AIBU to not get bath bombs?

PrincessWatermelon · 07/01/2017 22:48

I was given 2 bath bombs for Christmas. Was v excited to use one, watched it fizz and it did smell nice. But then there were loads of coloured bits floating in the bath. And sparkles. And I was covered in coloured bits and sparkles. Once I'd run the bath out, there was so much scum around it, and I had to scrub the whole bath to remove the residue. And I've still got fecking sparkles on me!! AIBU or am I missing something?

DH bought me one this year which looks like a lollipop with a cinnamon stick as the stick. I haven't the heart to tell him I'm not really up for a mulled wine bath.

nikiforov · 07/01/2017 23:27

You're all a bit grumpy, huh? It's a bit of fun. You don't have to use them if you don't want to, but I personally love sitting back and relaxing in bright blue sparkly water that makes me smell edible :D

My bath bombs last for months. Most of the stuff I have from Lush is pretty old but it lasts for years. The only things that go off quickly are the face masks.

MyWineTime · 07/01/2017 23:29

I like them, but not glittery ones.
There are some that can be used a few times. I get it out and put it in a soapdish until next time.
A quick rinse with the shower is all that's needed afterwards.

happynewyearchum · 07/01/2017 23:30

Edwin

That's a bubble bar not a bath bomb.

GimmeeMoore · 07/01/2017 23:32

Never used one, cannot abide The carbolic fug that emits from lush

LockedOutOfMN · 07/01/2017 23:32

We cut a bit off of one and drop it down the loo when someone's had the runs as it makes the bathroom smell nice again. Wouldn't get it in touch with my skin (too itchy) or put it in the bath (hassle to clean afterwards). I prefer showers, anyway.

GimmeeMoore · 07/01/2017 23:35

Well that's novel use

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 07/01/2017 23:36

Do you know what the one is that turns the water blue & sparkly, that sounds nice.

gillybeanz · 07/01/2017 23:37

The tweens and teens tend to like them, my dd and friends love lush. They all got them and gave them for xmas pressies.
I think the only customers Lush have are our kids.

grumpysquash3 · 07/01/2017 23:39

So you have to fish out the soggy, part-dissolved bath bomb from the water before it disappears, then find somewhere to keep it while it dries out? And then have a damp, crumbly thing sitting somewhere in the bathroom gathering dust and germs until your next bath?

Er, no, you cut the bomb into quarters or eighths or whatever with a sharp knive and use what you want. The rest stays dry.

Fabellini · 07/01/2017 23:39

Ds1 loves a bath bomb - he's 19 with asd and learning difficulties.....he will happily stay in the bath for an hour or so and then leaves a trail of glitter all over the house, and is quite sparkly himself for a good few hours Grin

grumpysquash3 · 07/01/2017 23:40

Knife, that is, not knive [duh]

UnexplainedOnHerCollar · 07/01/2017 23:40

I kind of like lush tisty tosty (or something) rose ones – though they are not worth several quid for one bath, I've been known to get one occasionally. They do smell nice. But then they dump soggy withered rose buds in your bath and I always freak out (having forgotten what would happen in my blissful relaxed state, minus my specs) because I think I've seen a big fat dead spider floating towards me.

Glitter ones definitely not! Glitter up your orifices must be grim.

BringMeTea · 07/01/2017 23:40

Feel mingey twinges just thinking about them. And not in a good way.

MollyHuaCha · 07/01/2017 23:40

Did they come with a lovely glittery, tinselly tube of Canestan?

This made me giggle GrinGrin

edwinbear · 07/01/2017 23:41

happynewyearchum what's a bubble bar? How does that work?

LotsOfShoes · 07/01/2017 23:41

I was very dissapponted when I bought my first bath bomb and then realized it doesn't go bubbly, it just fizzes and colours the water. Also, what I don't understand is how am I supposed to wash my hair? I mean, the water is all purple and oily, surely I can't wash my hair with it? Or am I not meant to? Are we supposed to just sit in it for a while and that's it? Seems a bit pointless...

bumsexatthebingo · 07/01/2017 23:42

Agree the cocoa butter Lush one is nice if you have dry skin. Other than that I'm not fussed. The kids love them though (easily pleased by the fizzing). Tried cheaper ones from Wilko but ds said they stung?? Don't enjoy cleaning the glitter, sand, rose petals and other shite they put in them out of the bath though.

Fabellini · 07/01/2017 23:44

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN that would be the "galactic" bath bomb from Lush. It's ds1s favourite. It leaves a shitload of glitter in the bath afterwards....have you seen the video on facebook of the black cat rolling around in the (empty) bath and ending up all sparkly? I'm willing to bet that it's owner had a galactic bomb Grin

happynewyearchum · 07/01/2017 23:44

You run it under the tap and it makes bubbles Smile

Crumbs1 · 07/01/2017 23:44

I can't even, walk into Lushnthe scents are so toxic and strong. One of the girls went through a period of frequent urinary tract infection which paediatrician put down to little girls buying each other bath bombs for birthdays. Too harsh for little girls bits and pieces. Make a dreadful mess of the bathroom and silly prices for tat.

Notcontent · 07/01/2017 23:44

I hate bath bombs. I also hate Lush - there is something about it that really irritates me. My dd loves the bath bombs - but then again she is 10.... I was in there just before Christmas to buy some for her and the place was heaving with men buying stuff for (presumably) their wives or girlfriends - I felt like shouting NOOO!!

OpalTree · 07/01/2017 23:45

A bubble bar makes bubbles like bubble bath. You break a bit off and put it under the tap

edwinbear · 07/01/2017 23:45

This reminds what I did get for the dc this year though which was pretty fab - crackle baff, made by the same people that make that awful gelli baff, but this is basically popping candy that you sprinkle it the bath. We had lots of fun with that and it just dissolves and drains away.
