mylittlephony that's mine too. Nothing beats that.

wideboy26 · 06/01/2017 23:09

Roasting coffee beans, coffee brewing.

My grandad had one of those odd grandad-type sayings: "Smells like a lot of broken glass, son". Usually when somebody had made a very anti-social bodily smell.

FlyingElbows · 06/01/2017 23:10

Horses and tack rooms full of beautiful clean tack (all hung up properly). I wish Yankee made that candle.

Mrsmadevans · 06/01/2017 23:10

No smell like a babys smell its magical

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/01/2017 23:11

Kittens and cats, especially their paws.

Benedikte2 · 06/01/2017 23:12

Freshly ground coffee, methylated spirits, ether, nail polish, my cat's fur, fresh herbs, lavender plants, When I was young walking through town my DM had to drag me past pub cellar doors in the street because I loved the warm malty/hoppy smell of the beer.

Tartyflette · 06/01/2017 23:14

Going out very early in the cool of the morning on a lovely summer's day when it's been very hot for a while.
Freshly ground coffee.
A beautiful crisp but fine autumn morning with a hint of woodsmoke in the air.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/01/2017 23:21

A new carpet.
A new car inside.
Creosote.
Permanent marker pen.

ChestnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 06/01/2017 23:21

Creosote.

Leirope · 06/01/2017 23:24

I read this yesterday --and it made me cry because hormones.

"When perfectly dry, his flesh sweet and pure with the exquisite lustre imparted by the bath and friction, he is the most kissable object in nature."

Bubbinsmakesthree · 06/01/2017 23:26

Literally the thing I am most looking forward to about imminent arrival of DC2 is getting another hit of newborn smell.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/01/2017 23:28

Paint
Carpet shops
Kittens. (The smell like candy floss)
Blown out candles
Lavender
Sunflowers perfume
Newly cut grass
Books, magazines
Bread being baked.

Graphista · 06/01/2017 23:32

"Creosote" me too! Thought I was weird for this

Body shop used to do a lovely tea rose perfume in the 80's

Brasso Blush long story!

The poster who said they'd never get to smell newborn baby again can I ask why? I'm guessing your own children getting older? But there's also grandchildren and nieces and nephews and friends children.

bestofboth · 06/01/2017 23:42

The argos catalogue
The old dance mat I had when I was a kid that was probably some sort of toxic plastic but I loved the smell everytime we got it out of the box

MummyPigLovesAppleSauce · 06/01/2017 23:48

Winter morning Zoflora!

KayTee87 · 06/01/2017 23:51

Ohh except a baby fresh out the packaging. Mine is 5 mo and I remember how lovely he smelled, it was addictive. I still sniff him constantly now. May have licked his head when he was a couple of days oldBlush

wigglesrock · 06/01/2017 23:53

Suncream, coffee and turf are my favourites.
I never got the whole new baby/baby smell thing and I've had three Grin

Crispbutty · 07/01/2017 00:34

I'm adding to my list..

Pears soap

Turps and paint (my dad was a decorator and I can remember being very little and the smell on his overalls when he picked me up as he came home from work )

The smell of a brand new vinyl album as you took it out of the sleeve

Play-doh

The smell of rain after a really hot day then a thunderstorm

Zoflorabore · 07/01/2017 00:35

Winter morning zoflora is divine! I'm stocking up now before they leave us until next Christmas :(

For the poster who would love Yankee to create her favourite smell, I was thinking the exact same thing about petrol.

If I'm allowed one more- the smell of Costa/Starbucks etc which is totally bizarre as I've never drank coffee in my life.

Crispbutty · 07/01/2017 00:39

I love the smell of Subway but the sandwiches are never as good as the smell!

user1471545174 · 07/01/2017 00:40

New dolls in their packaging.

New car interior smell.

I realise these are just horrible chemicals but I love them Smile

Deadsouls · 07/01/2017 00:44

A baby's head

charlestrenet · 07/01/2017 00:46

Oh newborn smell is the best. Happy sniffing, OP. When they get a bit older, toddlers after a day at the beach who have fallen asleep in the car are also worth a sniff.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/01/2017 00:49

Oh yes, the baby smell and even little toddlers.
My 17yo has passed through the Smelly Child stage to blossom as Teen Boy (shower/toothpaste/deoderant smell of a teen)

Horses neck under their mane when you groom them
My guinea-pigs in hay
That stuff to clean brass in the wadding./cotton wool stuff in a tin
Swarfega
Buddleigha (sp) flowers

And (only old gimmers will relate) when the teacher used to go and photocopy and brought back fresh printed sheets .............ahh the smell, we inhaled

ghostwatch · 07/01/2017 01:01

Mylittlephoney me too I lived in a pub and that smell is part of my childhood and I have the same weird grievance for old fashioned pub smell
