And did you sleep train?

First DS is 7 weeks so not expecting better sleep just yet but I've become obsessed with the sleep board which terrines me. Is bad sleep the norm or can you give me hope? Grin

First child - 10 weeks and then pretty reliable from then on.
Second child - 15 weeks and a bit hit and miss as she was a dummy addict. (I stopped feeding her at night at 4 months though). At 7.5 months she was able to replug dummy herself so almost always sleeps through.
Sleep trained both (not cry it out). I just have to have my sleep or I go demented.

YerAWizardHarry · 28/01/2017 00:46

DS was 4 last week and seems to have cracked it in the last month or two...

MommaGee · 28/01/2017 02:00

Not read whole thread as too excited.

They sleep through at some point????

Someone please tell my 19 mo

differentnameforthis · 28/01/2017 03:17

She's 8. More nights than not, she still wakes at least once.

Ponderingprivately · 28/01/2017 05:59

If by sleeping through you mean all night - early evening until early morning, then my DD did this at 3 months. My DS took a bit longer at 8 months. both of them, however, could do a long stretch, 7-8 hours by 10 weeks.
I didn't sleep train exactly, but was happy to leave them to grumble in their cot for a bit (not screaming), if I knew they were fed, clean and warm.

AristonAndOn · 28/01/2017 06:05

I'm 2 year 4 month year old doesn't yet

UmmAandY · 28/01/2017 06:57

My 5 year old still wake 2-4 times and the 3 year old 5-10 times, my husband is eager for child number 3, I would like some proper sleep first

UmmAandY · 28/01/2017 06:58

For babies it's considered that they sleep through the night if they sleep for 5 hours in one go or more

TheWildOnes · 28/01/2017 07:02

My youngest will be 2 in May. He slept through from about 10 months til about 14 months and hasn't slept through since, we co-sleep as he is even worse in his own bed. He just grizzles a few times in the night rather than actually waking up but has just always seemed to not need as much sleep as a regular person.

whensitmyturn · 28/01/2017 07:02

Dc 1- 7 months
DC 2 - 3 years
DC 3 - 8 months

wornoutboots · 28/01/2017 07:10

5 years old.

Well that's certainly one interpretation, which is why people should take people in baby groups who say their baby sleeps through from 8 weeks with a pinch of salt.

applepatch · 28/01/2017 07:17

Ha! Yes in that case my DD has 'slept through' from about 4 months! Pity it's all before bloody midnight! I was at a keeping in touch work thing yesterday and one of the first things I was asked is 'is she sleeping through'

Sigh Confused

UmmAandY · 28/01/2017 07:18

Yep, definitely don't believe them all :p.

The 5 hours is what the health visitor and doctors go from in Denmark and even in the Middle East where we live not, they also don't expect the babies to start sleeping through (5hours) until they are 8month or older

UmmAandY · 28/01/2017 07:19

Now* not not

Igottastartthinkingbee · 28/01/2017 07:20

I'm with you there banana! Sleeping through to me is 11-12hrs a night!

Feckitall · 28/01/2017 07:29

DS1 aged 5..then regressed aged 6 before finally sleeping aged 8..until 14..but at least by then he wasnt disturbing us...no wonder aged 28 he does early morning chef Grin
DS 2 aged 6 months as long as DS1 didn't disturb him..they shared a room..
DD aged 12 weeks..she still likes her bed aged 25! Grin

Writerwannabe83 · 28/01/2017 07:36

I used to love hearing about babies who "slept through" from 7-7 and only woke for quick feeds at 11pm and 3am Grin

1 year and still wakes every hour and a half. Co sleeping helps a bit once we get past midnight in the cot Confused

Sweetheartyparty76 · 28/01/2017 07:49

My DH started sleeping from 8pm to 4/5am at 8 weeks. Gradually got better and she is now at 12 weeks going from 8pm to 6am and sometimes to 7am. I count my blessings every day and think that any day now it will go to pot once she hits a regression/teething/colds etc x

Sweetheartyparty76 · 28/01/2017 07:51

Not DH lol, my DS stupid autocorrect Grin

cathf · 28/01/2017 08:16

I regarded 6-7 until 7ish as sleeping through

GrumpySausage · 28/01/2017 08:25

My DS started going 10pm to 7am from 11 weeks with no waking/feeds. Combination fed.

Since then he's got better and sleeps 7 to 7/8 every night. Only wakes if a bit unwell but then goes back easily. He's now nearly 2.

I realise I am incredibly lucky and count my blessings every day. I think I'll stop at one...

Winehound84 · 28/01/2017 09:23

Slept trained at 4 months and she slept from dreamfeed until 7-7:30 for a few weeks. Then a lot of things changed, travelled, moved to a bigger cot, removed sleepy head, she started rolling in bed etc etc, so 7:30 to 7:30 started happening only around 7 months after some more sleep training. It does not mean she never wakes up during the night anymore, but it mostly means we do nothing about it and she quickly falls asleep again.
