AIBU to be so fed up and confused on pyjama issue

AIBU to be serverly annoyed with all the judgements on pyjama wearers?

Can someone explain to me what the big deal over wearing pyjamas is? I don't understand. I shower daily, I wash my clothes if they are used/unclean. When I get up I get dressed go about my day, come home and shower and put pyjama pants on until I get into bed. I take them off before bed as I only sleep in my underwear. If I don't have anything to do in the day I'll wake up and put the pyjama pants on because they are comfortable and warm. If I then realise I have to go out and make a run to the store I'll just go like this as I usually have my children (4m and 2y) with me and if not I'm trying to do the shop as fast as I can to get back to them as my DH is not the best with small children and often gets flustered. I am not choosing to wear them out of laziness, I choose to wear them out of comfort. They are clean, I am clean. Nothing inappropriate is exposed. So I don't understand how it is hurting anybody. I don't think it's fair to sit and judge people who chose to wear pyjamas and be comfortable and I don't understand why people are so offended by this?
I'm sure there are a few people that do wear them because they are lazy and slobbish but I don't think it's fair to judge all people that wear them this way.

@boogers I don't feel people judge me when I go out, but maybe that's just where I am. I just don't think it's fair to say such harsh things about people we don't know.

@lass no AGAIN I have been given judgements.

They aren't just comfy cotton trousers though. They're pajamas. The other ones are jogging bottoms etc. Whole different word. Whole different purpose. They're for bed. You're wearing them in the street like someone escaped from a hospital. Hmm. As others have said, nobody but you knows you have just rolled out of bed in them since, that's what they're for. It looks weird and lazy and like you haven't washed.
Mind you, people wear jeans to Last Night of the Proms, so if that's what counts as dressing up to go to the Albert Hall, then maybe pajamas are smart enough for street wear...

FizzBombBathTime · 08/01/2017 21:32

Boogers her situation with her husband is irrelevant to the wearing pjs out of the house situation. So I will respectfully disagree. AS has is not an explanation to why her husband situation is relevant at all. Confused

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 08/01/2017 21:32

@verybitchg I did not try to backtrack. I was talking about two separate situations which many others read and understood.
And yes but you had to continue talking about it. Unkind. Especially if you "feel sad for me"

I feel very sad for abuse victims, yes. I hope you find the support you need.

Imma gonna leave this thread now. Chatting about a total non issue like PJ wearing in public after reading the other thread is barking.

Good luck.

FizzBombBathTime · 08/01/2017 21:33

You're wearing them in the street like someone escaped from a hospital

Confused
Boogers · 08/01/2017 21:34

OP wear what you like. Wear nothing but nipple tassels on the school run. You have standards, I have standards. They obviously differ.

Would you attend your DC's parents evenings wearing pyjamas?

mambono5 · 08/01/2017 21:36

You're wearing them in the street like someone escaped from a hospital

Please don't give these people ideas, next thing you know it will be fashionable to wear a hospital gown to go food shopping "because fresh air on your butt is good for you".

mummyof2pr · 08/01/2017 21:37

@boogers that's an entirely different scenario. I get the point you are trying to make but a quick run to the shop isn't the same as a parents evening.

You can't control people's thoughts or opinions

If you want to wear PJs in public then people will judge you, rightly or wrongly

If you don't care what people think then crack on

If you do care what people think then put some leggings or yoga pants on

What is so hard to understand about the above?

MammaTJ · 08/01/2017 21:39

I really could not care less what other people wear when out and about. It is not my business and I have other, very real concerns to worry about. I cannot bring myself to care about this shit. I do not have the energy to care about this shit.

I care about my children and their education, whether they are happy and sociable, I care about my granddaughter and whether she gets her vaccinations, I care about paying my bills on time and not being evicted from my home. I care about Syrian refugees, I care about my partner and his happiness. I care about bees, because we need them to continue to grow plants that we rely on to feed us. I care about many more things than this...

I DO NOT CARE about people wearing pyjamas!

EmeraldScorn · 08/01/2017 21:39

It's something that I despise. The amount of fleas that I see on a daily basis out in public wearing their PJs - It would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic.

I have no issue with anyone wearing PJs in the privacy of their own home, I often change into loungewear once I have arrived home but I wouldn't entertain or go out in my loungewear.

It takes all of a few seconds to throw on a pair of jeans, no one is saying you need to go out "made up" on every occasion that you cross the door but in the very least I expect people to be dressed in proper outdoor clothing whilst in public places.

It looks awful seeing people in PJs and I know it's judgemental but I just feel that it's laziness and a lack of self respect.

Boogers · 08/01/2017 21:39

Fizz it suggests an picture, one which I still feel has undercurrents to the overall picture, but as has been pointed out it's bad form to bring up past threads so I'm sorry for that.

I'm still wondering if I'm ok to nip to the Co-op in my nightie though.

Cantusethatname · 08/01/2017 21:40

I'm just looking at a photo of my grandma, shopping in the 1960s. Her hair is done, she has earrings, make up, a little jacket and court shoes.
She would be turning in her grave at this thread!

Boogers · 08/01/2017 21:40

mummy how is a parents' evening different to a school run?

FizzBombBathTime · 08/01/2017 21:42

Boogers I wouldn't judge you! Your nightie sounds very nice.

mummyof2pr · 08/01/2017 21:42

@boogers some parents don't start work until after dropping their kids off and don't have time while getting kids ready to get themselves ready as well. Again every situation is different. I'm just trying to be understanding of those situations.

So would mine. Doesn't stop me thinking differently though

gobbynorthernbird · 08/01/2017 21:44

Haven't RTFT but why haven't you bought underwear and clothes that fit, OP? Are you very poor? Or not owning up to how fat you are?

ShesAStar · 08/01/2017 21:44

OP didn't say she wore pyjamas for meetings or to dine out, she said she ran out of nappies so nipped to her local shop. OP when you have two young DC you can do whatever you like that gets you all through the day! Take no notice of the people on this thread, they're irrelevant to your life. I cannot believe people are saying a whole area can be brought down by someone nipping to the shop in their pyjamas - only on MN! Grin.

Cantusethatname · 08/01/2017 21:45

No, I'm more like mine than I care to admit and although I don't wear court shoes, hell would freeze over before I went anywhere in my pyjamas.

mummyof2pr · 08/01/2017 21:45

@gobby you should have read. All been addressed. I am slim and have clothes that fit. Just prefer warm comfy sweatshirts and pyjama bottoms!

OP posts:
mambono5 · 08/01/2017 21:46

HOW can you not have time to get dressed nowadays? HOW can you not find the 60 seconds necessary to put some fresh clothes on? It does not make sense. Does it mean you they couldn't even find the time to wash and brush their teeth? It sounds disgusting.

Again, rushing to hospital with a sick child is a totally different scenario.

FizzBombBathTime · 08/01/2017 21:47

gobby did you mean to be so fucking nasty?

Is it a full moon or something tonight? Hmm

mummyof2pr · 08/01/2017 21:47

@mambo you don't know everyone's life and situation. not everyone dresses in pyjamas because of lack of time. It is a choice. And we get you don't agree. Your comments are no longer necessary. You've made your points.
