To ask if you have ever met up with friends you have made on Mumsnet?

Just curious really....I am on another thread (under a different name) and enjoying the connections I am making there, I can quite imagine meeting up with these people in real life. Has anyone done this? And how did it go?

I have met mumsnetters (under a previous name).

A lot of the threads I find myself on have some seriously scary posters... I'd be terrified to meet them in real life

i have met an amazing group of women on here on the conception boards - we all talk daily on facebook and i have met several in real life. they are bloody brilliant

I'm on a closed FB group with others that share a pastime. I've been to 3 meet-ups in London in the last couple of years and plan to go to the next if I can get childcare cover.

Lovely supportive people , who mainly seem to like gin...

No, but there's a couple of MNers I'd love to meet ('cause I owe them a hug).

Not from Mumsnet, but I've met up with groups of people from other forums. One when I was a teenager - I met a big group, had a boyfriend through it, still friends with a few of them now. And then later on, a group of us from an antenatal thread moved to FB and met up. Most of us are still there and friends even though we're on second (and third) babies now!

I lurked on handbag..but really joined in with ivillage. When to a few meet ups. Still Facebook friends with about 10 of them.

No, I've been on here for about 12 years and never met anyone.

Not from mumsnet i have a few on my facebook but another parenting forum met a woman i had been chatting to for months met her for lunch all seemed lovely we said lets do it again mwah mwah got home and she had deleted me off facebook so no im not that keen to meet folk. I have met a load of people from an interest forumknown them years

Not on here because I mainly lurk and have for years.
But did meet people from Handbag too!

Met up with some from my antenatal thread (10 years ago!). Hit it off really well with a couple and one in particular. Kept in touch by phone and met up a couple of times a year (we lived about 100 miles apart). She actually met her now DP on a night out with me in my home city and is now moving down here

Yep, my antenatal thread. Fabulous ladies, in touch every single day, met several times and have 2 meets in the next 2 weeks, as it happens. Honestly, I could not do this parenting lark without them.

Well if anyone lives near Hatfield, Potters Bar, St Albans Or near I'm happy to meet up :)

Not met anyone yet, but have an adoptive sister from here whom I hope to meet soon.

Yes! Although we actually only got to know each other via a closed FB group of likeminded MNers. We didn't know each other on here.

Then I have a friend I met through Netmums Meet-a-Mum, about 12 years ago and through our RL chats realised we were both on MN too (neither had particularly participated in NM)

I also have met many people from the BBC Parenting boards (may they rest in pieces) and consider some of them to be the closest confidants in my life.

I have met a fair few absolute weirdos too and also have met up with people I've loved online, but in RL we just didn't click. So in amongst the successes, there are some that didn't work out.

Basically, I'm a complete floozy who'll go along to any meet up that will have me

Yup. Many. I've even been to court with more than one! Made some brilliant friends via MN.

My DS's oldest friendship is the result of a MN meet up :) 12 years and counting.

True enough, BewitchedBotheredandBewildered, but those 13 extra miles are a total deal-breaker.
