to think you should ignore people having a go at you if you are the President Elect of the USA

Rather than having a go at them on Twitter and describing them as second rate actresses. Hmm

Otherwise some people might just think you're a bit sensitive.

If that's how he's going to react when people call him out on things, he's going to have a very long 4 years in the White House

The more I read about this dossier and buzzfeed - the more I think there probably is nothing in it.
If intelligence services thought Trump was being blackmailed by Russia, they wouldn't waste any time making sure he is not sworn in for his presidency.
A shame, as I would to see Trump removed. I just can't see there being anything in this now.

PickledCauliflower · 13/01/2017 10:54

Sorry - no specs on typing that 🤓

InformalRoman · 13/01/2017 11:23

I think there is something in it - not so much the lurid stuff on Trump but more the ties to Russia.

BBC reporting that the ex-MI6 guy that put the dossier together worked for the FA on the 2018 World Cup bid, so sounds like he is credible.

Trump tweeting again:

Donald J. Trump ‏*@realDonaldTrump* 15m15 minutes ago

It now turns out that the phony allegations against me were put together by my political opponents and a failed spy afraid of being sued....

Totally made up facts by sleazebag political operatives, both Democrats and Republicans - FAKE NEWS! Russia says nothing exists. Probably...

released by "Intelligence" even knowing there is no proof, and never will be. My people will have a full report on hacking within 90 days!

If only he'd stopped at "Russia says nothing exists. Probably..." Wink

Roussette · 13/01/2017 11:32

I do want him to keep saying FAKE NEWS though Roman as am still considering putting a tenner on it for the inaugaration and cleaning up £200 Grin

InformalRoman · 13/01/2017 11:38

Ah but the inauguration is going to be "beautiful" and "sensual" (bleurghhh) so wouldn't shouting FAKE NEWS spoil the mood?

Although that's now put a horrible picture in my head and I may have to resort to brain bleach.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 13/01/2017 11:44

You can't say 'fake news' when you are having a softly sensual moment.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/01/2017 12:17

Trump must be very pleased that this is distracting attention from the fact that he wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act immediately, rather than waiting until there is some alternative in place - risking leaving some people with no health care.

He's promised to replace the ACA with something that gives people more and costs less - but he has not revealed one single detail of this incredible (in every sense) plan. Cynics might suggest this is because he doesn't actually have a plan....

Roussette · 13/01/2017 12:31

I felt he was on the back foot talking about it, he just waffled and said he wanted to replace it "very quickly or simultaneously" at the press conference.

There's a big difference when you are one of the 20 million who might not be covered.

UnGoogleable · 13/01/2017 14:37

He's on the back foot talking about everything. The man can't string a coherent sentence together.

Does he actually have any policy? I'm guessing his staff are working on it and there will in fact be some substance behind his bluster. But he himself is incapable of articulating any of it.

It will be interesting to see what he actually does when he's supposed to be doing the job. Because being President is very different to standing behind a podium waving your tiny hands around and shouting at journalists.

I'm convinced there is way more dirt on him by the way, the Russians have him over a barrel. What I don't understand is what are Comey's motivations behind effectively scuppering Hillary at the last hurdle whilst simultaneously hiding presumably equally damaging info on Trump?

Why is the FBI supporting him?

Lweji · 13/01/2017 14:55

Comey's game was GOP lead. They wanted their president. And I still suspect they will get rid of him asap if they can't control him.

His Inauguration speech will be written for him, but I'm hoping he will not resist ad-libbing some fake news.

Lweji · 13/01/2017 14:56

Ups, GOP led, not lead.

Roussette · 13/01/2017 14:58

Another donald tweetstorm then. Hitting out at "sleazebags". He's so presidential. Not.

Even his supporters are apparently now thinking he should come off twitter because of his inability to act in a professional manner, they are begging him to stop here

Lweji · 13/01/2017 15:03

I have no words about those supporters. Same as for Brexit voters that didn't quite grasp the implications until after the referendum.

