NC to be anon, but I just don't think this is right at all. I kind of want to tip off someone about this theft, but I know if she gets caught she will be in a bigger mess.

It's more a WWYD?

Well we've been through all this several times already but not al meter-jacking methods are dangerous, some are more dangerous than others blah diddy blah.

I didn't know that - thank you @LandLock.

"It's possible to disapprove of the action and simultaneously sympathise with the predicament."

This is exactly how I feel, @Manumission. It beggars belief that, in a developed country, a rich country, we have people who have to rely on handouts from a food bank or a fuel bank. Where people have to choose between feeding themselves/their family and staying warm - and not toasty-warm, either - just warm enough not to die of cold.

As I said in my earlier post I would definitely report it just as I would report a shoplifter. (I'd also report benefit fraudsters) However, as I also actively give to charities that deal with child poverty I'm not sure how I would be 'judged' by some Mumsnetters.

Sorry been a busy weekend with my two DC and family members staying. I'm very baffled by the majority of the responses here, and the back stories that have been totally made up! She's struggling because of debts from credit cards, she's wasted plenty of money on non essential stuff!

Anyway as I clearly said, I wasn't sure at the start. But as soon as people pointed out the safety aspect I reported. I don't regret it either, it may be cold at the moment but I expect it will take a while to get inspected.
