Just read this article

www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/outraged-man-asks-tesco-to-ban-disgusting-shoppers-from-wearing-pyjamas/ar-BBxVcVl?ocid=spartandhp

Wearing PJs in Tesco's should be banned because its offensive and making people feel uncomfortable, Ridiculous. Not sure about you but I generally don't find anything threatening or to be worried about by people in PJs? I cant see that its indecent either; I doubt people are parading down the isles in skimpy Lingerie this time of year. Even if they were there is nothing wrong with the human body. This isn't Calvinist Geneva or Taliban controlled Kandahar. Some people are offended by or feel uneasy around Goths, Clowns, Women in niqab or burka, Transsexuals, people in football shirts etc. It doesn't mean that their personal hang ups should restrict other peoples freedom of dress. People are so easily offended these days.

Anyone else offended by people in PJs in Tesco?

I didn't know either up to now. And was also quite sad when I saw the thread wasn't accepting new comments.

HorridHenryrule · 09/01/2017 20:46

I mean, there's so much shit going on. And here we can have spirited mud slingings debates about pyjamas.

Totally agree only on mumsnet you can get that nowhere else.

CaraAspen · 09/01/2017 21:54

"Tapandgo

namechanger regardless of your depression, there will be places that will not admit you wearing bedwear. It is a fact. There will be people looking at you too - specifically because your are in inappropriate clothes for the task in hand - and yes, there may well be judgements attached.
Best slip into tracksuit/ trousers instead of PJ's to avoid all the issues that can make life extra complicated."

And it is ridiculously easy to pull on some relaxed clothing. In fact. It would probably be morale-boosting.

Not when you have no other clean clothing because you haven't done any of your own washing for a fortnight. Because you have no energy and don't care about how you look, and all your energy is going towards ensuring the fact that you don't really care if you live or die has as little impact on your DC as possible. In that scenario, finding clean PJs to put on, having actually washed yourself, can feel like a fucking massive achievement. Bonus points if they actually look like trackies so judgemental fucktards don't notice.

WaitrosePigeon · 09/01/2017 23:16

Fucktards = fucking retards?

CesareBorgiasUnicornMask · 09/01/2017 23:19

I've always thought of it as fucking bastards, tbh, but if you like Hmm. 'Retards' is not a word I tend to use though...

WaitrosePigeon · 09/01/2017 23:37

I'm glad you meant bastards!

1horatio · 09/01/2017 23:42

Isn't bastard also quite awful? (Not as awful as retard, obviously. But still... historically. Idk, I don't like the word)

HorridHenryrule · 09/01/2017 23:54

I said it when I was younger to my cousin I didn't realise how offensive it was until he tried to kill me.

CesareBorgiasUnicornMask · 09/01/2017 23:56

Well the beauty of that particular portmanteau is that if it offends you you can always choose to interpret it as fucking dastards, custards, leotards...

CesareBorgiasUnicornMask · 09/01/2017 23:57

Although fucking custard sounds quite unpleasant tbh.

1horatio · 09/01/2017 23:58

Uh, henry? :0

i meant the term bastard in general. But leotard is a good word to say when I want to swear around DD. Thanks 👍

CesareBorgiasUnicornMask · 10/01/2017 00:02

I started saying shi... ver me timbers when DS was around. Unfortunately he repeats it as 'shitter me tits'. The best laid plans...

HorridHenryrule · 10/01/2017 00:03

Sorry I was talking about Waitrose first suggestion fucking ret. my cousin was offended. I was young and all the kids at school said it I thought nothing of it.

CaraAspen · 10/01/2017 00:13

"WaitrosePigeon

Fucktards = fucking retards?"

Yep.

CaraAspen · 10/01/2017 00:15

Apparently you can use "tards" if you wish but the meaning is the same.

CaraAspen · 10/01/2017 00:16

It is a proper word for illegitimate.

hungryhippo90 · 10/01/2017 00:21

Late to the party, I don't wear my jimmies out, and I'd usually kind of raise an eyebrow at those who do, but I feel a bit sad at the thought of it being banned.

The jimmies and nightgown look may not be great, but atleast this is more modest that some of the outfits people could wear?

I just feel like if people's privates are covered, then why not?

The only thing that makes me shudder is the idea of people not having undies on underneath... seems a bit. I dunno. Close?

BastardGoDarkly · 10/01/2017 01:26

mummy did you say Morrison's for nappies? Thought you were in America? Confused surely it's Walmart for daipers?

1horatio · 10/01/2017 15:06

Btw, the women said that pyjama wearing was their culture? Confused

Can somebody help me out here?

mereswinesaliva · 10/01/2017 15:09

@1horatio

I was confused by that story too.

I wasn't sure if it was their culture to do this or if they meant they were only being picked on for doing this because of their culture (implying other people can wear PJs in public with impunity).

spacebluebird · 11/01/2017 08:49

I find that the solution to not getting judged by others over wearing your sleepwear to the supermarket.... is to not get changed into your PJs in the first place. www.usualbreakfast.com/single-post/2017/01/09/Slummy-mummy
