To want a 7 seater car that actually has a decent boot?!

Trying to find a 7 seater car that has a good sized boot with all seats in use.
Why do most of them have the tiniest boot?

Can anyone recommend one that is be able to fit a pram in?

The minibus idea probably isn't that bad!

If you decide on a minibus, please check out how much the insurance will be before you buy it. We bought a 9-seater minibus and I had such trouble finding an insurer that would insure me with a minibus for private use, and when I did the price was astronomical.

Toyota Previa xx

WaitrosePigeon · 08/01/2017 13:38

I notice someone has recommended a Discovery sport. We have a discovery sport and it's a great car but the boot is tiny when the extra seats are in use sorry!

Fuck, yes. Of course. Sorry OP Blush

We have an alhambra, but we have 5 DC so have to use the 7 seats all the time. With 4 DC you're more flexible as you can have one rear seat up and use the other half of the boot. That's what we planned on doing until we found out DC4 was twins!

VW long or short wheel base van. buy one second hand and get a good fitter to put 3 seats with seat belts in the back. Loads of room, easy to drive and you could convert so that it also has windows in the back and a small kitchen!!

beautifullight · 08/01/2017 13:42

We have a chrysler grand voyager, it's great for space.

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 08/01/2017 13:44

I have a Toyota verso and can get my armadillo flip in the boot with all 7 seats up

mummymeister · 08/01/2017 13:46

Moonface - if you buy a long wheel base van and "convert" it into a camper van i.e. you put in a sink, cooker top and can put in a table then insurance is no problem neither are speeds on the roads (vans are restricted campers are not)

you can pick up a cheap "white van" and get a conversion with 3 back seats and 3 front seats plus bags of room. We have one and insurance is really reasonable. plus when we all go out together ( large family ) we also have somewhere to sit and have a cup of tea or picnic in.

we got our van cheap - ex decorators van - spent £1500 on the conversion and its been great.

We had an Smax with 4DC and it was shit with newborn and/or toddler car seats - you cannot get to the rear seats. Then the kids got bigger and it was shit because the rear seat were not big enough for them And the boot was tiny.
Now we have an 8 seater Custom Tourneo and it's brilliant and only 20cm longer than an Smax.

Minniemagoo · 08/01/2017 13:49

Ssanguong Rodius, fit a double buggy and shopping in boot. Its set up as 2 captain sets in middle row, they are individual seats with armrests, good size gap between to access rear and they swivel so you can have them rear facing . 3 seats accross the back, full size. Fab space, great drive, ugly as f#ck from outside but would highly recommend.

Owllady · 08/01/2017 13:52

You need a minibus if you need a proper boot, sorry
Or leave one seat out of a 7 seater

WappersReturns · 08/01/2017 13:52

We've got an XC90 and it's great, it has a decent sized boot although none of my lot are in a pram anymore so haven't tried that. It does fit a sheep in there though Grin

You can fold individual seats in different combinations so that makes the most of the space. It's a bit of a tank but a nice comfortable drive. Wish we hadn't stuck it out so long with the old defender!

perfectlybroken · 08/01/2017 13:59

Toyota Previa, brilliant car all round. Fairly good boot space with all 7/8 seats, and seats clip in and out easily so very flexible

HeCantBeSerious · 08/01/2017 14:01

My dad had the same issue 30 years ago. No idea why Peugeot stopped making the 505 estate - it was brilliant.

HeCantBeSerious · 08/01/2017 14:03

3 full rows of seats and a full boot.

HeCantBeSerious · 08/01/2017 14:04

Now it's people or luggage rather than both.

To want a 7 seater car that actually has a decent boot?!
GohomeRoger · 08/01/2017 14:09

If you'd settle for 6 seats the Honda FRV is great, fits a bugaboo donkey in the boot easily. You'd have to get a second hand one though as they've stopped making them.

gubbygubby · 08/01/2017 14:09

We have the Hyundai i800. It is fabulous.
The back row has as much leg room as the middle tow and massive massive boot. It is a small minibus though. We drive to Europe with all our csmoing stuff in it and 4 kids.
Big Cool box fits between the front 2 seats too

gubbygubby · 08/01/2017 14:10

bumbleymummy · 08/01/2017 14:13

Xc90 has a decent sized boot - even with all 7 seats in use. Better when you can put one side down at the back. The newer models (2015- ) aren't too bad mpg wise either.

fourandnomore · 08/01/2017 14:19

Renault Grand Scenic still has an OK boot with the seats in use. We had to buy something else as our eldest's legs were getting too long to fit in the boot seat already and the double pram etc was just annoying but we could manage it. We now have a Hyundai i800 which is brilliant. Minivan type thing but feels like a car and really easy to drive, 8 seats, can walk through from front seat to sit between baby twins if they get restless/need feeding whatever, I love it. Big though for parking etc but never had too much trouble.

fourandnomore · 08/01/2017 14:20

Gubbygubby sorry missed yours, I absolutely love ours too. Can't wait to take our first non U.K. road trip Smile

bostonkremekrazy · 08/01/2017 14:23

we have the grand c4 picasso - more car like.....with 7 seats up you can get a stroller in the boot - we can fit a double in the boot - the city mini jogger, but no shopping, that has to go under toddler legs!

Samatamfabahaba · 08/01/2017 14:24

Our Audi Q7 is vast. Even with the seats up in the back.

Artandco · 08/01/2017 14:27

The Tesla X. Should be in the uk soon. 7 decent seats. Good boot. Plus as it's electric you get a boot storage space at the front also as no engine needed
