To ask what car are you driving if you have 3 DC

Who all use carseats?

I've just found out I'm pregnant Shock, still in a bit of a shock actually.
Already have 2DC, youngest is only 18months. Anyway amongst other things i realised we probably will need a new car.
What car do you have that works well with 2young DC + baby and has space for buggies etc?

We have the 5 seat scenic (2 car seats & 1 teenager). I love it for practicality. The middle seat is a proper full size seat with isofix the back seats have runners to move forwards & back. We've had 3 high back boosters in the back and fitted really well. I can also use DDs britax booster in the middle seat (checked w/britax), which you can't normally in a middle seat.

C4 Grand Picasso. So much space and as pp said, a great drive.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 14/01/2017 21:51

Kia sedona. Has two front seats, two seats behind those and then a row.of three at the back. We have a seat taken out ATM as we only need the six seats and it makes for loads of space.

Old ford fiesta diesel 1.4.
A car on finance is looking tempting right nowGrin

buckingfrolicks · 14/01/2017 22:05

how DID our parents and grandparents cope with small cars and three kids? It is beyond me why anyone needs a massive car to ferry kids about. Are you going to drive round the world?

Rainydayspending · 14/01/2017 22:09

C4 Grand picasso. Honestly not all of mine are in car seats now. But I can also drive friends/ other children in car seats.
Of course, i am a smug cow who only uses that car when a drive is actually necessary. Mainly we walk.
My parents coped with 4 kids in the back of an escort (2 in one seatbelt) no car seats. You can try it if you want. But I'd report it if i saw it.

FranHastings · 14/01/2017 23:38

Our parents didn't have to use seat belts or car seats. I remember them being fitted in our car. I came home from the hospital in a carrycot balanced on the back seat. Not hugely into catapulting my children through a windscreen, so I think I will stick with my 'massive car'. Hmm

mygorgeousmilo · 15/01/2017 01:16

Nissan x-trail and we love it! Massive boot and x2 extra seats.

Rollonbedtime7pm · 15/01/2017 09:04

Just bought a C4 picasso - great car!

3 full isofix seats in the back, massive boot, loads of space but easy to drive and looks like a large car rather than a bus!

Rainmaker1 · 15/01/2017 10:08

If you want reliability avoid Landrover or anything French.

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 15/01/2017 12:00

XC90 is the nicest car I've ever had. Room for 3 car seats in the middle row mad massive boot. If you have the back row up, that takes 2 booster seats.

oblada · 15/01/2017 18:01

Rainmaker - euh thanks on the sweeping French car comment lol :) our Renaults have been a pain true but I've had a fab little Peugeot too!! and my citroen is pretty great (berlingo).
love our ford galaxy too tho!
what i would not like with the landrover is the mpg - very poor!!

septembersunshine · 15/01/2017 18:07

S max. 4 kids.

JaneEyreWasASellout · 15/01/2017 18:44

.

MazDazzle · 15/01/2017 19:12

Rainmaker1 I have never heard anyone question Landrover's reliability before. We've had ours 5 years (3 years old when we got it) and have never had any car trouble at all. Is there a particular model that you are against? Ours is a Discovery.

Tinuviel · 15/01/2017 19:23

Zafira. We're on our second one. Kids were 5, 3 and 18 months when we got the first one. Drove it for 10 years and it was fab. We've taken 6 of us to France (a friend came with us). It was a bit squashed for the journey there and back but once there we got the extra seat out in the back and it was fine. Boot space is non-existent limited with both back seats up but other than that, it's great.

conversation.which.co.uk/motoring/land-rovers-unreliable-but-the-brands-still-strong/

Quite old now but I think that the reputation used to be deserved, the newer models might be better.
I have had three Peugeots that consistently let me down, I never would buy another one.
We have had XC90s for the past few years and been happy with them, expensive for tyres though.
