Aibu in that i'm not really seeing this as a problem? Why do people hate them so much anyway?
I just see strong business minded women.

Metallic · 18/01/2017 22:28

I am not trolling I just have a different opinion to you.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 18/01/2017 22:30

Also, you just sound like a PR for the Kardashians. Anyone who has seen them in the media or on their show (as in almost everyone) knows you're talking shite. It's cringey when people try and dress up what these kind of celebrities actually are. They aren't role models, philanthropists or intelligent business woman. They pimp out their family members for storylines, have fake weddings for viewing figures, and are dumb as hell.

Metallic · 18/01/2017 22:34

As to the Kardashian ban of an exclusive resort sounds like the kind of gossip that keeps their name floating about that keeps their pockets lined. Oh and they make money from advertisers and companies? Sorry I'm still not seeing the problem here. That's their job.
So it has now become the actual show is unethical and that is the reason my dd should not watch it?
Plenty of unethical things going on in the media. Didn't someone mention the daily mail earlier?
At least the Kardashians are overt about it.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 18/01/2017 22:34

There's different opinions and then there is sheer stupidity. Sorry.

These women are in no way role models for any young woman, let alone a nine year old. It's either trolling, lazy parenting or stupidity being displayed here tbh.

BitchQueen90 · 18/01/2017 22:37

OP, these "strong minded business women" send out a message that the best way to get fame and fortune is to get naked, shout and swear at each other on TV (including calling their mother a "bitch"), have excessive surgeries and then deny it and promote health and fitness (lying), get married just for publicity... Endless list. Is that really what you want your dd to grow up thinking?

minionsrule · 18/01/2017 22:38

Hee hee, my very first sarcastic post (been done millions of times but here goes):

OP - AIBU
MN - Yes (unanimously)
OP - You are all thick and uneducated, I am right and you are all wrong so there nah nah. I will let my 9 YO aspire to be KK

Grin
BitchQueen90 · 18/01/2017 22:40

Of course, if money and fame are the absolute top of your list of priorities in life, then don't let us stop you.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 18/01/2017 22:42

BitchQueen I forgot how much they call each other bitch. I remember a TV channel making a full advert for the coming series of a compilation of them calling each other 'bitch'. Classy ladies...

PaulAnkaTheDog · 18/01/2017 22:43

Just remember she won't be able to 'break the internet' for celebrity. Kim's already done that with her enhanced ass cheeks.

MrsJayy · 18/01/2017 22:43

Fine dont see the problem its up to you but the kardashians is not suitible viewing for a 9yr old girl in my opinion it gives a skewed view of reality and as i said I don't think they are aspirational

BitchQueen90 · 18/01/2017 22:47

Paul they say some disgusting things to each other. I think it's vile. I saw one where Rob was calling Kim a "whore". Hmm

PaulAnkaTheDog · 18/01/2017 22:58

They're disgusting really. You only need to look at how Kylie has been exploited to see that. Literally the day she turned 18 the instagram posts became more sexual and the relationship with the mid 20s rapper was acknowledged and in the open. They're sick tbh.

Schoolisback1973 · 18/01/2017 22:58

My DD is 9 and there is no way I would let her watch this crap!! Life is too short. She won't even understand half of the crap they're talk about.
I think at 9 I would push for tv shows with better role models!! Honestly! people who say they empower women, that's BS!!

Metallic · 18/01/2017 23:02

It is still a show. It's popular culture it is what's going on in the world amongst other things. No point denying it. Or hiding it.
There is no viewing certificate or warning. There is nothing graphic or in my opinion vulgar in the show. Lots of recent episodes including their young children in it.
Very nice family I say and good for them.
With a little supervision I will be allowing dd to watch these powerful business women achieve their goals. I will also be allowing her to watch disney, the discovery channel or many of the other things that interest her and add to her understanding of the world. She knows the Kardashians are fake in a sense as they are on the show getting their hair and make up done she knows they didn't wake up like that and that beauty starts from the inside. I tell her she is beautiful everyday I also tell her she is smart and funny. I think my parenting is well balanced and it's a shame nobody has commented with a bit of open mindedness to this.

