A huge thank you from me too, GingerIvy, you're spot on with the Tweets you're posting.
And: "I find it rather scary that 1 man can have so much power without debate by elected representatives and a vote." Yes to this, exactly what I've been thinking and wondering why others don't seem to be reacting the same way - he really is no longer a joke.

GingerIvy · 29/01/2017 19:51

Grin Thank you. I keep popping away here and there doing other things throughout. It's just very important to me, being American, and I can't be there to protest. This is at least making people aware.

GingerIvy · 29/01/2017 19:53

Not sure why, but I love it when a Congressman slips from "political talk" and just calls something "stupid." Grin

'Immigrants are America': protesters mass at US airports – in pictures

This isn’t inhumane. It’s exercising common-sense compassion to keep human beings safe

Except that it's making Americans less safe. Even in an alternative universe where this would be a good idea, the execution has been completely incompetent.

GingerIvy · 29/01/2017 19:55

Yeah. Those old Tweets just keep coming up to bite people in the arse.

I have Been watching a few live steaming protest marches on Facebook and it has turned into real life game of thrones. As they marched past Trumps hotel everyone started chanting "Shame, shame"

Its all surreal and scary

GingerIvy · 29/01/2017 19:56

Surely SOMEONE in government notices the symbolism there?!?!

merrymouse · 29/01/2017 19:56

I think the Florida incident happened about 3 weeks ago - I wonder how much capacity any US airport now has to deal with run of the mill every day security concerns.

ChuffChu · 29/01/2017 19:57

I used to wonder why the POTUS was seen as the most powerful man in the world. I always figured there must be some kind of checks and balances to his power. Apparently that's not the courts Confused

Still waiting for those to kick in.

Posted this on the thread about the petition, for the nay sayer basically saying we have no power. It's Desmond Tutu saying that international protests made a huge difference re bringing down apartheid in South Africa:

State AG = State Attorney General

ZebraOwl · 29/01/2017 20:03

(Still arguing with Holocaust-denier on Twitter. Who has, at least, been scrupulously polite throughout. [Though in some ways that's maybe worse?] Have recommended Richard Evans' "Lying About Hitler" to him & now explained several times that Holocaust Denial is not illegal in the EU, just in some member states. Also explained asking me to believe Holocaust didn't happen = on a par to asking me to believe WW2 didn't.

I KNOW I should stop. I just can't bear the thought of letting him have the last word. Especially if it's some nonsense like "Holocaust" not being used until the late 1970s.)

Tell him my grandfather was at the liberation of Bergen Belsen. He saw first hand and it wasn't plastic dollies and ketchup.

My grandma told me about the Holocaust in the very early 70s (I know because it was when grandpa was all e and he died in 1972).