Roussette · 13/01/2017 15:12

Exactly Lweji. You makes yer choices, you have to live with them. I did think he would calm down a bit but I just sorta knew he was always going to be a thin skinned ego driven arse who would hit out at every opportunity. If his voters couldn't see that, they're deluded.

Bearing in mind casting companies were contacted and jobbing actors were offered $50 to dress in the MAGA t shirts etc and cheer for him at rallies, I would've thought that it would be obvious to those there that all was not as it seems (understatement)

UnGoogleable · 13/01/2017 15:18

Ah ok, that makes sense - although I'm still stunned that the GOP ever thought he would be a good idea as Pres. Unless they think they can control him and use him as their puppet. But I suspect his strings will be pulled more strongly by Putin, and his own ego.

UnGoogleable · 13/01/2017 15:19

Yes of course it will - it will be very different from his press conference performance. More like his acceptance speech - subdued and on message proving the man has no presence when reading off an autocue.

UnGoogleable · 13/01/2017 15:25

That link you posted Roussette is hilarious:

"Please stop tweeting. I voted for you and expected you to measure your words and not respond to every little shot at you."

What on earth did they expect? Did they not see how he behaved before the election? He hasn't had a personality transplant. Although I am surprised they haven't taken his phone off him.

I read an interesting thing about how influential his tweets are, and therefore hugely open to hacking for people wishing to use it for their own means. Apparently the @POTUS twitter account goes through more security than a normal account, so he should be safer using that. I'm guessing they'll attempt to shut down @realDonaldTrump once he takes office.

MitzyLeFrouf · 13/01/2017 15:28

The GOP will have been working on their 'Hurrah we've got the Whitehouse, now let's get rid of Trump and stick one of our other guys in there' since 5 mins after the result came in.

UnGoogleable · 13/01/2017 15:34

I've always thought Paul Ryan was being lined up for the job.

But then why didn't he just run? Perhaps because he's hard right (I think?) and they thought he'd be unpalatable... but if they let DJT make such a shit show of it, the public will be so grateful to be rid of him they'll accept anyone with open arms...

I think they're giving Cheeto man enough rope to hang himself, and his Twitter performance is music to the GOPs ears.

Lweji · 13/01/2017 15:42

I'm still stunned that the GOP ever thought he would be a good idea as Pres.

They didn't. They never wanted him as their candidate, but at some point they decided it was better to have him in rather than Hillary.
So far they have managed to squeeze in of few of their own in his administration and they have an old faithful as Vice-President. He is likely to either guide Trump or replace him eventually.

Lweji · 13/01/2017 15:50

"The nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget said earlier this month that repealing President Barack Obama's signature health insurance law in its entirety would cost roughly $350 billion over the next decade."
Shock

His best alternative strategy, during the campaign, was to eliminate state border limits for health insurance companies, so that people in the most expensive states could buy in less expensive states. Which, IMO, was deluded. It's not about where insurance is purchased, but where the person lives.

They seem to be working on repealing and replacing it. But some Republicans are not convinced.

Incredible.

Roussette · 13/01/2017 16:53

I know Ungoogle!

"I voted for you but you really need to stop tweeting things that sound like a teenage girl who can't control her mouth" was one of them!

The thing is... his tweets have a massive effect on all sorts of things. Share prices particularly, traders on Wall St are playing the game with stocks as a result of what he says. When he criticises companies, stocks fall, which in turn affects stockholders. Not that he cares.

Let alone when he babbles on about N Korea or China. S Korea have appointed a twitter watcher to do just that. It's like a stream of conscious thought and as his supporters said above, just like a teenager. He must love the wide audience he reaches and doesn't care about the effect.

Interesting on Paul Ryan. Could it just be that he couldn't afford to run the campaign that would be needed to run as candidate?

Worth watching halfway down Paul Ryan put on the spot re ObamaCare. I almost felt sorry for him!

Roussette · 13/01/2017 17:08

This is well worth watching too. From 3 minutes on.

A President doesn't have to be impeached for the House to ask him to stand down and this explains it in a very amusing way! It's all written in to the Constitution ever since Kennedy, Eisenhower and others. Perhaps the GOP have this in mind?!
