To push super market trolley home

I was thinking about going shopping and then pushing the supermarket trolley back to my house. It would be easyer than over loading the pram. But thenot now I have written it it seems it feels I am bu. I am aren't I?

You might not be able to. At our local supermarket theres something in the pavement that makes the trolley wheels lock past a certain point.

Do it, I've seen people do it by my local Sainsburys , I assume they take it back next time they go to the shop.

Can't see a problem myself.

Most of them lock a certain distance from the actual store so you wouldn't get very far afraid.

I know people who do this and as long as they return it straight away, instead of it hanging around the street, I don't really see a problem.

Mind you, the supermarket owners probably do because of the wear and tear on the wheels.

A lot of trolleys now have a thing on their wheels which stops them moving when a certain distance away from the shop. Plus are you then gonna push it all the way back to the shop? And then walk home again?

It's stealing. You might get challenged on the way out. Everyone who saw you walking home would know you were stealing. I wouldn't have the gall.

Actually there's a massive housing estate behind my local supermarket.

The local kids hang around the entrance to the lifts and offer to take the trolleys back, if they can keep the pound coin

Just don't wear your pyjamas while you do it,make sure you hide the bottles of prosecco at the bottom so no one spots them, and no diverting into Greggs to pick up the kids packed lunch pies for the week.....

They just need bumping over the little ramps at the exits that's all. They don't have a magic lick that activates as soon as you leave the car park

As long as you return it I can't see a problem.

The man who owned a Chinese restaurant where we used to live did this every day.

Used to be if you asked nicely, they'd take your cash card or similar as security and give it back when you brought the trolley back. Don't know if you still can now they put those radio brakes in, but those only stop the wheels for a few yards and then give up (was parked in far corner of car park, not stealing a trolley!)

I would just do an online shop. And yes most lock now when you leave the premises

Where are you hoping to shop? Ocado we pay £1.99 a month for unlimited deliveries, but you can also get free deliveries if your happy with super early or late slots

viq but I have to do them things it's in the terms and conditions of pushing the trolley home.

I recon lidl trolleys might lock though

Have it delivered or get the kids dad to help, taking the trolley is wrong. That's not what they are meant for.

Why don't people have shopping trolleys any more? I used to love going shopping with my mum as a child and pulling the trolley home.

I used to do this. When my house backed onto the supermarket car park. So would take all the shopping indoors and then quickly nip back and put trolley in a proper bay. I think if you live nearby but need to get a big shop, it is an environmentally friendlier way to shop compared to driving round in the car.

How far from supermarket to home?

I take my comment back!!!! I had never heard of the new trolleys.. They obviously haven't reached deepest darkest Devon yet!! We font usually have to put a coin in them here either, although lidl provides plastic tokens for free which completely defeats the object anyway.

I want one SoupDragon I'm sick of walking home with blue fingers and a locked elbow from carrying heavy bags. DD has said she would disown me if I get one though.

Actually, fair play to you ghost if you can manage to push a trolley full of groceries home.

I can't even push one round the supermarket without ramming into shelves, and veering off to one side

I'd probably end up in the middle of a busy road

It's theft. People don't return them and stores have to go to great lengths to prevent trolleys and baskets being stolen.

Do what everyone else does. Load the pram. Get a rucksack. A taxi. The bus. A wheely shopper thing.
