I'm so determined to do it but I'm not feeling hopeful it's going to happen

I used to be able to do it when they first came out. There is one of the moves that I can't remember now though. The msthod I learnt involved getting the top face, then the bottom corners and then you slotted all the other pieces into place with a specific move.

kittykittykitty5 · 28/01/2017 22:08

I don't know what the cross thing is, I don't do it that way.

rightsofwomen · 28/01/2017 22:08

You need written instructions, none of this new fangled video nonsense!

I can do all but the last square, remembered from the 80s.

kittykittykitty5 · 28/01/2017 22:09

I am same as Soup Dragon, get one face (with edge colours correct) then the second and if your corners are correct you are about ten moves away.

Corners have to be in place though or it just won't work.

JennyOnAPlate · 28/01/2017 22:10

After watching dh faff with his for weeks last year I bought a new one and told him I'd done his in an hour. He still hasn't cottoned on.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/01/2017 22:11

good instructions the trick is to make sure you don't get your clockwise and anti clockwise turns muddled.

Margot2142 · 28/01/2017 22:15

The children at school love it when I can solve their cubes!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 28/01/2017 22:17

You tube worked for ds1 (14)

I was proudly telling my colleagues he'd completed it on Christmas Day afternoon having got it in his stocking in the morning and it transpired when I got home from work that he'd done it with the help of videosHmm

DH didn't bother to put that bit in the text!

If we'd had YouTube back in the 80's mine might not have gone in the bin! I used to be pleased if I got one side completed.....

onmybroomstick · 28/01/2017 22:22

All white on one side!!!!!!!!

Excitement over. Apparently they all needed to be the same colour along the edge next to it. I hate the rubix

Ds (12) is a cyber.

His personal best time is 11 seconds or something ridiculous!!!

pictish · 28/01/2017 22:35

I couldn't do a Rubix cube...I lost the will to live too quickly.

calzone · 28/01/2017 22:35

Cuber not cyber.

EveOnline2016 · 28/01/2017 22:37

My son can do a Rubix cube easy. He is 10 but this is one of the 'perks' at being ASD.

Ele13 · 28/01/2017 22:39

The key thing is not to change the orientation of the cube when following the instructions, and then they should work okay :)

onmybroomstick · 28/01/2017 22:41

Managed that. Completely messing up th next stage tho....this is the furthest I've got. Can not give up. So jealous of all the children that can do it

My dh googled it then memorised the wists and its his party trick.
He didnt tell me he'd googled it, i saw it in the pc history!

Bumply · 28/01/2017 22:46

I've just watched a video of an America's Got Talent entrant who did an act where he solved three Rubik's cubes whilst blindfolded, and for the third one he did it one handed.
'Twas very impressive

thenightsky · 28/01/2017 22:46

DS had many of them...pyramid ones and ones with 4 and 5 rows. He can do them all in about 30 seconds. He is awesome aspie Smile

AgathaMystery · 28/01/2017 23:41

My husband can do these types of puzzles (cube, pyramid etc) in under a minute. He is so smug About this I can't even be in the same room as the sodding cube.
