AIBU to not get bath bombs?

PrincessWatermelon · 07/01/2017 22:48

I was given 2 bath bombs for Christmas. Was v excited to use one, watched it fizz and it did smell nice. But then there were loads of coloured bits floating in the bath. And sparkles. And I was covered in coloured bits and sparkles. Once I'd run the bath out, there was so much scum around it, and I had to scrub the whole bath to remove the residue. And I've still got fecking sparkles on me!! AIBU or am I missing something?

What's the cocoa butter Lush one that makes your skin go soft?

OpalTree · 07/01/2017 23:49

Just looked it up and i assume it's the butterball. Might try that

happynewyearchum · 07/01/2017 23:50

Edwin

Is it the star one? I really wanted to try that! I have just used up my pink one - I like the stick ones because they you don't have to get wet hands though lots of people use sieves which is clever.

happynewyearchum · 07/01/2017 23:51

A lot of them make your skin go soft. The butterbear is the little one with cocoa butter.

Grindelwaldswand · 07/01/2017 23:52

I prefer to use bath salts with drops of essential oils in the water.
Bath bombs are dirty pointless and full of chemicals

happynewyearchum · 07/01/2017 23:54

If you're looking for stuff for little ones then 'fun' is good for kids and adults.

AthenasOwl · 07/01/2017 23:54

Not a huge bath bomb fan although I adore lush..I'd much rather have a bubble bar or bath melt :)

Hohumming · 08/01/2017 00:02

was told in Lush that you can get 4-6 baths from one

But why would someone want one bath from it, let alone four or six. I don't get what they are supposed to do. Do they moisturise? cleanse?

They absolutely baffle me but I always thought that was because I don't know what they are actually supposed to be for.

I threw them out after using one that just made a mess.

edwinbear · 08/01/2017 00:04

happynewyearchum yes, it's a gold star with a little bell. I'm so pleased you told me otherwise I'd have dumped the entire thing in the bath and missed the entire point of it. I've just watched a YouTube video of it and all excited about having a go now, so thank you! Flowers

Stopyourhavering · 08/01/2017 00:08

The lush bath bombs are mainly essential oils and bicarbonate of soda I think.....dd has a part time job there and loves the place!.... her flat mate loves all the free samples she comes home with too!!

Yamadori · 08/01/2017 00:09

Don't really like bath bombs TBH.

I never really liked sitting on the crunchy undissolved lumps of the old-style bath cubes DM used to chuck in when I was a kid either.

OpalTree · 08/01/2017 00:10

Hohum. They vary but ones I've liked have moisturised my skin and made it smell nice and I've liked the smell when I was on the bath too. Of course if it's not your cup of tea don't use one.

Earlgreywithmilk · 08/01/2017 00:14

Now I'm worried - I gave some lovely smelling lush bathbombs as gifts for Xmas but I've never used them myself so didn't realise the fallout from using them!
I would hate me if they mucked up the bath like you're all saying haha

happynewyearchum · 08/01/2017 00:16

Ah you're welcome Edwin I hope you enjoy it!

FeelingSmurfy · 08/01/2017 00:16

dolly no you break some off and use that, leaving the rest dry

I have never used one but my sisters like them, parents hated them though because of the mess left, they had to clean it after themselves but never did a proper job. I'm not sure if they still use them

tierny · 08/01/2017 00:17

A Bath Bomb is for one single use - the whole thing.

A Bubble Bar or Bath melt like the Lush Comforter you break a chunk off of and use That chunk in a bath, and you get 5 or 6 chunks out of one bar.

FeelingSmurfy · 08/01/2017 00:19

Sorry dolly I refreshed but my tablet must have been protesting because yours was still the last post I had Blush

cocopopsrock · 08/01/2017 00:20

I hate them but my kids love them. Yanbu

justinelibertine · 08/01/2017 00:27

My brother thinks I like them so I get them for xmas every year.
I always have showers and hate mess. He knows this. FFS.
Glad DD is old enough to appreciate a blue glittery bath now so I don't have a bloody display of them in my bathroom.

spooniestudent · 08/01/2017 00:54

I used to, but was told in Lush that you can get 4-6 baths from one, so would last me over a year

Read this wrong and thought you were saying you had 4-6 baths a year Hmm
it may be time for bed

OpalTree · 08/01/2017 01:24

I'm still reading it like that. Maybe pp mainly has showers?

donajimena · 08/01/2017 06:31

Yes its a butterball. From lush. I might get some actually. I'm a bit dry. I remember being given a bath bom with dried rose petals once. It was like sitting in cereal.

BabySnores · 08/01/2017 08:31

I love the look and smell of some but can't use them in the bath. I get terrible thrush if I do.

PrincessWatermelon · 08/01/2017 09:40

Thank you for the reassurance that I'm not missing out on something, or doing it wrong. My DD is prone to thrush and UTI so don't think I'll even treat her to the last one - it is pink and sparkly, so she'd love it, but not worth the risk from what you've said.

PurpleMcPants · 08/01/2017 09:49

I love them, don't mind ending up glittery and cleaning the bath. I use them pretty much every time I have a bath and have never had any adverse reactions in the nether regions.
