'Government handouts'... Sigh... Yabbadabbo money is good and necessary but it doesn't automatically mean an easy or a happy life. I reckon being a Royal, any Royal is one of the most difficult and horrible jobs there is.

They are constantly scrutinised more than any other 'celeb' and are set up on such a high pedestal by the entire world. They have to work by putting on this show of perfection 100% of the time. Most people would give up that job after 24 hours if put in the position.

Their job is to represent our entire country, there's no real 'time off' from that. They bring in a lot of revenue, and have to honour the whole dynasty before them.

I don't think they're all amazing but I think they do a good job considering what they have to do. The 'government handouts' line is old, tired and totally unfair. They deserve everything they get.

Hair looks a tad silly in that photo.

I reckon many people on minimum wage jobs desperately trying to support their families and make ends meet would love to give being a royal a go. Unfortunately due to the completely undemocratic job application process (being born to the right parents) no one gets a chance. We don't even get to choose who represents our country in this way.

lokisglowstickofdestiny1 · 17/01/2017 19:57

She looked fine, I'm just pleased that the Cambridge's and Harry are supporting and promoting the issue of mental health. I'm not a monarchist but any stretch of the imagination but if they can leverage more support by their involvement that's a good use of their privilege.

Jaagojaago · 17/01/2017 19:59

Probably had children that wake mega early and maybe in the night too.

Kate Middleton probably has that taken care of.

Excited101 · 17/01/2017 20:00

No, we don't Purple, because we are fortunate to have a fantastic history and family line of Royals that many countries are in awe of.

I'm sure they would love to give it a go (think contestants on Big Brother) but once the novelty of having to embody perfection had worn off they'd rather go back to their normal lives... It takes a strong person to be able to manage under that incredibly constant pressure. It'd be either get thrown off of run yourself into the ground.

dawnmist · 17/01/2017 20:02

She looks 100% better than me on a bad day than I do on a good day.
I should bloody well hope so the amount of money it must have cost to make her look good, not to mention the amount of time she has to spend on herself.

Jaagojaago · 17/01/2017 20:02

we are fortunate to have a royal family

I've read it all now.

So what? Plenty of things throughout history have been ditched when we realised they weren't compatible with modern society. I can't believe anyone still thinks we should select our country's head based on their parents and birth order.

FizzBombBathTime · 17/01/2017 20:04

Maybe she had a mad one at oceana and is on the come down

PokemonWanker · 17/01/2017 20:04

Never see these kind of threads about men looking tired. 🙄

WaterLilie · 17/01/2017 20:05

For anyone who thinks she's washed out looking after two kids, she has nannies, probably maids, butlers, a personal chef, a stylist and a whole load of help in general. I suspect she's hardly changed many nappies, if at all; probably never come home after a hard day's work and had to do the teatime, bathtime and bedtime routine, which is utterly exhausting and which many mums have to do daily, with no sympathy. She has it extremely easy compared to most mums - no money worries, living in luxury, loads of help and support.

ChampagneCommunist · 17/01/2017 20:05

A high profile couple championing mental health? Good for them.

Also, a suet pudding for tea wouldn't go amiss

MichaelSheensNextDW · 17/01/2017 20:09

I think she's very beautiful and the profile they're giving mental health issues is fantastic.
However - look at Princess Mary of Denmark: a decade older but she radiates vitality. She has the same dark hair/pale skin but absolutely glows, and having seen pics of her on the beach etc it's not all dewy makeup.
Is it the smoking? She has a very 'dry' look about her skin, perhaps she doesn't know about the benefits of a good balm cleanser.

loaferloveforyou · 17/01/2017 20:10

OP, is that you Kate, fishing for compliments? You looked lovely! Grin

SasherinSuite · 17/01/2017 20:10

Oh please....Hmm

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 17/01/2017 20:12

True, she probably has more staff than I have dust bunnies.

It probably takes two just to blow dry the hair.

Excited101 · 17/01/2017 20:13

I do think we're fortunate, not just for 'royals' per se, (as Jaago so kindly summarised for me) but for the history and family line that we have. Without the royals themselves we'd still have all the buildings and objects what would need to be paid for and protected.

Like it or not the Royals do bring in an awful lot of revenue and due to the fact that it's the family line rather than actually leading the country in the way our PM is paid to do that's what they do, they of course don't need voting in! That would defeat the whole point! The 'So what' is that no one is going to want to come and visit an (even more pointless) prime minister type figure, whereas they do for the Royals.

CrystalMcPistol · 17/01/2017 20:13

Holy hair extensions batman!

PurpleDaisies · 17/01/2017 20:15

France seems to alright for tourists.

helpimitchy · 17/01/2017 20:15

Leave Kate Alone 😭

I think she's great and I like her new hair. I like what they're doing for mental health too.

TammySwansonxx · 17/01/2017 20:16

The poor woman has worked as many as 2 days in the past month - give her a break. She's got 2 kids and a punishing workload.

CrystalMcPistol · 17/01/2017 20:16

'Never see these kind of threads about men looking tired.'

There were at least two threads recently talking about Ben Affleck and how less than fresh he was looking on Graham Norton's chat show.

Binglesplodge · 17/01/2017 20:16

I'm not convinced that having staff means she, or anyone else, doesn't do any parenting. She's not a robot. If your little child is crying for you in the night, regardless of having staff, you'd find it hard not to go to them, wouldn't you? Is that just me?
