To collect all my menstrual stuff in a bottle?

Just to see exactly how much there is lost?

I have a new cup so I'm a bit intrigued by it all. Does anyone else have a FemmyCycle? It's a shit name but it's a special 'low cervix' version for fat old people with a falling out uterus.

Anyway. Having taken to bleeding what feels like 4 litres every month I'd like to know how much it really is so propose a bit of a collection.

I think that would be interesting. It feels like loads but like Furry said, is apparently not that much.

Aeroflotgirl · 11/01/2017 14:26

😛😳😳😳😳😳😱😱😱😱😱😱😱. Op op yuck.

Jaysis · 11/01/2017 14:28

Aeroflot, she said she'd measure it, not drink it Grin

PurpleMcPants · 11/01/2017 14:28

jaysis wasn't the couple of spoonfuls in relation to how much actual blood you lose (as opposed to uterus lining etc)? I vaguely remember reading that, it was to reassure you that the actual blood was a tiny amount, even if you 'bleed' copiously.

ageingrunner · 11/01/2017 14:29

Ooh I had to stop using my mooncup because of bloody fibroids. I didn't know there were lower down ones!
Yanbu op. If I do get a new cup I might join you and put it on the garden as a pp suggested Smile

ClaryIsTheBest · 11/01/2017 14:30

I'm super interested for some reason.

If I Was a cup user I'd think about doing this as well. It's weird but also kind of interesting

Cherylene · 11/01/2017 14:30

Tablespoon = 15ml, even in the 80s! They always say a small amount of blood goes a long way..............

I think those books were minimising. Hmm

YetAnotherSpartacus · 11/01/2017 14:31

I think they did that experiment on Embarassing Bodies or whatever it was called (the one with the rather beguiling Dr Christian).

Jaysis · 11/01/2017 14:35

PurpleMcPants

Probably it was actual blood they measured, rather than other product but that's seriously misleading. The other things they totally misled us all on was the colour and consistency. I knew what blood looked like, fuck knows I had permanent scabs on my knees in childhood, but that first period was brown and lumpy and nothing like blood. Hmm

They massively minimised everything!

LaContessaDiPlump · 11/01/2017 14:37

Mooncup user here and I thoroughly approve Grin

On a related note, I used to be amazed by DS2's urine output and once used an old baby bottle to measure just how much pee had emerged from him. I was amazed to discover that his bladder was holding more than twice the expected volume for a child his age ([Age + 1]*30 if you're interested) Shock

He used to drink an awful lot!!

BoomBoomsCousin · 11/01/2017 14:38

You might be better off weighing than measuring (because of losing some as you pour from the cup into a measuring container). You could weigh with tampons or towels too. - just weigh whatever you use before hand and subtract that weight from the end measurement.

Pettywoman · 11/01/2017 14:41

I agree with the poster who says measure and record the amount as you go. Don't store it in a bottle or you'll have to take it with you when you're out, plus it's rank.

WonderMike · 11/01/2017 14:42

Dunno how big the tablespoons were in the 80's. Maybe they meant ladlespoons

Grin Oh my god yes. Not the massacre in the toilet bowl I get.

LunaLoveg00d · 11/01/2017 15:00

Definitely interesting to know.

I had a gynae op recently and asked the surgeon to take a pic of what she removed. Few raised eyebrows, but she obliged. Won't be using it as my profile pic on Facebook though.

Creampastry · 11/01/2017 15:01

That's so gross .... but I'm intrigued!! Let us know! Don't they say it's like 2 tablespoons or something which is bollocks!

Blobby10 · 11/01/2017 15:03

Twerp by using my mooncup I discovered that I lost that amount during the first 24 hours of my period!!

moist is it getting clottier too? (sorry TMI!!) mines getting horrid these days. Lovely to have periods i can rely on (ie every 28 days instead of varying each month from 30 to 65 days apart) but they are heavier Sad

anotherdayanothersquabble · 11/01/2017 15:07

I remember being told it was an egg cup full. ... definetively not! !

Surreyblah · 11/01/2017 15:12

This is all a bit Angelina Jolie!

Jaysis · 11/01/2017 15:16

Surreyblah, that's the first time in my life I've been compared to AJ. Grin

FurryLittleTwerp · 11/01/2017 15:18

Blobby [shock}

FurryLittleTwerp · 11/01/2017 15:19

oops, shock fail Shock Grin Blush

penguincrumble · 11/01/2017 15:21

Don't waste it on the garden, make menstrual art.

CalorieCreditEqualsCake · 11/01/2017 15:24

STOP THE PRESS!!

There's a menstrual holder for someone with a low cervix and uterus that's trying to escape?

I used to love my mooncup but then I had massive babies and now they no longer work.

Is FemmeCycle the answer????

Natsku · 11/01/2017 15:25

Now I'm tempted to as well! My cup fills to the brim at least 3 times in 24 hours for the first three days of my period. Plus measuring things is cool - when I was in hospital with a swollen kidney they made me wee into a jug for about a week and it was fascinating to see how much I actually wee in a day.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 11/01/2017 15:27

It's definitely not an egg cup full - that's about the size of my Squooncup (or whatever the flipping thing is called). I reckon maybe 3 or 4 egg-cups over a period?
