Rather than having a go at them on Twitter and describing them as second rate actresses. Hmm

Otherwise some people might just think you're a bit sensitive.

If that's how he's going to react when people call him out on things, he's going to have a very long 4 years in the White House

It's headed "How to get a Maniac President out of Office without Impeachment" Grin

Lweji · 13/01/2017 17:28

V. Interesting.

Trump may still regret not reading the Constitution. But, more likely, they'll use it first to keep him in line.

Lweji · 13/01/2017 17:30

When he criticises companies, stocks fall, which in turn affects stockholders. Not that he cares.

He may care. I'd love to see his stock dealings over the last couple of months.

bumbleymummy · 13/01/2017 17:48

Did anyone else see the man on FB who didn't realise that obamacare and ACA were the same thing?

originalmavis · 13/01/2017 17:52

I almost hope they won't stop the Trumper. It's a great source of amusement (until you remember he's not Ali G).

UnGoogleable · 13/01/2017 17:53

Wow. Acting President Pence eh. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing!!

SurelyYoureJokingMrFeynman · 13/01/2017 17:57

Oh my word. That is a very interesting clip indeed, Roussette.

For anyone who hasn't watched, it's a short explanation of part of the US constitution.

The amendment writers didn't really think that one through, did they? Or, perhaps they did...

Lweji · 13/01/2017 18:05

Normally, one's VP won't be against you (unless you're in House of Cards).
Biden and Gore were too nice. Bush Senior just waited his turn and they could probably manipulate Reagan. Cheney was probably the one in charge anyway. Quayle was too dumb.

And they'd need the party to be against the President. Being a loud mouth outsider does increase the risk of it happening.

Plus, in normal circumstances it would feel like a coup d'état. Except that this time the electorate may be primed to support it.

Lweji · 13/01/2017 18:06

Speaking of Ali G, does anyone think he'd have a chance for an interview?

originalmavis · 13/01/2017 18:07

Sadly Mrs Merton is no longer available...

SurelyYoureJokingMrFeynman · 13/01/2017 18:14

Well, yes, it would absolutely be a coup d'etat.

Although at least the usurper would have already been directly personally elected to the Vice-Presidency, with the electorate knowing full well he would be next in line if something happened.

But still. OMG.Shock

Roussette · 13/01/2017 18:32

From that clip it seems it all stemmed from a President (can't remember which one, it says in the clip) who'd had a stroke and really couldn't do the job, and he wouldn't have it mentioned in his presence that he wasn't up to the job. So the Constitution has to be able to remove a rogue President doesn't it... ever hopeful here...

Lweji · 13/01/2017 18:33

Sadly Mrs Merton is no longer available...

Yes, she could ask Mrs Trump what first attracted her to billionaire assuming he is Mr Trump. Smile

squishysquirmy · 13/01/2017 18:34

That link was very interesting, but I don't think the comparison to precedents in the British system was very relevant - the systems are too different.

Roussette · 13/01/2017 19:02

I think they're just desperate to know that we in the UK can boot out a PM, and have done, so can they..

InformalRoman · 13/01/2017 19:09

Cheney was another one who didn't fully sever links with his business - Halliburton got nearly $40 billion of Iraq contracts as a result of the Iraq war.

TalkinPeace · 13/01/2017 19:18

I voted for Hillary.

I hope that no harm comes to Trump at all in any way (because Pence is really nasty)

But I have every cell in my body crossed that the GOP lose control of one (or ideally both) of the houses at the Mid Terms
and then he can do sweet FA in concrete terms

Lweji · 13/01/2017 19:25

Cheney was another one who didn't fully sever links with his business

But, in theory, the VP doesn't have executive power.

A quick search, though, shows that Cheney may have exerted some more influence than strictly allowed.

Lweji · 13/01/2017 19:27

But I have every cell in my body crossed that the GOP lose control of one (or ideally both) of the houses at the Mid Terms and then he can do sweet FA in concrete terms

That would be nice. However, the GOP has manipulated the electoral map to ensure they never lose the Senate. Or at least it's incredibly difficult. Maybe if they really screw up the next few years.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/01/2017 19:32

us spies warned Israel not to share Intelligence with Trump

do you think this could be true?

SwedishEdith · 13/01/2017 20:24

Louise Mensch just tweeted this thread from Christo Grozev which sounds interesting.

Erovinkin was x Chief Staff for Sechin, appt by Putin. FSB General. . One of few ppl w access scope (incl Putin) boasted by Steele source

Initially on Dec 26, several RU publications headlined with "Sechin's chief of staff killed"...later quietly changed headline to "died"

Last, (now-dead) Erovinkin was Managing Director of Rosneft at time of this alleged deal commitment with Carter Page

Initially, FSB-linked @lifenews_ru reported Sechin's associate was killed, found dead on back seat of company car. Later changed story to

.."was driving himself, got a heart attack but managed to park the car before he died". Initial story not searchable

Might Sechin's very close associate , ex FSB Oleg Erovinkin, found dead "of heart failure" in his car on Dec 26, have been Steele's source?

UnGoogleable · 13/01/2017 21:51

That link re Israel is terrifying.

Surely this is an unprecedented (unpresidented, Mr Trump?) state of affairs where the US intelligence agency is having to warn foreign powers that their own head of state is not to be trusted.

How on earth can this be allowed to continue - the man will have access to full intelligence briefings, matter of national security, foreign affairs, the lot, in 7 days time. What are they going to do, keep him out of those meetings in case he shares it with the Russians too?

Lweji · 13/01/2017 21:55

I'm guessing they'll select the data they share with him.

Lweji · 13/01/2017 21:56

Or share it, but use words longer than 3 syllables.

UnGoogleable · 13/01/2017 22:44

Or share it, but use words longer than 3 syllables. Grin love the idea of them being obliged to share info with him but disguising it with big words.

They could be really clever, bamboozle him with the big words but finish with a tweetable summary of something inconsequential... then wait for it to appear on Twitter.
