Just read this article

Wearing PJs in Tesco's should be banned because its offensive and making people feel uncomfortable, Ridiculous. Not sure about you but I generally don't find anything threatening or to be worried about by people in PJs? I cant see that its indecent either; I doubt people are parading down the isles in skimpy Lingerie this time of year. Even if they were there is nothing wrong with the human body. This isn't Calvinist Geneva or Taliban controlled Kandahar. Some people are offended by or feel uneasy around Goths, Clowns, Women in niqab or burka, Transsexuals, people in football shirts etc. It doesn't mean that their personal hang ups should restrict other peoples freedom of dress. People are so easily offended these days.

Anyone else offended by people in PJs in Tesco?

Do adults actually sleep in pyjamas?

I don't and I don't own any anyway, which is one reason why I can't see why the wearing of one certain type of garment should be so widely judged - it wouldn't occur to me that they have slept in the pyjamas - to me they are just thin, pale coloured, patterned trousers - I wouldn't wear them outside because I would usually be cold.

I have 'lounging pants' (black yoga type trousers) that I put on when i get up and take off when I get dressed. I would almost always get changed before going out but on the odd occasion I might have just thrown a coat on over them if I wanted to go to the local shop to get milk for example.

But that would be OK because they don't look like pyjamas, even though I'm not washed and properly dressed. The assumptions people are making about the pyjama wearers have no logical basis.

Charlieiscool · 06/01/2017 10:02

ghostwatch in your earlier post it sounded like you shuffled around in pj's during your night shift and kept them on for buying lunch stuff, school runs etc. before going to bed. Now you say you are a nurse. I must have misunderstood.

MuseumOfCurry · 06/01/2017 10:02

I have about 8 pairs of cotton leggings from the Gap and I wear them with old jumpers. That's my version of PJs.

ClarenceTheAngel · 06/01/2017 10:04

I have some gorgeous pyjamas . I would probably look smarter in them than my normal clothes😃. I really can't get all hot and bothered about people wearing pjs to supermarket, school run etc. Their choice to do so has absolutely no impact on the way I go about my business. Quite frankly, I have bigger things to get disgusted about.

peanut2017 · 06/01/2017 10:04

Doesn't offend me but don't understand how you can't bother to thrown on clothes / track suit to go to the shops! Doesn't take long to do

Olympiathequeen · 06/01/2017 10:11

It's grim. They should be banned. People wandering around in pjs clearly haven't washed and dressed. It's the lack of washing that is

Olympiathequeen · 06/01/2017 10:13

Vile

BarbaraofSeville · 06/01/2017 10:17

How do you know the people with pyjamas on haven't washed?

How do you know that the people with clothes on have? Many of them won't have.

MuseumOfCurry · 06/01/2017 10:17

Quite frankly, I have bigger things to get disgusted about.

Discusted.

CaraAspen · 06/01/2017 10:17

People who do it are idiots. Somebody has already said that and it's an appealing way to describe them. So try to ignore the idiots. Any of them. All of them.

EthelEgbert · 06/01/2017 10:22

Museum It's disgusted! Not discusted.

EthelEgbert · 06/01/2017 10:23

Or were you making a joke. Sorry if you were.

WaitrosePigeon · 06/01/2017 10:23

Please tell me you are just joking Museum, please?

CaraAspen · 06/01/2017 10:23

"lollylou2876

Dressing gowns haven't got anything on the Walmart crew! - At least we don't live in America smile"

Really? I thought we had a lot of American posters on this thread, given the way some use the word "pajamas"instead of pyjamas.

CaraAspen · 06/01/2017 10:26

I think it is noteworthy that you don't see those characters in Waitrose or
M&S. I haven't ever seen one, anywhere. Thank goodness.

YouTheCat · 06/01/2017 10:27

I'd rather be 'discustard'. Grin

If you go shopping in your pjs that you have worn to sleep in then you're a dirty minger. If you go shopping in pjs but they are clean and you've washed why the fuck didn't you just put on some joggers and a hoodie?

Either way you look like a dick.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 06/01/2017 10:30

we need to be allowed to bitch and judgemental about someone in this day and age- surely!!!

so I salute the PJ wearers, and I enjoy silently judging them

Thanks, and add on a slightly greying fleecy fessing gown, please!

Lateralthinker2016 · 06/01/2017 10:31

People who do this are chavs/idiots?? Wtf?!!! Firstly, there are more important issues in the world, 2, it's only gross if you don't change all day and then wear them back in bed (hygiene reasons),3, i'd find it more disGusting if they were naked.... Just be glad they had something on Grin
Pigeon holing= judgmental, and for the record, when I had my dd back in April, I dropped my kids to school in the car in my PJs, and popped into the corner shop (just put a long coat over the top).... So that makes me an idiot/chav/ disgusting person?! LOL.

CaraAspen · 06/01/2017 10:35

As for nurses in uniforms shopping after work, I imagined that was something they were not supposed to be doing. Isn't it normal for people who wear uniforms to change out of them before leaving work? Not doing so is lazy and sloppy. As for the long shift excuse, you are not alone; other people work equally long hours etc etc. I just don't get that mentality.

Do adults actually sleep in pyjamas?

Good god yes.

MuseumOfCurry · 06/01/2017 10:54

Please tell me you are just joking Museum, please?

Yes, I was joking. Wink

AwaywiththePixies27 · 06/01/2017 10:57

Whatever happened to 'it's only a snippet of their lives, you don't know what they have going on, they might have depression/special needs/a terminally ill relative' etc etc etc that is normally used as a reason for justifying less than ideal behaviour on here?

Barbara I have severe depression (being treated) and have a son with SNs. I often wear PJ's around the house. I've never once thought it acceptable to go out in my PJs and haven't gone further than my front garden on bin day in my pyjamas. Even on bin day I still put a coat on over.

Waltermittythesequel · 06/01/2017 10:57

Ghost, turning up to your dc's school in pyjamas is disgraceful.

If I worked in the school I'd assume you weren't coping or that you didn't really care and are dragging up your kids.

As has been said a million times; leggings/yoga pants/joggers are just as comfortable and just as quick to put on and off.

Sweets101 · 06/01/2017 11:01

I can't tell the difference between pj's, lounge wear, hareem trousers, vests/t shirts/hoodies that are day wear and those that are bedtime specific.
And I have no interest in learning.
