"it was only a small number - a 109 I think - people that were inconvenienced"

Barely in a day.

It must fall under the "small loan of 1 million dollars" category.

GingerIvy · 29/01/2017 18:55

sorry there was a pic (hence the from a 10th floor office), but couldn't get it to load.

Where's Claig gone? He/She used to be all over the threads on Trump before the election, have I missed something?

passingthrough1 · 29/01/2017 19:01

I'm just worried that all these protests will be counter productive. It just reiterates the message over and over and over again that's Trump is you know willing to act / the only one doing something / tough on Islamic terrorism ... that somehow all this opposition plays into his hands. How many people appalled by what is happening voted for this man? I am assuming none or very few. Whereas the people who did and want the wall and the Muslim ban etc will be thrilled both with it all happening as well as the outcry.

That's not to say do nothing.... but I'm just feeling like it's all a bit futile at the moment. It's all about the spin isn't it? And he's getting what he wants.

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/01/2017 19:01

Agree with OP that this is no longer funny.

These threads still have all the best posters though.

Thank you all. Bigly.

President Trump doesn't get to ignore a Federal judge's order. He is not above the law. The Constitution makes that clear.

Spicer:"The safety of the American citizen is paramount'

So how will he react to the next gun shooting massacre carried out by white American who is non Muslim?

The Normalization Trap, NYT

"The consequences can be serious. Our research suggests, for example, that as President Trump continues to do things that once would have been regarded as outlandish, these actions are not simply coming to be regarded as more typical; they are coming to be seen as more normal. As a result, they will come to be seen as less bad and hence less worthy of outrage."

GingerIvy · 29/01/2017 19:04

passingthrough the point is that the EO was unconstitutional. Discriminatory based on religion. And it's affecting people's lives. It can't happen. It's against everything the Constitution is based on.

If we can't follow our own laws, what's the point in having a government?

Roussette · 29/01/2017 19:04

Irene I always think Paul Ryan looks faintly robotic. What an about turn.

Here's some of what he has said...
I do not think a muslim ban is in our country's interests
Muslims are our partners
Muslims are among our best allies
And so on....

I can only presume he not only wees on prostitutes but poos too and the orange one has photos

Even if this ban is reversed, how long before anyone trusts American promises again? Will devastate our fight against terrorism.

You can't eradicate terror with nukes. You need people's trust on the ground. Trump destroyed that trust. Will take a decade to get it back.

NYT

Senator Rob Portman, Republican of Ohio, likewise conceded problems with the order’s rollout and called for a re-evaluation of the White House’s unilateral effort.

“You have an extreme vetting proposal that did not get the vetting it should have had,” he said on CNN’s “State of the Union,” adding that Congress should be part of finding a solution that “makes sense for our national security and, again, for this notion that America has always been a welcoming home for refugees and immigrants.”

I do hope GOP representatives act where their mouth is.
Starting with McCain.

That's her gone then ginger as she perpetuated the myth of the yuge crowds at inauguration.

Just incidentally... totally shallow here... but my god did anyone see her interviewed today ... she had so much make up on her eyes she could barely open them and TBH it looked like someone had given her two black eyes. She looked like it was all getting too much for her TBH.
