To be annoyed by Andre Rieu refund?

Last February I bought three tickets for Andre Rieu concert in December 2016. Not my cup of tea but elderly relatives thrilled. Tickets (3) were £240 but a £27 service charge even though I had to print them out myself so not sure what the £27 covered.

Concert was cancelled because of orchestra member's illness. I emailed asking for refund. Eventually I got a refund of £240 which will take a month to appear in my account. The £27 is non refundable. AIBU to feel ripped off?

IT is usually the admin charge. Some theatres charge this and some don't. Places like Ticketmaster always do. They won't refund it. At least you didn't have to go to the concert!

Yes, it's a rip off. These agencies tend to make the rules up as they go along.

Yes, you're right. When I think about it, I suppose I would happily pay £27 not to sit through three hours of Viennese waltzes while crinolined ladies whirl round the stage. A blessing, really.

While the orchestra gurn at each other

One of the orchestra members died. A friend of mine went mid December and told me about this guy dying the next day and that the rest of the tour had been cancelled. I was really surprised, but apparently all these guys are really close. They've been touring and living together for something like 20 years and the majority of them are married within the company. Sorry you lost your £27. That sucks.

I agree that the death of the trombonist is very sad indeed. If the £27 service charge was going to his family I'd be quite happy.

However, since that money has just disappeared for ever into Ticketmaster's coffers, I'm very annoyed indeed. And that charge is multiplied many hundreds of times over the three cancelled concerts. Feckers.