OP posts:
PaulAnkaTheDog · 18/01/2017 23:10

See when you tell her about inner beauty in relation to the Kardashian family, do you also show her photos of Kim, Kylie and khloe before and after surgery? Y'know, just to let her know how inner beauty is perceived by these women she is growing to idolize?

It's utterly pathetic parenting to think that these women are in some way good viewing for your child. It's sad and disturbing. You say she likes history etc documentaries. Why not just let her watch them with a bit of Nickelodeon etc thrown in?! Not a family that throw each other under the bus for ratings. That's not female empowerment, that's bitches getting one over on their sisters.

CommunionHelp · 18/01/2017 23:16

Can i also point out Katie price and half the Kardashians are successful working MOTHERS. Bashing other hard working mum's on mumsnet is rather hypocritical

Very nice family I say and good for them

OP, you big tease. But if you want to keep this BSthread going, then don't go too far.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 18/01/2017 23:25

They're all lovely , dontcha know Communion? Tearing females down around them but making money in the process #rolemodels #femaleempowerment

Schoolisback1973 · 18/01/2017 23:39

How does your DD know they are fake? what is her understanding at 9 of 'being fake'?
They're not fake. They are as dysfunctional and morally corrupt as you see them.

Metallic · 18/01/2017 23:40

So calling them bitches is ok but they can't call eachother that? (Which btw I havn' t heard on anything recent that's been on)
I don't force dd to watch if she happens to ask me if she can, I check what the episode is about deem whether it's appropriate or not and make a decision. I turned off an episode of friends recently because it seemed to relvove more around a sexual nature. I care deeply about dds empowerment as she grows and the level of exposure she should have from certain subjects. And so whilst the content is healthy fun and happy to make fun of themselves whilst making money and achieving their goals i won't be banning the kardashians in my house.
Too much fame shaming and money guilt going on in this world. Not to mention inverted feminism. There are times I have to flip over from the news when dd is in the room. It's the Kardashians, it's not that serious, it's almost satire and yet they are rich and successful WOMEN. And that can only be positive.
I have considered genuine sounding comments and if anything too adult themed arises or any old episodes Nickelodeon will be switched to or better still just go out and do something else.
I'm done with this for now. Bible.

9 is a bit young maybe 14 is a better age of understanding the slang and sex talk and behaviour, talking about shaving their private parts and doing it on the show not really my cup of tea and wouldn't dream of exposing this programme to my twin girls age 8, they enjoy watching history/wildlife programmes and normal telly for their age group because you can't really say The Kardashians are interesting! They all make bad decisions in life with the men they are with and are self obsessed! 14 yes.. 9.. No!

PaulAnkaTheDog · 18/01/2017 23:52

So why start a thread unless to be goady?

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 19/01/2017 00:07

The episodes I've seen were unsuitable for a 9 year old. However, I wouldn't be in the least surprised if there was a pre watershed cut available for children. I can imagine Kris pitching that to some poor TV exec who'd be too frightened to say 'no'.

I do wonder how anyone would explaine skills, relative affluence and societal approval to a newly arrived alien from outer space. We're fine with the Phil Greens of this world having loads of money, unless he's caught with his hand directly in the till. We don't mind men who can kick a ball doing well or women who can hold a tune but women wearing very little can sod off.

We value very odd things.

Nanny0gg · 19/01/2017 00:50

or in my opinion vulgar in the show.

Hahahahahahahahaha!

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/01/2017 01:05

Why on earth would you let your child watch this vacuous nonsense?

They are famous for being famous and for shagging people (usually on video) and of course there's Caitlin.

IWouldLikeToSeeTheseMangoes · 19/01/2017 07:40

What a load of old bollocks OP Grin I don't believe this for a minute.

As for your last comment I'm done with this for now. Bible

Cringe. Sure YOU are even old enough to be watching this shite??
