To banish DD

Watching Saturday night TV with the DC (currently The Voice). DD keeps repeating what everyone on TV says.....

"Mum Jennifer just said...."
" Ha ha ha Tom thinks

Not at all . My prat of OH watches shite on you tube while I'm trying to watch criminal minds etc. It is soooo bloody irritating. It's nearly as orating as him slurping his cornflakes and double slurping his brews

I'm constantly saying yes I heard it too. I haven't , however, heard what was said after that because you were talking over it

My mum used to refuse to watch anything with me as apparently I used to check her reactions to the funny/scary/rude bits by looking at her expression. Used to drive her up the wall apparently. Probably infuriating I agree but still kind of wish she'd just poured a big glass of wine and watched something with me once in a while!

Feeling your pain..my DD, 12, seems to think she is auditioning for Gogglebox. .

Every fucker in my house talks over the TV (unless it's something they want to watch) so I gave up and just record it and then watch it in peace while they are all at school and work during the week.

Bloody irritating.

Last time we went to the cinema I had to point out that film critics write it down, or at least wait until after the film has finished. And that if she didn't stop offering an ongoing commentary I couldn't be responsible for the actions of other cinema-goers

Ech, DH does that. And pushes his tablet under my nose to show me things that are on Facebook. I mean, if I wanted to be looking at Facebook then I'd be looking at Facebook... Then he asks me what just happened on whatever we were watching because he missed it

Oh, and if I talk to him while he's watching a DVD he'll make a big show of finding the remote and pausing it, but if he's waving a video of fuckwits falling off a log at me 'it's only a quick one'

yes but -

people sometimes do this when they are trying to engage with you, get your attention, get you to like them & spend time with them. so chat more in the breaks and then you can impose a 'no interrupting' rule the rest of the time.

My ds13 is the worst at this. He provides an 'amusing' commentary to anything. I usually just end up shouting "stop bloody rabbiting on!" - he doesn't though lol.

No need, just make her keep watching it while you go and enjoy something better!

parietal we chat all the time, including in ad breaks. She just doesn't have an off switch. She does it when she's alone in the room too
