2017 11:32

Did you point out that the US has never had a non-Christian president?

I really don't get why she would think Trump is more Christian than any previous president.

RedSauce · 30/01/2017 11:32

I'm going NC with CaraAspen.

SleepFreeZone · 30/01/2017 11:33

Some of the most unpleasant people I've met have been practicing Christians, their behaviour was deplorable. My theory is they thought they were superior to others due to having God onboard.

Trump is no more the spokesperson for Christianity than ISIS are representatives of Islam. They are both extremists who peddle war.

DesolateWaist · 30/01/2017 11:35

One sign I saw at the protests was Hebrews 13.2
Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

InfiniteCurve · 30/01/2017 11:35

I'm seeing far too many pro Trump posts on my Facebook feed, courtesy of my sister's American mother in law.She personally is a genuinely kind and I would say Christian person ( actions, words and beliefs).
But she is a Trump supporter, and many of the comments supporting him are extremely Christian Right - particularly anti abortion.
Many of those people believe Obama is a Muslim....HmmHmm ( which is a great big "so what? " for me but evidence of conspiracy for them as far as I can make out)

DesolateWaist · 30/01/2017 11:35

I'm going NC with CaraAspen.

Snigger.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 30/01/2017 11:36

OP's mum is presumably a birther who believes that Obama is a Muslim as well as not being an American.

TheNiffler · 30/01/2017 11:38

I'm going NC with CaraAspen.

Good plan.

Grin

I'm sure she'll be gutted.

And yes, you were rude.

PigletJohn · 30/01/2017 11:41

like this?

WorraLiberty · 30/01/2017 11:41

Grin @ MNetters going 'NC' with each other.

I post here so that I can laugh at terms like NC.
