Just read this article

Wearing PJs in Tesco's should be banned because its offensive and making people feel uncomfortable, Ridiculous. Not sure about you but I generally don't find anything threatening or to be worried about by people in PJs? I cant see that its indecent either; I doubt people are parading down the isles in skimpy Lingerie this time of year. Even if they were there is nothing wrong with the human body. This isn't Calvinist Geneva or Taliban controlled Kandahar. Some people are offended by or feel uneasy around Goths, Clowns, Women in niqab or burka, Transsexuals, people in football shirts etc. It doesn't mean that their personal hang ups should restrict other peoples freedom of dress. People are so easily offended these days.

Anyone else offended by people in PJs in Tesco?

Another who is not "offended" but would judge massively.

However, I live on the outskirts of a large city and shop in a supermarket in a less then salubrious area I have never seen this.

Jellybean83 · 05/01/2017 18:32

Not offended but yes I do think it's lazy and scruffy. That pair look fucking ridiculous.

goose1964 · 05/01/2017 18:34

I once went in my pj bottoms because they were the only clean dry trousers I had, but they look like yoga pants so I thought I got away with it, wouldn't do it in my fleecy winter pjs

Salmotrutta · 05/01/2017 18:34

I'm like the person up thread who doesn't even like answering the door in pjs and dressing gown.
It does sometimes happen when I'm on holiday and being a bit lazy about getting on with the day but I'm always mortified if someone rings the doorbell and I have to peer round the door in my nightwear!
I could never go out in my pjs and dressing gown!

JustCallMeKate · 05/01/2017 18:34

I've never understood the need to go shopping in PJ's tbh. Likewise, I never understand the trend for hanging around the school playground in PJ's. WTF is all that about? Every morning I see the parade of jammie clad mothers in Uggs dropping their children off then hanging about for a natter. I don't understand why they don't get dressed.

Trainspotting1984 · 05/01/2017 18:37

I have started seeing people in PJs near me and it upsets me because it means I live in a shit area :(

PidgeyfinderGeneral · 05/01/2017 18:37

I don't find it offensive, just odd and a bit chavvy.

StrangeLookingParasite · 05/01/2017 18:38

I think it's incredibly lazy, and a bit pathetic.

luckiestgirl · 05/01/2017 18:38

You're going to regret this thread OP. Mumsnet is strangely and pretty much unanimously dis(g)usted at pyjamas in public. I can't fathom it. It gives me the rage. I've got to stay off these threads.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 05/01/2017 18:38

Pyjamas are for lazing round the house and sleeping. Not doing a shop or school run. I would judge the wearer to be lazy and possibly grubby.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 05/01/2017 18:39

I'm not offended by it and have worn pjs to a shop myself on occasion (but with a long skirt covering them, so nobody can see I am in them) if I am cooking and realise I have run out of a particular ingredient, etc, but I do find it perplexing the number of people in the daytime who rock up to the shops in their jimjams. In the evening perhaps it's forgiveable, but in the middle of the day - it's laziness, possibly. I even saw a whole family in Tesco last week at 4pm wearing dressing gowns and pjs. It's the middle of the winter, how are they not cold?

cherrycrumblecustard · 05/01/2017 18:40

When did it start? I was idly wondering this today when I was walking the dog and saw someone in pyjamas.

I'm thinking maybe 2011-ish it started to become quite a common sight?

eddiemairswife · 05/01/2017 18:41

I remember going out and getting the bus in my pyjamas. In my defence ...I was at university, it was Rag Week and we were pushing a bed through the city centre.

pictish · 05/01/2017 18:41

No I'm not. I couldn't care less because it impacts on my day not a single jot.

I have argued the toss about this on facebook already today. I asked several people who had said it was disrespectful, embarrassing, disgusting etc exactly why they felt it affected them personally and adversely. No one had anything to say that could explain their outrage.

People just like having something to sneer at imo. Pyjamas in Tesco certainly doesn't faze me.

Trifleorbust · 05/01/2017 18:42

Lazy and chavvy, yes, but really not my business.

Trainspotting1984 · 05/01/2017 18:43

"Fortnum and Mason/Harrods. Twinset and pearls.

Waitrose/M&S. Designer wear.

Sainsbury/Tesco. smart casual.

Morrison/Asda. Hoodies, tracksuit, shell suits trainers etc

Aldi/Lidl. Pjs. Underwear optional. Unfettered boobs there are positively de rigueur"

You have your supermarkets all mixed up Grin PJ are asda, Iceland and farm goods. People who shop
In M&S don't wear designer. They wear M&S

Fallonjamie · 05/01/2017 18:43

Incredibly lazy, I bet they've had them on for days too.

Crinkle77 · 05/01/2017 18:44

It's not offensive but it is incredibly lazy. I have been out in my pj top but stuck a coat over it so no one would see. I changed the pants at the very least.

Tartyflette · 05/01/2017 18:44

People of Walmart. Enjoy. (Or not)

AIBU Tesco shoppers in PJs 'Disgusting' REALLY?
nikiforov · 05/01/2017 18:45

This is hilarious. Why do you all seem to think PJs are dirty? They're no dirtier than wearing a shirt two days in a row, unless your bed is manky? I go out in my jimjams sometimes because I'm lazy, permanently exhausted and don't care what people think of me :D

Newtssuitcase · 05/01/2017 18:45

As well as judging I would also think it attention seeking. It's that "Look at me, I can do whatever I want" attitude

galaxygirl45 · 05/01/2017 18:45

It isn't disgusting. Just lazy. Chavvvvvvvvy. And a million other adjectives. If they can take the shame of walking around in their slobby PJ's, that's their choice. I would personally die of shame but that's me.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 05/01/2017 18:45

I judge too. I don't find it offensive or disgusting or even discusting. But it just looks rank. And the people doing it often have makeup and a hairdo that would have taken half an hour to achieve.

Stormwhale · 05/01/2017 18:45

To me it just screams, "look at me! I am so craaazy! I don't care what anyone thinks so I'm going to go out in pj's! I'm so cool!!" Erm, no. No you are not. You are a scummy douchebag.

moonchild77 · 05/01/2017 18:46

I'm offended by the way you've spelt disgusting.
