To think This Morning was wrong to shame this woman?

Sorry, but what business does he have to decide what someone spends their benefits on? So what if she bought a bottle of Prosecco?

He says he doesn't care about the Prosecco but it's so obvious that he does. This is a man worth £2million sitting in his ivory tower and shaming a woman for buying a £4.99 bottle of Prosecco.

Is this what this country has become? A country where we deny people any pleasure or fun because they are on benefits?

conserveisposhforjam- she wasn't a teacher - if you read her various media pieces she goes from teacher to deputy head; actually she was a TA. She is a fantasist.

She might well be. But my point is that the comments about her appearance are really unpleasant, unnecessary and misogynistic.

Celaena · 07/01/2017 21:34

She's a goady fucker and going on TV a week after Christmas when people on are the bare bones of their arses saying you've spent £3k on gadgets and dogs yet you don't go to work is going to put people's backs up.

I totally agree with this -

amispartacus · 07/01/2017 21:44

Her professional bio

debs4london.com/aboutdeborahhodge/professional-biography/

Apparently she was under threat of eviction. I would have thought that you would be careful with your money if you were in that situation rather than spending £2500 on presents using credit cards and loans.

And then going on TV about it.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 07/01/2017 22:38

I saw that interview and thought they were very restrained actually.

The prosecco comment came from she had apparently thanked the taxpayers for her bumper Christmas and when Philip asked her why she wrote it she said "I had drank a glass of prosecco before I wrote it" Hmm

Yeah and there's no way she bought all of that on £2000. I'm on benefits and my DCs got no where near even half of what her DCs got.
She seemed very out of her depth. In one breathe she was talking about how she was waiting on a job to open up with a convenient plug about her books halfway through and then started talking about how she's in the process of getting dla for her child with needs and getting quite defensive when Philip asked her why with the 'because I'm entitled to it' Confused well yes love, you, well your DC is entitled to it but you can't put yourself out there and then expect everyone to kiss your arse. There's billions of people in this world. They're not always going to agree with or support you.

I think sticking your head out above the parapet re benefits nowadays is asking for trouble from the public, and guaranteed to have the dwp having a field day with you. Once they've finished harassing all the genuine sick and disabled etc because 'cuts'... Sad

I'm a bit cynical though and wondering if she's treating the story as collateral damage for getting her book/image out there.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 07/01/2017 22:41

amispartacus I thought that too about the threat of eviction. My DCs haven't had parties the last few years because I've favoured paying the rent every time. Wanting my DCs to have a roof over their head and all that.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 07/01/2017 22:46

Nobody has shamed her. You're invited on to these shows. Invitations always come with the premise that you can say "No" should you wish to. If you choose to go on it. You have to expect some level of criticism is going to be fielded at you.

amispartacus · 07/01/2017 22:51

She said she was being head hunted. Personally, I would not want someone who is such a publicity seeker working for me. I would worry about their thought processes and their attitude. Unfortunately, your life history is available online for all to see forever.

MsJamieFraser · 07/01/2017 22:52

Yabu!

AwaywiththePixies27 · 07/01/2017 23:58

We were contacted by journos a few months back. I won't say what as don't want to out myself. Sorry it's nothing interesting like being an undercover mail spy Grin

I had an interview with them. They were in the middle of writing their article when I had to ring and retract it. Basically the ex didn't want the children to be put under inevitable scrutiny. So I didn't. Their his children too and he has a say.

What I couldn't fathom was her saying how much bullying one of her kids had had to n suffer. Surely this will now make him n more of a target.

WorraLiberty · 08/01/2017 00:39

She couldn't give a shiny shit about her kids.

It's fame fame fame with this one.

I bet she's desperate to get into the Big Brother house too.

NightTerrier · 08/01/2017 01:13

The thing is that they always have the biggest wankers they can find when they do these benefit stories. People like to feel a bit of moral outrage every so often. It just wouldn't be as entertaining if they had a single mum who said her electricity got cut off over Xmas and her and her kids went without.

She didn't exactly come across as being likeable, but buying a couple of bottles of wine is neither here nor there.

amispartacus · 08/01/2017 08:44

What I couldn't fathom was her saying how much bullying one of her kids had had to n suffer

A pertinant question from the presenters would have been to ask if she thought that appearing on This Morning would affect her children and any bullying they get?

AwaywiththePixies27 · 08/01/2017 08:46

amispartacus they did ask her that.

FrogletinaBallerina · 08/01/2017 09:17

From one linked article previous she says she won't ever drink prosecco again after falling pregnant after her ONS, but is on TM thanking the taxpayer for the benefits tenner which she bought prosecco ?! And the lies about her job role in a school. I think she's a bit away with the fairies.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 08/01/2017 09:26

Frogletina she blamed the prosecco for what she wrote, where did she get her prosecco for a tenner, I got some on offer once for £3.77 and still didn't tweet any goadyfuckery as she did Wink

Roussette · 08/01/2017 09:28

On one of her blogs she says Rod Hull (who died about 20 yrs ago) assaulted her or perhaps it was Emu! , apparently the authorities aren't taking the matter further.

To me, she is one of those self publicising women who I can't take seriously (I'm being polite here, she is very irritating), she is all over the internet. She seems obsessed with Richard Branson who won't give her a job. Plenty of pics out there topless and nude and clothes pegs in her hair, I just feel sorry for her kids.

SouthWestmom · 08/01/2017 09:46

In the letter she apparently sent to The Guardian she basically says it's all crap and made up and she has lied on Judge Rinder, This Morning etc and just wants to do a piece for them on why she felt the need to self publicise and make stuff up.

This woman seems very publicity hungry. I wonder how her fame seeking ways impact on her DC

I wonder if the producers of shows like This Morning think about why someone wants to appear on the show and any potential impact on family?

This person does seem publicity hungry and I have no doubt (like Hopkins) that it will have an effect on her DC.

Do they have any duty of care - or can they simply wash their hands?

amispartacus · 08/01/2017 10:51

Surely the person who owes a duty of care to the DC is their mother, not a tv show

It can be both, surely?

It seems like the TV show is exploiting someone who is also exploiting the media for publicity.

HalfShellHero · 08/01/2017 10:54

I saw a brilliant article on this on facebook from wales online basically tearing a strip of sanctimonious philip schofield, do you know what i would pay good money to get NRP deadbeat dads who systematically con the government in order to not pay CM, on that couch and let him grill them till they squirm , but they wont because its not sexist enough...

HalfShellHero · 08/01/2017 10:59

People are dying , getting sanctioned here there and everywhere, the level of homelessness has risen phenomenally in the last year...its disgraceful this kind of stuff us still being aired. We care much more about dealing with homophobia racism etc that elitism in this country.

I think the bottom line is that This Morning and Philip Schofield and all the researchers who find these people are paid to produce popular television.

In their eyes, this would have been a successful guest who generated lots of publicity.

It's not 'elitism', it's fuckwittery.
