Don't know if it came across that way to anybody else who saw it

It's amazing how little discussion there was. Looking forward to the 8.10 Today slot tomorrow.

I can't cope with BBC with all of this, that doesn't surprise me, much prefer Sky News with what's going on.

1941 Dr. Seuss cartoon criticizing America's stance on denying Jews safe haven. Recognize the T-shirt slogan?

Really spooky thing, is I've only learnt about freaks like Bannon in the last year. With Breitbart and Cambridge Analytica strategies, they've been poisoning young and old minds, but a large amount of young, for years.

amispartacus · 29/01/2017 22:56

Thanks amisparticus - apologies for amplifying FAKE NEWS... just playing into the Emperors tiny little hands

TBF - I bet there are some Trump employees who might just do that though.

The Death Star thought it was safe but it was brought down by rogues.

Trump didn't like Rogue One. He thought it was about him

You know it goes way back to the 1930s. It's built up a good head of steam now. Irony is, 20 more years and these awful old white men would be dead.

And only yesterday. BBC journalists were being accused of being anti Trump and 'pro leftie' in its coverage.

Shocking news. AILA member reports passengers on LAX-bound flight still in the air being forced to sign I-407s surrendering green cards.

Roussette · 29/01/2017 23:03

From that article...
"Now Trump has put on paper what Nixon had only tried to do. Saturday's memorandum sidelines three of the nation's top security officials. It's possible all three will participate in all critical meetings, but they will only do so at the explicit invitation of the president or his national security adviser. That shows the intelligence community that its leaders are considered optional, not integral, as the United States copes with the demands of an ever-changing world.

Even more problematic is that they rank below someone whose previous job was running a website that featured bigoted, xenophobic and misogynistic headlines and drew an alt-right readership prone to falling for conspiracy theories. Bannon is reportedly behind some of Trump's most controversial moves, including the inclusion of Green Card holders in the restrictions on visas for visitors from seven predominantly Muslim countries."

Scary.

A few legal points on Trump's statement and the emerging Trump admin defense of this ban
The 7 countries are countries that Congress and the Obama admin designated as dangerous TO VISIT.
So people from other countries who visited those 7 countries were subject to additional vetting. (Mostly Europeans on visa waiver program.)
The countries were NOT designated as a source of immigrant-related terrorism, which is a different metric for immigration considerations.
So:
Trump correct that list based on prior laws;
But not correct to suggest its a list of countries that were a "source" of terror in US.

nicenewdusters · 29/01/2017 23:06

Given the BBC paper review just now, it's hard to imagine how the BBC could be accused of being anti Trump. Their discussion had the flavour of family members discussing an embarrassing elderly uncle, the one who starts making racist and sexist comments after one too many drinks at Christmas.

This is pretty much the ballgame. CNN reports Trump considering order for ALL travellers to US to disclose websites visited & phone contacts

Ploppymoodypants · 29/01/2017 23:06

I am going to ask what might seem like a silly question.

What job does Obama do now? I know he is on holiday but then what? Is he unemployed or is he still part of his party? How does that all work? Does he have any influence? Like actual influence?

Thank you

GingerIvy · 29/01/2017 23:09

Not really. He can encourage Congress to step up, but he doesn't really have any governmental power now. He does, I imagine, have some damn good contacts, though.

Birdandsparrow · 29/01/2017 23:10

He's a private citizen now.

nicenewdusters · 29/01/2017 23:11

I was wondering that too Ploppy . He said he was going to be quiet for a while. I hope he rethinks that one.

amispartacus · 29/01/2017 23:12

The danger to any country is the lone wolves inside. How will Trump deal with that?

The overwhelming number of Muslims in the USA do not constitute a threat. Nor do refugees.

But 1 lone wolf incident inspired by ISIS within the USA - and then what?

GingerIvy that Dr Seuss cartoon is incredibly eerie.
