Just curious really....I am on another thread (under a different name) and enjoying the connections I am making there, I can quite imagine meeting up with these people in real life. Has anyone done this? And how did it go?

OP posts:
PrettyDarnQuick · 25/01/2017 06:15

I've met up with loads and one is now a really close friend (we met on here 10 years and a bajillion name changes ago) :)

MsHooliesCardigan · 25/01/2017 07:19

I've been to a couple of meet ups. They were great and nobody was remotely scary.

Lostpangolin · 25/01/2017 09:13

Thanks, triple B. If it goes well, I may venture to one of the meet-ups. Now, that would be daunting.

londonrach · 25/01/2017 09:15

How do u find out about meetups

elQuintoConyo · 25/01/2017 09:26

I haven't met anyone as i live in el quinto coño and everyone on here seems to live in civilization Grin

I'd love to go to a meet up, but it ain't gonna happen.

I did meet someone i'd been chatting to on a photography forum, had a great day snapping in and around Bibao! Not met up since due to cost/child/job/life, but we're still in touch.

Lostpangolin · 25/01/2017 11:37

Meetings sometimes posted in meet ups. There were some southern sisters ones in chat but they may have gone by now. My adoptive sister was on a thread where someone else was looking for a sister. I offered big brotherhood since I'm not a sister.

ZackyVengeance · 25/01/2017 11:39

ive been on some lovely meet ups in the past. with people like MABS and Custy...and Mamazon

RedStripeIassie · 25/01/2017 11:45

I've met a mumsnetter just last month after going through a bad time relationship wise. She offered to meet up. It was a bit awkward at first, like a first date but she was very kind and easy to talk to. I've moved hours away now so probably won't see her again Sad

FruSkogKattOla · 25/01/2017 17:03

There is a Meet-Ups topic here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/meetups, although it can be quite quiet over there.

Our London Meet-Ups tend to be posted in Chat, so we can get things organised, but then the thread is deleted after 90 days.

And I know that the Brighton Meet-Ups are also quite well attended.

BingoBingoBingoBango · 25/01/2017 17:37

Nothing happens in my local meet up pages on here.

FruSkogKattOla · 25/01/2017 19:11

Be proactive, Bingo! Start a thread - in Chat!

MrsEvadneCake · 25/01/2017 19:18

Yes and they have turned into the dearest closest friends I have.

Yes, probably about a dozen over the years, all from long running threads organised by pm, in ones and twos, never been to one of the open to all meetups though. No one local, it has tended to be when one of us will be travelling to where one of the others lives, or London.

MrsEvadneCake · 26/01/2017 18:18

Ohnoitsnot!

I have a bunch of friends from an antenatal group on here. Some I've met in RL, some are just Facebook friends due to distance, but we've chatted for so long they are real friends.

donajimena · 26/01/2017 18:35

I haven't but I would love to. I've a few on my Facebook which I love interacting with but they live too far away Sad

MrsEvadneCake · 26/01/2017 18:39

Snogs witch too. What a wonderful thread!!

Shnorbitz · 26/01/2017 18:42

I'd love to meet Any Fucker to dispel the myth that she might actually be a hairy handed trucker Grin

SweetBabyJebus · 26/01/2017 18:53

Hi Fru CTK BBB and all the london meet up-ers!

Op i have made some great friends from MN - spent a fab and boozy Friday recently with Plumstone and FinnMcCool, both utterly fabulous women. As is Hearts. So go for it! Start a meet up thread!

FruSkogKattOla · 26/01/2017 18:59

SBJ .... and Plum and Finn - HOW VERY DARE YOU meet up without me Grin

I suppose we need to think about March?

SweetBabyJebus · 26/01/2017 19:02

It was Plum's birthday, blame her! And yes, i've been looking around for this thread you were supposed to start... Wink

murmuration · 26/01/2017 19:02

Oh, how fascinating! I think I'd feel weird meeting up with people - I'm much more honest on MN about my struggles than I am to anyone other than DH and my very closest friends in real life. It would be weird to meet strangers who knew these things already.

Thetruthfairy · 26/01/2017 19:05

Catherine. Hola, I'm west Yorks :-)
