To expect school shoes to last longer than 3 months?

Granted ds wears them 5 days a week but there were advertised as school shoes.
The front sole has come away and the leather across the velcro has come away too. I've superglued them 3 times.
They weren't cheap either, real leather barefoot ones for £60

DS1 always had Clarks when he was little but their quality turned pretty terrible after a few years. Start Rite's Rhinos are incredible, and Timberland's school shoes are amazing. Both DCs have Timberland winter boots and they still look in great condition.

Dms are the way to go.i thought the plain black shoes were unisex, although I'm basing this on my school days twenty years ago how did I get so old

When you buy something (in the UK), you expect it to last a reasonable lenght of time and have legal redress should it not.

Contact the shop / manufacturer and I bet you're pleasantly surprised.

OMG, I thought it was just DS!! Now I feel better. I find it ridiculous that they last such a short time. I had just resorted to buying cheap shoes since the expensive ones don't last any longer. I haven't found a brand I find hits the right spot yet.

I have ail they've replied asking for pics, which I have done. Haven't heard back.
I emailed in a tone of 'letting them know' rather than demanding a refund/exchange.

I too think that a shoe advertised for school use and cost that much should last much longer

@bigkidsdidit

I think that typo may have just confirmed this phone is not actually new

The shit that auto correct comes up with that I have never in my life written or had cause to write is unbelievableHmm

Well good news. The website which I bought the shoes off (happy little soles) have offered to exchange them. Great customer service Grin

I switched to Geox in September, and that pair still looks pristine although are on the edge of being outgrown. Unfortunately DS2 is one size behind so may not be available to wear this pair out by the time he starts in September.

Last year we started in Clarks. The velco had too little overlap, so the expanse of rough velco was exposed and constantly filled with carpet fluff, then ceased to stick, so they fell off, then he'd mash his feet back in over the heel. They were replaced with M&S which were OK for function, but did get quite tatty easily.

Sometimes my DCs last a year in the same size, and I resent having to replace the shoe in the same size because it wasn't designed to last until it was outgrown.
