To give a free gym pass to a homeless man?

I do a bit of volunteering with a homeless charity. I was chatting to one of out regulars who was saying he does his best to keep himself clean but hasn't had a shower in six months.

He lives in a tent Sad and for various reasons that won't change any time soon. He doesn't usually smell but is scruffy and looks quite obviously like a rough sleeper.

FTTT my (quite swanky) gym sends guest passes. WIBU to give them to him so he can shower? How would it go down with staff/management or other members. I dont want there to be a scene and make him uncomfortable but it seems like a solution for him. What do you think? How would you feel (if male!) about sharing a changing room at your expensive gym with him?

Op needs supervision and to understand boundaries, personal and professional

Council gyms do this I think. My partner signed up to his swanky gym to get away from this sort of thing. He often says to me people use council gym pool as a bath. He could be met with snobbery and people may complain.

So he has been offered help but is determined to stay where he is. Well that's fine but then you don't get to give him the use of private facilities which don't belong to you and which are there to generate money. The free passes aren't to let randomers get clean!

I don't doubt you are kind hearted but it will be fairly awful for him if he gets told to sod off by the staff!

Even if the poor guy gets to shower somewhere, where can he wash his clothing, and get it dry? Unless he is an adept survivor I'm sure his life at this time of the year must suck.

But he could have help so presumably he must be quite good at the survival stuff

Yes it's dreadfully sad but,he cannot be compelled to shower,or wash clothes
He isn't compelled to accept intervention and agencies cannot compel him Unless his mh has deteriorated and he is risk to self or others and then he'd need mh assessment
