To delete the program or break the tv?

The program in question is Cbeebies Christmas show The Nutcracker that was on tv during Christmas (which was 3 weeks ago!)
DH recorded it for DS1. All good.
Except we now have to watch it twice (sometimes more!) a day every day for the past 3 weeks!
DS2 who is 18m loves it so much that asks for it again as soon as it's finished! DS1 is somehow still not sick of it either.
And they are relentless.

What do i do? I want to delete it but then I think of DS2 happy little face when it comes on and i just can't bring myself to do it
Help me!

I've caught myself sarcastically copying the dialogue and making faces - i need this to stop.

Don't delete It, instead use the time they are watching it to drink tea and mumsnet!

We had this with the tale of mr tumble. I could recite the entire thing. It was horrendous, I feel your pain.

We now sing "It's [not] Christmas." Just to alleviate the boredom really.

My ds is obsessed with the film cars

Oh god, the Tale of Mr Tumble! It was repeated over Christmas and DH recorded it for DD (3). She has been watching it over and over. It's terrible!
Watching Mr Tumble flirting with Tootsie makes my skin crawl.

I don't think we have had this much repetition with any program before.
It's messing with my head!

I was thinking if the kids are adopted and is that why they never refer to their parents as Mum and Dad?
Also do the parents actually know about the Land of Sweets? And why is it called the Land of Sweets when it's mostly about toys and really not about Sweets?
So many questions, I suppose I better watch it again to find out (not envy)

But in the blink of an eye, you go from thinking if I have to endure the creepy Granny Murray and the stupid Tombliboos and their giant toothbrushes I will explode! To your youngest dc not wanting to hold your hand or talk to you in public. Where did the time go? Or your eldest asking to watch a 12 rated film, saying no they're too young, then being told they are 12.

My ds was obsessed with The Lorax, it drove me to the brink of complete insanity and like you I felt to guilty to delete it from the planner, no helpful tips from me 😩 oh and The Cat in the bastard Hat!

I'm sooo glad DGS is 9 now so I don't have to watch the same mind numbingly dull programmes over and over again. Used to find myself humming the theme tune to Octonauts etc

Would telling them that watching Christmas Programmes after a certain date is very unlucky, work? A sort of C Beebies 12th night.

Could continued watching perhaps affect future visits from Santa or would that be taking it altogether too far.

This is the big problem with digital video recorders, you can't accidentally record the exorcist or your bit of fun with the milkman half way through the show, so the kids know you deleted it...

I'm sure life was much easier for the previous generation (of course the one before that didn't have a video and just had 15 minutes of Bod or Mr Benn to sit through.

We are still 'enjoying' 'Peter Pan' on iplayer for the 2nd year running ... am still not word perfect.

With my elder DD now 10 it was Elmo's Christmas countdown for a whole year when she was 4/5 I hate Elmo.

It's Go Jetters that is the major obsession here. I can tell you the storyline for any given location!
