wedding abroad- not going

So my cousin is getting married abroad. Its in a perfect location. Only problem is I'll be stuck on an Island for the duration of the time playing happy families when really its not. Family dynamics/politics people playing happy but talking behind your back! Really do not want to go but my excuse of not being able to afford it would limit me going on holiday elsewhere in that time.

Anyone else been in this situation

Just say you've already got a holiday booked and paid for this year and can't afford to go away twice.

No excuse needed! Thankyou for the kind invitation, but I/we will not be able to attend.

We have declined one wedding this year, and only DH is going to his sister's.

I really don't think you should have to justify not attending a destination wedding. A couple can get married where they please but they don't have the right to dictate people's holiday destinations.

Thank you. Families have a way of making you feel bad if you dont fit in to the general consensus of everyone going.

We (DH,DC & I) declined an invite to a close family members wedding abroad a few years back.

We just didn't want to spend a week abroad with them and made other plans. It caused ructions for a few weeks at the time but it soon blew over.

Just remember, it's an invitation not a summons!
