Just to see exactly how much there is lost?

I have a new cup so I'm a bit intrigued by it all. Does anyone else have a FemmyCycle? It's a shit name but it's a special 'low cervix' version for fat old people with a falling out uterus.

Anyway. Having taken to bleeding what feels like 4 litres every month I'd like to know how much it really is so propose a bit of a collection.

Sorry to hear that Moist. Hope you are sitting down with a cup of tea and high iron cake. Have a stout as well.

Last empty before bed. 25ml
Running total 268ml

I think I might book a gp appt to check my iron levels.

bananafish81 · 12/01/2017 22:02

Thanks for the quiz tip, I'll try that!

Yes I trimmed the stem, but it was the width of the cup that gave me a tiny tear at the base of the vulva (I don't have any problems with sex but obvs a period is rather different circumstances!)

Trying to get it in was painful regardless of the fold I tried, getting it out was agony. It was also trying to jam two fingers up there to break the seal and pull the damn thing out. I was red raw and stung like buggery!!

MOIST · 12/01/2017 22:08

Jesus Bertie. That is a lot.

Another 10ml for me.

Running total 38ml.

I feel like it should be more.

I measured my period once, I'm like berties - I had over 200ml loss on my first day. I laugh at the nhs page with its "anything over 60ml is a heavy period".

Bertiebottsbum · 13/01/2017 08:58

Overnight update
12.30 emptied 20ml
5.30 am emptied 35ml
9am emptied 42ml

I had a lie in because I was feeling fairly tired.

Running total 365ml

MOIST · 13/01/2017 09:01

08.00 30ml

This is much much lighter than last few have been. I so hope the menopause is happening.

MOIST · 13/01/2017 09:02

Sorry. That is 3ml not 30.

Overnight!

Bertiebottsbum · 13/01/2017 11:39

Emptied again at 11.30 further 38ml
Running total. 403ml

MOIST · 13/01/2017 12:33

12.00

2ml

This is a very odd one. It's like gunky end stuff. I've missed my usual 3 days of pouring out. Halle-bloody-luliah

Natsku · 13/01/2017 12:44

That is a huge amount bertie how can you even manage to stand up with that level of blood loss??!!

emmyhNL · 13/01/2017 12:52

This is utterly intriguing. Bertie: how are you feeling after losing so much?

Bertiebottsbum · 13/01/2017 13:00

Feeling a bit tired with a bit of back ache but am still functioning. To be honest this rate of flow will stop today so i am feeling positive.
I knew my periods were heavy but I am surprised at the volume.

Bertiebottsbum · 13/01/2017 13:35

Emptied at 1.30. 26ml
Running total 429ml

ProseccoandPizza · 13/01/2017 13:46

Stumbled upon this and wondering if it is related to a medical condition now. I'm almost 31, one emergency c section and a history of anemia pre my child. I almost had a blood transfusion afterwards, I was bleeding heavily for three months afterwards. Even though I had Depo injection at 6 week review. In the end I was prescribed a course of steroids to stop the bleeding. From January 2011 until May 2014 I continued with the Depo and didn't have any periods whatsoever. I then experimented with a few different oral contraceptives (none ageeed with me) before having a copper coil fitted in April 2015. Gradually my periods have changed, over the last few months they've got a lot worse. I'd say the first day or so is just random spotting and then day 2 - 5 is horrendous. I had a super plus tampon in for under 4 hours before flooding and back up blood when removing it too. According to the link above that counts as 10ml. Bloody no way a whole period is two or three tablespoons. Following with interest!

Natsku · 13/01/2017 15:01

I'm pretty much constantly anaemic, came close to needing a transfusion after giving birth, had one while pregnant (or maybe it was the other way round, can't remember)

Funny thing is, I swear my periods have been lighter since I started using a cup.

MOIST · 13/01/2017 16:42

Why is it that period pain bears no relation to how heavy it is? I'm working nights so have to spread out the drugs further than if working days and sleeping for big chunks and am running out of options.

OP posts:
DesolateWaist · 13/01/2017 17:50

My running total is two full moon cups, and some what can only be described as chopped liver.
This is day two and I change by cup throughout the day so I'm making a rough total there.
I consider myself to have fairly light periods.

MOIST · 13/01/2017 17:57

17.50. 5ml. This is very weird.

OP posts:
MOIST · 13/01/2017 17:58

Last month I emptied my cup about 8 times a day, with overflow.

OP posts:
Bertiebottsbum · 13/01/2017 17:59

17.45 a further 40ml.
Running total 469ml

LaContessaDiPlump · 13/01/2017 19:16

Christ alive Bertie, are you sure you're ok?!

TheSpottedZebra · 13/01/2017 19:35

Yes, Bert that sounds a huge amount. Go and chug some Floradix.
