Wearing PJs in Tesco's should be banned because its offensive and making people feel uncomfortable, Ridiculous. Not sure about you but I generally don't find anything threatening or to be worried about by people in PJs? I cant see that its indecent either; I doubt people are parading down the isles in skimpy Lingerie this time of year. Even if they were there is nothing wrong with the human body. This isn't Calvinist Geneva or Taliban controlled Kandahar. Some people are offended by or feel uneasy around Goths, Clowns, Women in niqab or burka, Transsexuals, people in football shirts etc. It doesn't mean that their personal hang ups should restrict other peoples freedom of dress. People are so easily offended these days.

Anyone else offended by people in PJs in Tesco?

mummy Honestly, I don't get this.

The least you could do is put on some jeans/jeggins/whatever boots and a coat. And it would have at least looked appropriate? I mean, if you want to do that nobody is stopping you. But I personally wouldn't do it. And even more importantly, I wouldn't want to bring Tesco (or waitrose or whole foods) back to my bed. Clothes worn outside shouldn't be in my bed. Clothes worn in my bed? Not outside.

Purplealienpuke · 08/01/2017 19:42

Pj's are for in the house, as are house coats/dressing gowns! If theres a genuine reason you can't get shoes on your feet then slippers would be seen as almost acceptable imo. How anybody can think pj's are acceptable dress code for shopping is beyond me. There is a father at dgds school who thinks it's ok to drop her off in his onesie! NO NO NO!
Not offended just repulsed by it.

mummyof2pr is not happy with the replies on this thread, so she has started another one Grin

so much better than asking her posts to be removed to protect your privacy, at least someone has the courage of her opinion

Daydream007 · 08/01/2017 20:37

They are just lazy cannot be bothered types but it doesn't offend me.

Streuth · 08/01/2017 20:59

One word: stinky.

DireTires · 08/01/2017 21:17

Why start another thread, honestly wasn't it clear here why people felt one way or the other Confused

Seriously if you feel that strongly about wearing your pyjamas to the shop, just fucking do it, don't seek endorsement from random folks on the internet

mambono5 · 08/01/2017 21:21

Why start another thread because people are mean on this one Grin

DireTires · 08/01/2017 21:31

It's lucky that firefighters manage to find time to put on their protective gear before they go out to an emergency, since getting dressed is so difficult and time consuming.

I remember over ten years ago in my first flat. I lived just behind a police station. I'd gone on an early morning run one day (couldn't do it now) and came across an older lady in her silk nightie and dressing gown and I dont even remember if she had slippers on. Bless her it was freezing and she just kept offering me sweets.

I took her to the police station and when they finally answered the door (bank holiday). They thanked me and said her family had been frantic with worry all morning, she had dementia and they took her home.

If that happened nowadays I wonder if people would think twice about helping her because they wouldn't want them to think they were judging.

Sorry, but people will judge you when you're in PJ's. It's human nature to judge. There's millions of people on Mumsnet. They're not all going to agree with you.

There's a lady at my DCs school who always goes in teetering on high heels and dressed up to the nines who looks down on me but I dont dress as smartly because our school run often involves walking through woods! Grin

I have suffered from depression off and on for many years. If I was in a bad place, just wanted to sleep away everything, but decided that I would get up, shower, put on clean pjs and then felt good enough to brave the shops...I would be devastated if somebody suddenly took it upon themselves to start telling me off. Does that mean everyone in pjs has MH issues? Of course not. But before you start attacking someone for their clothing choices...none of which are your business...think about why you care so much.
Also, how do you know that the people wearing clothes didn't pass out in them the night before, having drunk too much, then decided to go out and buy bacon and eggs in the same rank clothes? It makes me so sad that everyone is so judgemental.

Tapandgo · 09/01/2017 18:08

namechanger regardless of your depression, there will be places that will not admit you wearing bedwear. It is a fact. There will be people looking at you too - specifically because your are in inappropriate clothes for the task in hand - and yes, there may well be judgements attached.
Best slip into tracksuit/ trousers instead of PJ's to avoid all the issues that can make life extra complicated.

MadMags · 09/01/2017 18:10

Honestly, if your depression allowed you to shower and change, but not into jogging bottoms and a hoodie, I'd think you were using it as an excuse...

StarkintheSouth · 09/01/2017 18:49

It's scruffy but I have a life so I'm not offended. I'm bemused at why anyone would do such a thing. I mean, your PJs are supposed to be nice cosy things that could easily get dirty when you start roaming around outside?!

HorridHenryrule · 09/01/2017 19:09

Don't worry namechanger Waitrose will accept people in pyjamas and dressing robes. Even your local co-op or sweet shop because who in their right mind are going to say no to your money. Its not like your going to work or to a funeral.

1horatio · 09/01/2017 19:11

horrid

Hi Henry :)

The other thread doesn't accept messages anymore :( just when we started talking about pyjamas and onesies again :(

HorridHenryrule · 09/01/2017 19:15

I know it was so nice talking about something so light hearted. There 10 pages here we can fill up before it gets to 40 and cuts off.

1horatio · 09/01/2017 19:21

Yes, exactly. The bum flaps 😂😂

I mean, there's so much shit going on. And here we can have spirited mud slingings debates about pyjamas.

mummyof2pr · 09/01/2017 19:26

@horridhenryrule @1horatio there's a 1000 post limit!!! I had no idea. So sad :(
