Party bag question

Imaginingdragonsagain · 29/01/2017 12:02

Would it be ok to give a cheap elastic band gun thing as party bag gift with sweets to 8/9 year olds? Or would you be appalled?

What's one of those??

VirtuallyMe · 29/01/2017 12:03

Ditch the party bag. Seriously.

Piece of cake and packet of haribos is all thats needed.

Imaginingdragonsagain · 29/01/2017 12:07

I know, but I can't!!

One of those things that fires elastic bands at unsuspecting people? I would want to kill you, truthfully speaking. I'm struggling to think of anything more annoying.

wettunwindee · 29/01/2017 12:07

Ditch the party bag altogether. A bit of cake wrapped in kitchen roll is all you need!

Mrsglitterfairy · 29/01/2017 12:07

To be honest, they don't appreciate party bags at that age. My DS is 9 next week, having a sort of party for him with a couple of friends. They will just get a piece of cake and a bag of sweets or something at the end.

formerbabe · 29/01/2017 12:08

I wouldn't look forward to that coming home...Do a piece of cake and sweets. If you want to give something, some bubbles of a poundshop kids book is better I think.

Imaginingdragonsagain · 29/01/2017 12:09

Thank you, I did think it was probably unreasonable!! Will re-think.

Mrsglitterfairy- but what would your or something be? That's what I'm trying to think of.

Glow sticks?

Introvertedbuthappy · 29/01/2017 12:14

I gave a piece of cake and a comic book at the end of 8 year old DS's party.

Mrsglitterfairy · 29/01/2017 12:19

It will either be a bag of sweets or chocolates I think and maybe a pack of match attax.

I'd be horrified. Those things are nasty. Better to give sweets, cake and a small book of some sort. If you don't think books are any use, my friend just went to the shop and bought a load of cheap footballs. Gave those instead of the tat in a bag.

early30smum · 29/01/2017 12:27

Sometimes I go on book people and buy a cheap set of books and give the kids one each? Stickers? If girls, sometimes I go to Claire's accessories and buy loads of multipacks of hair bobbles/clips and separate them so each child gets say 2 bobbles. Plus obviously cake and maybe a small pack of sweets.

Allshadesofpinkie · 29/01/2017 13:03

Buy a multipack of books from the book people and wrap individually with a small sweetie. And give with a slice of cake wrapped in a napkin.
