Husband refusing to sit in economy class

We are desperate for some winter sun. But DH (who doesn't care about winter sun) has imposed some conditions: He will only fly for up to 3 hours in an economy seat because he says any longer will damage his knees. He is 6 foot 3.5 with very long legs. Trouble is, you can't really get any winter sun within 3 hours. I can't help thinking he's being a bit precious. In the end we've shelled out an extra £1k for him to fly business class while we go cattle class, which basically means I am paying for his flight. I have long legs too... We have to go on a cheaper holiday as a result. Slightly struggling with my attitude...

Husband refusing to sit in economy class

It's certainly doable to drive from Aqaba to Petra, so definitely try to do that! The driving in Jordan outside of Amman is ok and there are so few main roads, you can use a basic map, don't need a gps. It can get pretty chilly in winter though. I hope you have a good time!

Do think your husband is behaving like an arse though. But I guess that's one of the reasons you are having a bonding holiday.

Arahia and they didn't mention he has bad knees. Humph. And no, before any other journalists ask I'm not available for comment!

Well my other half won't even go on holiday. Doesn't see the need. I might one day persuade him. But not on a plane. He always tells people that he went on a plane once and unfortunately had to get on another one to get home.
It's very annoying. 😡😂

Notmuchtosay1 suddenly I feel grateful. I am in two minds about travel. On the one hand I feel its so important to broaden the mind and challenge one's prejudices, relax, bond as a family, see beautiful places, have fun, and on the other hand it's not good for the environment. I try not to travel too much but I think at least once a year is good for the soul. There's always the Orient Express? ;)

Ooooo so now Mumsnet went to bed with the Sun?

SmellySphinx · 11/01/2017 13:00

Stick him in a pantomime cow suit and he can travel in the hold

Chop his legs off

Go without him

Lay him down in the aisle

Tell him he's used up his beer/wine dosh and he can't drink whilst away!

Notmuchtosay1 · 11/01/2017 13:20

Waterfall I don't understand him really. He has no desire to travel, see new places or go anywhere at all. I love travel programmes and seeing the world on tv. I ask if he'd like to visit any of the great places we see and he says "no"
Even a holiday in the uk would be great. But he's not bothered. I took the kids without him last year. Only in the uk. But at least we went. He didn't care. He'd rather play with his cattle and look after the dogs. 😂
Enjoy your winter sun.

My partners mother and sister r friends with a girl on face book that my partner cheated on me with years ago, me and him now have a child would any one else find this a problem or is just me being a dick

riceuten · 11/01/2017 15:17

Whilst I understand all the background to this, your OH sounds incredibly entitled, and now he has done this, will indubitably ensure you shell out for his extra legroom seat, canapes and champagne whilst you deal with the noise of tantrums in the future. I do rather wish you'd called his bluff on this one.

Michellelovesizzy · 11/01/2017 15:18

Sorry I have totally posted in the wrong place and sorry to the op i am new meant to make a new convo not just talk over this 1

emmyrose2000 · 12/01/2017 04:08

Husband is being selfish. That money could've been spent on extra/better accommodation or activities that ALL the family could've enjoyed, not just one member for a few hours.

mumto2two · 12/01/2017 12:43

What an entitled ass! My DH is 6ft 3...and he regularly flies long distances. Most corporate companies aren't even splashing cash on business class these days. We've also flown long distances as a family many times, and have been to oz on numerous occasions..in economy with the kids! Sorry but I think you are a pushover to accept that kind of behaviour.

waterfallrainbow · 12/01/2017 13:25

I think the thing that bothers me most about it is that we have paid £1k for a foot or so of space. Such a waste of money!

oh dear, all the recent posters continuing to ignore the fact that the OP's husband has bad knees, the pain is not for a few hours!
