Rather than having a go at them on Twitter and describing them as second rate actresses. Hmm

Otherwise some people might just think you're a bit sensitive.

If that's how he's going to react when people call him out on things, he's going to have a very long 4 years in the White House

Shock Someone needs to block this Twitter feed or confiscate his phone before the Trump inadvertently kicks off WW3.

Lweji · 16/01/2017 08:24

FOX has also tweeted that:
"Mexico's unfilled border tunnels pose security risk, US officials say t.co/XSOF1agdaR"

I wonder if Trump will mention this.
It would mean acknowledging that people could get in the US under his huge wall. Grin

Maybe they haven't been filled yet, so that US citizens can escape the other way. Wink

Roussette · 16/01/2017 08:49

Trump has told Gove he's carrying on with the @DonaldTrump tweeting here

Megatherium · 16/01/2017 09:04

Interesting that Murdoch has effectively sent Gove to brown-nose Trump. It says far too much about Murdoch's continuing influence on our government.

FarAwayHills · 16/01/2017 09:05

Gove and Trump together just put me off my breakfast Sad

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/01/2017 09:18

Ugh. Gove on Radio 4 confessing that although Trump had said bad things in the past (and he really went out to stress the past bit) that Trump is charming and effectively likeable.
I want to weep this morning.

Lweji · 16/01/2017 09:24

Like a serial killer. "But he was such a nice person".

I'm sure Trump is a charmer. Particularly if you have specific interests in mind when describing him.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 16/01/2017 09:44

Yes gove was anxious to distance himself from trump while simultaneously putting his tongue up his arse.

I was glad he started with 'I've got no idea about trade negotiation' - that, at least, was true

amispartacus · 16/01/2017 10:11

".@NBCNews is bad but Saturday Night Live is the worst of NBC. Not funny, cast is terrible, always a complete hit job. Really bad television"

He is going to have a long 4 years. The more he has a go at them, the more they'll respond.

Megatherium · 16/01/2017 10:15

I hate to go all Godwin on this, but someone needs to point out to Gove that apparently Hitler was quite charming when you met him in person.

Megatherium · 16/01/2017 10:17

I find it hilarious that Trump really thinks the way to respond to people like Streep and the SNL mob is to claim they're bad at their jobs. He plainly knows nothing about it, they can all point to their viewing figures to show that the rest of the population doesn't agree with him, and anyway in relation to Streep at least it's irrelevant: she could be a totally shit actor, but that doesn't make her wrong about Trump.

Destinysdaughter · 16/01/2017 10:18

I watched The American Apprentice last night and it involved a task where the apprentices travelled in Trump's private jet. In the boardroom he later said, did you like the plane? Do you know, if you own a private plane you can get any woman you want! Shock

woman12345 · 16/01/2017 11:06

Do you know, if you own a private plane you can get any woman you want
Is this tactical sexism? This is a set up. I think it's goady ugly white man behaviour, know it well; think we should move on and organise.

woman12345 · 16/01/2017 11:15

Now 370 sister marches across the world on Jan 21st www.womensmarch.com/sisters/

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/01/2017 11:45

I think that the womens marches happen every year. There is just added impetus this year.

squishysquirmy · 16/01/2017 12:32

I'm going to try to attend a march, but the nearest one to me is a few hours away. I want to do something, it's not just about Trump but what feels like a growing wave of anti-feminism, anti-liberalism and general nastiness across the UK and beyond that worries me. I have little resources and influence so I know that whatever I do is going to have a negligible impact, but I want to try anyway. If you have any other ideas on what we can do, please share them woman12345!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/01/2017 13:12

We are going to need a new thread soon. It's been a pretty amazing discussion for AIBU. Clearly spartacus you were not!

I can barely bring myself to read the news today. The whole interview was sycophantic, full of mistruths, irrational and just entirely unpleasant. Gove pretending to be a journalist, when really he is just a pale version of Farage.

woman12345 · 16/01/2017 13:30

If you have any other ideas on what we can do, please share them woman12345 squishysquirmy
Lifted from another thread, and not meaning to be patronising, here you go:

Choosing or choosing not to:
get local churches involved in anti racist campaign or cross party discussions;
Get involved in Commonground for shared discussions on brexit;
stand for office locally or nationally;
use Women's equality party for resource for political training;
support local parties;
put EU flag up;
wear a slogan T shirt;
get involved in local and national political parties;
supporting trade unions;
supporting strikers;
choosing a popular local issue and campaigning on it ( like libs do so well);
challenging racism/ sexism/ disables/ agism each time it's seen;
treating co workers and employees with integrity;
being honest with children and young people about what you think; politically and encouraging them to get involved too;
linking up locally nationally and internationally with sympathetic organisations;
writing letters to newspapers;
writing articles;
taking care of self;
volunteering to teach non English speakers English;
supporting women's centres;
learn self defence;
learn passive resistance techniques;
going on the Women's March on Jan 21st;
sending contraceptives and abortion pills to US women's groups;
teaching our sons not to be sexist;
strike; (AC Grayling, historian calling for General Strike)
demonstrate;
learn laws on arrest;
practise for it;
support political prisoners;
write to prisoners and campaign for release;
write a song!
record a song;
write a film script;
make the film!
be kind;
be vigilant.

Any number of these activities, have helped change regimes, and have meant that many of us have been lucky enough to grow up in liberal affluence, because those who went before did the hard work for us.

It is possible to choose to, or not to do any one of the above to make a difference.

Roussette · 16/01/2017 13:53

That's a very good list woman.

amispartacus will you start a Part 2 thread? It's been an interesting discussion as we hurtle towards Friday's inaugaration...
Smile

birdybirdywoofwoof · 16/01/2017 14:01

Please do: trump-watch

I read that Le pen is going to up her tweeting coz it's so successful for trump- why not? you can make up your own narrative without any obstacles (such as facts) standing between you and your audience.

Floisme · 16/01/2017 14:26

Yeah please to a Trumpwatch thread. I haven't posted very much but I've enjoyed following this.

Le Pen scares me more than Trump to be honest. She's far more slick - and France is very close...

Lweji · 16/01/2017 14:29

I think we'll need an entire topic, actually.

woman12345 · 16/01/2017 14:42

nice thread, thanks amispartacus feminist Flowers

amispartacus · 16/01/2017 14:50

It's interesting to see who Trump follows on Twitter.

Our very own Piers Morgan. As well as members of his own family.
