Just read this article

Wearing PJs in Tesco's should be banned because its offensive and making people feel uncomfortable, Ridiculous. Not sure about you but I generally don't find anything threatening or to be worried about by people in PJs? I cant see that its indecent either; I doubt people are parading down the isles in skimpy Lingerie this time of year. Even if they were there is nothing wrong with the human body. This isn't Calvinist Geneva or Taliban controlled Kandahar. Some people are offended by or feel uneasy around Goths, Clowns, Women in niqab or burka, Transsexuals, people in football shirts etc. It doesn't mean that their personal hang ups should restrict other peoples freedom of dress. People are so easily offended these days.

Anyone else offended by people in PJs in Tesco?

It's swanky in the extreme - but some people don't have even basic standards.

CaraAspen · 06/01/2017 20:25

It is just...

I am far more offended by men who go in supermarkets topless

I have never seen this happen.

YouHadMeAtCake · 06/01/2017 20:28

Yes, it's chavvy, scummy and lazy. How hard is it to throw some clothes on

I totally agree Libitina

Blacksox · 06/01/2017 20:29

I meant skanky, def not swanky!

CaraAspen · 06/01/2017 20:30

I imagine the pyjama wearers to be Vicky Pollard looky-likies. Can't think why.

PunkrockerGirl · 06/01/2017 20:40

I totally agree.

This!
Either they're the same pyjamas they've had on all night which is pretty disgusting or they're fresh pyjamas.... why couldn't they just put fresh clothes on?

GimmeeMoore · 06/01/2017 20:46

Pj in supermarkets is gross.am I offended,no.do I think it's gross,yes.very
I think it looks slovenly, dirty and gives impression couldn't be bothered getting dressed

Jojobythesea · 06/01/2017 20:50

Same as most PPs. Not offended just makes me think they are in a rush to get back to watch Jeremy Kyle or whatever other daytime crap is on...... Hmm

Headofthehive55 · 06/01/2017 21:22

I was unable to wear my day clothes easily, as they are generally unforgiving material and I can't bend my arm back sufficiently to actually get my arm in!
I don't have any long sleeved jersey tops....but several pairs of pjs, thus enabling comfort and access for my drains. They are just more comfortable - and I can get changed myself into fresh ones - which , for me, is preferable.

Mindtrope · 06/01/2017 21:39

So cold wearing pjs!!

I am at ho,me and it's too cold for pjs except in bed.

I am wearing jeans, fure bootee slippers, a camisole, long t shirt, woolen Icelandic sweater dress and a long cardigan.

How can people wear just pjs to a supermarket

Giddyaunt18 · 06/01/2017 22:01

I don't like it but it doesn't offend me. I just wonder what state your life is in to not bother to get dressed. There's the whole washed or unwashed thing and unwashed does offend me. There are comfy clothes out there, there is no need to wear your bed clothes outside.

Blu · 06/01/2017 22:22

Can anyone confirm whether this is a peculiarly women's thing, or are men turning up in Tesco in their wincyettes, too?

And if not, why not!

Either they're the same pyjamas they've had on all night which is pretty disgusting or they're fresh pyjamas

If you come across me in Tesco after work I will be wearing clothes that I have had on all day. Is this disgusting? I can't work out why pyjamas are unclean.

Giddyaunt18 · 06/01/2017 22:35

PJs aren't unclean but if you've been in them all night and day it suggests you haven't washed.

gunnergirl · 07/01/2017 00:15

I remember telling off a mum last year who came every day in pj to school and she looked like she had just got up in fact a teacher also had a word with her my ds would be so embarrassed if I did this

MommaGee · 07/01/2017 00:33

Gunner do you work at the school? Just wondering what gives you the right to "tell off" an adult who's doing something that doesn't affect you

NeedsAsockamnesty · 07/01/2017 00:38

Why would anybody think it was acceptable to tell off another adult, assuming they are breaking no laws and presentimg no risk and you are not their boss.

It is not your buisness

MommaGee · 07/01/2017 00:39

I honestly can't get over how judgmental and ridiculous some people are over this. People wearing pj's outside clearly don't bathe, work, have any self respect and their lives are apparently in chaos

Or they got in from work, put on clean pj's and couldn't be bothered to swap them again just to protect the delicate sensitivities of people who apparently nothing better to do with their lives than look down their noses at others.

I'd rather see someone in pj's covering everything that leggings showing their knickers, tops showing their boobs, jeans showing their pants / bum crack, clthoes reeking of cigarettes / BO (cos actually you can't tell who's had a shower from what they're wearing), someone being aggressive, swearing etc.

MommaGee · 07/01/2017 00:40

Blue surely you showered in your lunch break and changed underwear at least then put on clean clothes to travel home in before putting on clean at-home clothes after another shower???

Sweets101 · 07/01/2017 01:32

Ah Gunner how embarrassing, what on earth possessed you? I doubt your son's embarrassment could be any worse now whatever you turn up in

Headofthehive55 · 07/01/2017 08:09

Agree with "needs" you aren't dressed as I see fit so I shall look down upon you seems to be the nub of this thread.

And that reminds me of the girl who fought not to wear high heels at work - dressing as others see fit.

Please see through culture that only respects people by what they are wearing, e.g. Sexy clothes, labels etc.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 07/01/2017 08:28

I often meet my Gran in Waitrose for a catch up cuppa. If I walked in in my PJ's and dressing gown she'd hit the roof. My Mum and Dad would have also hit the roof if I had similarly met them in Asda/Tesco etc dressed the same. Nothing to do with snobbery it is because it just looks lazy and like you can't be arsed. I thought of this thread yesterday as I was coming back from the school run. Group of women at the top of the road, three of them in full PJ's and dressing gown combo. I do understand where some people are coming from post surgery, but then what is the likelihood that the three women walking home yesterday had all had surgery and that was their reason?

I was admitted to hospital five times last year. Every time and every morning. They made you get up washed and dressed. They didn't care if you got changed back into a clean pair of pyjamas. Just as long as you'd got up washed and dressed and sat out for a bit as it helps you both physically and mentally.

Middleoftheroad · 07/01/2017 08:48

I don't buy the theory that their lives are in chaos. I think it's just lazy/chavvy and has become normalised that it's OK to go out in slippers and PJs.

There's no way they've changed them either. They've been slept in

There was a dad who would go up the school every day in them (not just women) but I would never dream of telling him off for it!
