Inspired by the other thread ....

Who is brave enough to take the challenge? Who dishes out crisps and penguins?

No judging just out of interest to see what the DC if mners really eat!

Obviously too late today for most, but tomorrow?

This was today's Wink

AIBU to ask to see your dcs REAL packed lunches
Newtssuitcase · 26/01/2017 14:24

Mine had a packed "dinner" last night because they do a sporting activity

cheese sandwich on white tiger bread with real butter
ten pringles
apple
rather large jam doughnut (not to be eaten until the apple had gone)
two bottles of water

They're fit and healthy and generally have three decent cooked meals a day and so I'm completely unconcerned about their fairly crappy meal.

SpongebobRoundPants · 26/01/2017 14:26

Just is that tomatoes? You do realise they are a fruit and therefore packed with sugar? You should swap them for dust. Gluten, sugar, fat and carb free dust. Wink

NotWeavingButDarning · 26/01/2017 14:27

Mine are 5 and 9
Yesterday: Veggie curry/brown rice; apple; yoghurt; water
Today: Veggie pizza; pineapple; yoghurt; water (plus raisins cos they have judo after school)

Pretty much the same formula each day, a yoghurt, a fruit and a 'main' thing. Their school only allows water to drink.

Kim82 · 26/01/2017 14:27

Ds took money for his lunch today so I've no idea what he'll eat - curry probably.

Dd2 took a turkey sandwich on white bread, a frube, granola cereal bar, a banana and a bottle of water.

Dd1 had an orthodontist appt at 12 today so me, dd1 and dd3 (2.5yo so not at school yet) had a McDonalds before dd1 went back to school.

CheerfulMuddler · 26/01/2017 14:28

Mine's 1. He went to the childminder with
2 savoury muffins (courgette and tomato. Made a batch ages ago and put them in the freezer cos I can't be arsed with sandwiches)
Grapes
Mini fromage frais

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 26/01/2017 14:28

10yo DS1 has exactly the same thing every single day. It is not good.

-primula sandwich on white bread
-bag of wotsits or other baked crisps
-cucumber sticks

Recently he has branched out and let us include a mini pork pie.
He has food issues, best summed up by him aged about 4, 'I don't like anything that tastes.' I despair.

CheesyNachos · 26/01/2017 14:31

DS has school meals but when he is at his childminders I have a 1-1-1-1-1-policy. So it is one carb (the bread) 1 protein (egg, tuna or ham in the sandwich) 1 dairy (babybel or cream cheese/ cheesy dipper thing), 1 fruit, 1 veg (carrot sticks usually) 1 sweet treat (chocolate, donut) 1 savoury treat (crisps or hula hoops).

It works for me as I can remember it and it makes it relatively balanced!!!!

justaweeone · 26/01/2017 14:33

Sponge I'm a terrible motherBlush
Instead of dust is it ok if I give Ds13 the same thing everyday?
Unbuttered roll with a slice of ham
Crisps
Cereal bar
Water
Oh then play the please take a piece of fruit game!
Most of lunch eaten at break as there's football to be played at lunchtime!

totoromama · 26/01/2017 14:36

9 yr old takes either a houmous wrap (which he doesn't eat), or two slices of malt loaf, buttered (which he does eat). A handful of sugarsnap peas and a yoghurt tube. He will not eat more than this.

7yr old and 5yr old much easier. A wrap with tuna and spinach leaves/chicken salad/houmous and cheese. A portion of fruit and a portion of veg. Yoghurt tube. Fruit loaf slice, buttered.

Halle71 · 26/01/2017 14:50

I only do packed lunches on Thurs/Fri when I don't work. They are not allowed and 'treats' on any other day than Friday when they are allowed one. She's petrified of getting caught out and last Thursday hid her homemade banana muffin Confused They havecake/ice cream/apple pie etc for school dinners FFS. They did a check a couple of weeks ago and she was told that her lunch was one of the best and would be perfect if it had contained dairy. She had oats with Greek yogurt and banana, with a glass of milk for breakfast - she doesn't need dairy at every meal.
Today she had:
tuna mayo and cucumber sandwich
mini hummus tub with breadsticks
Satsuma
Grapes
Ginger oatcakes

WhirlwindHugs · 26/01/2017 14:53

Mine (5+7) had:

ham sandwich
Cheese string
Box of raisins
Cucumber chunk
Chopped melon

DS choose to leave his at home and have an omelette at school 😂

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 26/01/2017 14:53

no pic as they are already at school.
mine are a bit older so I think that makes a difference 10 in yr6 and 14 in yr 10.

Neither like bread/sandwiches so today dd (10) has wholewheat pasta with red pesto, peppers, spinach, sweetcorn and chicken all mixed in a pot. Fruit winder bear paws thing, tub of grapes.

ds2 (14) has mushroom filled tortellini with green pesto, spinach, pine nuts, peppers. packet of frazzles and a bottle of flavoured water.

tomorrow they both have hot school dinners, well dd has fish and chips t school and ds2 buys subway on his way in to eat at lunch.

I genuinely wish that mine ate a nutella or jam sandwich with crisps and choc bars would be so much easier, instead of faffing with tubs and pasta.

Apparently Monday will be sweet chilli noodles with chicken and peppers, sweetcorn, etc, as ive been asked to put noodles and sweet chilli sauce on the shopping list.

zen1 · 26/01/2017 14:56

DC 1 (13)
Marmite sandwich
Yoghurt
Raisins
Strawberries
Cucumber
2 babybel cheeses
Muesli bar
Humzinger stick
Pkt mini cheddars

DC2 School dinners

DC3 Marmite sandwich
Strawberries
Pkt apples (refuses whole apple)
Muesli bar
Humzinger fruit stick
Pkt crisps
Pkt organic cheese crackers

He is diagnosed with ARFID though, so is very limited in what he will eat.

TheFirstMrsDV · 26/01/2017 14:56

Bloody love this thread!

mine have:
50/50 bread or roll. Cheese or marmite. Sometimes DS2 has quorn slices (he isn't a veggie).
Own brand orange juice
Sausage/sausage roll/party eggs
Small pack of 'snacks' (cheese bakes etc)
Cereal bar a few times a week.

Their packed lunches look beige and meh and not what I would have wanted. But they eat it.

They eat tons of fruit at home (on and off depending on fads) so I don't give them it for school.

arethereanyleftatall · 26/01/2017 14:58

Sandwich on brown bread with good filling (egg or tuna).
Banana
Pot of carrot/tomatoes/cucumber
Water

Lynnm63 · 26/01/2017 15:04

Ds1 aged 16 takes a pot of pasta either with ham and cheese or feta, chorizo and cucumber. I make it at night whilst I'm cooking dinner. He has money on his school dinner account if he wants something else and he goes out for fish and Chips on Fridays, perks of being in the sixth form.
Twins have school dinners.

Lillabet · 26/01/2017 15:05

No pics because they're either on school lunches at the moment or not in (preschooler) but they'll usually have:
DS (7)
White bread butty with ham or white & wheat tuna mayo wrap with salad
Yoghurt
Pack of crisps
Piece of fruit (banana/apple/pot of grapes)
Flask of NAS squash

DD (4) has the same but a half butty and only cucumber on her wrap.

When they started there was a lot more fruit and salad stuff but it just wasn't being eaten so they have a healthy snack when they get home.

As long as they're not given all junk in their lunch the school really don't mind what they're eating thank fuck Grin
