Need to give up the wine and chocolate.

Why oh why would you torture yourself though? I mean fine if you're downing a bottle a day and gorging your way through a few chocolate bars a day, but if it's a treat why?

Why not be a little chubbier and happier?

I'm the same height as you and currently weigh around 12 stone and am a size 14-16 (sometimes 18 for tops, as I have huge norks!). I was 14 stone not long ago (BMI obese) and ideally would like to get my BMI down to normal which is about 11st so I'm hoping to lose another stone this year then maintain it.

Lovelillies , do you do a lot of exercise ? I just wonder because that is very similar to my shape at 10 stone and yet I am the same height .

thefitfatty because I'm not happy feeling chubbier - call me shallow but I like compliments on my weight and figure. I know that's warped and I'm conforming to society. Also I know it's not good for me.

It's two glass of wine and half a posh chocolate bar a day at the moment. No one can say that's good for you.

Most things aren't good for you. :) But I suppose we all make our sacrifices. Good luck cutting them out.

Op. how much do you weigh? Set yourself goals, say half a stone at a time, decide on an eating plan, get some exercise, understanding what others weigh isn't going to help you, be they fat or thin.

I'm slightly overweight but half a stone of it is in my boobs. Bmi takes no account of body shape.

Well, this is me at 12 stone. Not thin, not fat. Curvy maybe? Active and healthy definitely. Happy 100%. :) Everyone's goals are different.

I'm the same height and weigh 10st7oz. Currently at my heaviest ever, never got back down to original weight after having dc2. Look OKish, bit wider around the middle and thighs than is healthy though. Wearing size 12 or 14 dependent on shop. Aiming to get back to 9 stone, size 10 this year.

lightgreenglass, it doesn't sound excessive but if you are only looking to lose 3 or 4 lbs I suppose cutting those things out would do the trick. How about cutting back instead, though? Say having one glass of wine a night two or three nights during the week, and only a quarter of the bar of chocolate, and maybe designating one or two days a week choc-free.

I think the power of habit is immense. I was brought up with the idea that the sweeter/fattier/stodgier/saltier the food is the tastier it is (Scottish family) and that if you enjoyed a little bit you'll enjoy a lot even more. One way round that is to cut the calorific stuff out altogether - out of sight, out of mind. Another (and to my mind harder, but in the long way probably more sustainable) way is to retrain myself to be satisfied with smaller portions and far more occasional treats - so occasional that they really are treats once more, not routine.

Same height, currently 10 and a half which nudges me into size 14 on bottom half as I'm pear shaped.
I look better at 10 stone and my days as 9 stone anything are long gone

I get what you mean OP but it varies massively from person to person. Bone density and frame have to come into account as a pp said.
I'm the same height and my ideal is 11st. I'm a LOT more at the moment, but this is my target. Will put me into size 12 clothes without looking too thin in my face or losing my boobs.

And yes, clothes sizes vary massively from person to person! I'm big boobs and bum but relatively slim waist and middle when not pregnant like now! So clothes can be 10/12 depend what/where from x

The fit I can't get my head around you being 4 stone heavier than me but looking like that!
You must have lead bones!
Just shows that height and weight are so so different for everyone

I'm finding age a pain in that where thanks to big boobs and bum I could carry more weight and be in 12-14 dresses sizes still when younger but last few years my waist size has increased.

So while in my 20 this weight I was still 14-16 size now in my 40s it's 18-20 and doesn't carry as well.

In my 20's at 5 6 I was told 10 stone was ideal but found 11 stone slim enough - now I'm looking more at waist size, due to family history of diabetes, but suspect I'll need to be nearer the 10 than before.

I'm 5ft 7.5 inches weigh 10stone 9 and I am within my bmi, size 12, look thin and feel healthy. My healthy range is between 9.5 and 11 stone. So I think at your height your healthy range is between 9 and 10.5 stone

Large frame and I'm active. Frame size and muscle mass means a lot.

I'm the same height, 11 stone puts me in size 10, currently 11st11 and comfortably in a size 12

I am your height. Aiming to get down to 11 stone (from 13ish) and then consider whether I need to lose another stone/half stone. 11 stone feels like a much more realistic target than something starting with a 10.
