AIBU to not get bath bombs?

I was given 2 bath bombs for Christmas. Was v excited to use one, watched it fizz and it did smell nice. But then there were loads of coloured bits floating in the bath. And sparkles. And I was covered in coloured bits and sparkles. Once I'd run the bath out, there was so much scum around it, and I had to scrub the whole bath to remove the residue. And I've still got fecking sparkles on me!! AIBU or am I missing something?

Er, no, you cut the bomb into quarters or eighths or whatever with a sharp knive and use what you want.

Oh, OK. I'd assumed they would just crumble and make a mess of bath bomb fragments if you tried to cut one up.

Even having to cut it up with a knife would probably annoy me, though. Going to the kitchen, getting out a knife and having to chop up a bath bomb before I can use it doesn't really fit with my notion that baths should be simple, relaxing and luxurious.

Each to their own, obviously. I'm not judging anyone else that likes bath bombs and/or gets 6 baths out of them.

dolly
My DD gets her dad to cut them up, then they go in her special bathbomb box (don't ask!). The Lush ones are good for cutting, other ones not so much.
Everyone's happy (except the person who cleans the bath....) :)

Good when staying in hotels Grin

When we had a bath, I was always disappointed by bath bombs. I would take bubbles from bubble bath over coloured, fragranced water from bath bombs anytime.

Unfortunately we just have a shower now so no more bubbly baths for me...

Mrsglitterfairy · 08/01/2017 19:16

I love a bath bomb! I got some beautiful pink glittery ones from lush along with glittery shower gel and it makes me so happy to get out of the bath covered in sparkles. But I am probably in the minority and as the name suggests, I love anything and everything glittery/sparkly, I'm like a magpie Star

Yanbu. You mean people go into lush! My one attempt had me passing out...not sure if from the smell or the price.

londonrach · 08/01/2017 19:28

Anyone remember this..never understood them!!

AIBU to not get bath bombs?
AuntieStella · 08/01/2017 19:32

Yes, I remember them - rather oily but smelt nice (which I think was the point)

I miss bath cubes (which after all are just bath bombs under their 1970s name)

TheCatsMother99 · 08/01/2017 19:33

I was talking about those bath balls the other day, londonrach, I miss them!

girlandboy · 08/01/2017 19:36

I've not had a Lush bath bomb for ages, but DD and I once tried to cut one up. It was pretty much impossible, it was so hard. We ended up trying every knife in the kitchen and ended up sawing away at it with a cleaver. And even then it didn't get reduced into even sized pieces. There was a selection of small chunks, bigger chunks and a pile of powder. Don't try it!

And anyway, if it's a Lush Dragon's Egg they're not meant to be halved etc. The whole point of it is the changing colours as it gets smaller finally finishing with a burst of glitter from the middle. That would be ruined by chopping it up!

Bubble bars are the ones you get multiple baths out of because you can just break a bit off. Bath bombs are single use only.

AuntieStella · 08/01/2017 19:37

They're not called bath balls, they're bath pearls.

And still available (eg Superdrug or Wilkos)

londonrach · 08/01/2017 19:37

Bath cubes. My gran had them. If we were lucky she allow us to have them. Those were the days!!

PrancerForHoney · 08/01/2017 20:00

I used to smash my bombs in half with a hammer inside a bag. Now I just make my own bath melts.

Mrsglitterfairy · 08/01/2017 20:07

Oh wow, I used to love bath pearls. I haven't had the dragon egg but have just told DH that I need one for my birthday.

TheCatsMother99 · 08/01/2017 20:34

Oh right, I never knew that Auntie, I was a child when my mum and I used to pick them out like pick n mix and she used to call them bath balls.

Off to buy some from superdrug......Grin
