Just read this article

www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/outraged-man-asks-tesco-to-ban-disgusting-shoppers-from-wearing-pyjamas/ar-BBxVcVl?ocid=spartandhp

Wearing PJs in Tesco's should be banned because its offensive and making people feel uncomfortable, Ridiculous. Not sure about you but I generally don't find anything threatening or to be worried about by people in PJs? I cant see that its indecent either; I doubt people are parading down the isles in skimpy Lingerie this time of year. Even if they were there is nothing wrong with the human body. This isn't Calvinist Geneva or Taliban controlled Kandahar. Some people are offended by or feel uneasy around Goths, Clowns, Women in niqab or burka, Transsexuals, people in football shirts etc. It doesn't mean that their personal hang ups should restrict other peoples freedom of dress. People are so easily offended these days.

Anyone else offended by people in PJs in Tesco?

Holiday, do you realise how ridiculous you're sounding?

Are you sure the chap wasn't in the ready-made pie aisle?

Bluntness100 · 05/01/2017 22:28

I'd (genuinely this time) rather have a supermarket full of skanky, chavvy, pj wearing women, than ever coming across a bloke who starts masturbating next to me in the ready meal aisle (again?

HolidaySpiritsReinbeerAndWhine · 05/01/2017 22:38

happynewyearchum ok sure. Glad to know where the ridiculous line is Smile. I'm glad it gave you a laugh as well, I didn't find it so funny myself. Calling women every name under the sun is a-ok if they don't live up to your standards though, absolutely fair enough. It's easy to say all these things behind a computer screen, I know you'd never confront a dirty chav about their awful faux pas in real life. Oh, perhaps you guys should start a 'I'm Spartacus' thing, but for wearing proper clothes in supermarkets? You could have a petition and everything, make your first world issues sound actually important and a worthy debate?

happynewyearchum · 05/01/2017 22:44

It's chavvy to confront a chav.

Also, no one said they were women... Hmm

FizzySweeties · 05/01/2017 22:47

Holiday I do get what you're saying, in as much as PJs to supermarket might not be to everyone's taste but there's no need to rip them to shreds in terms of class or whatever.

However some of what you say does come across as... slightly immature. To compare PJ wearing shoppers to wanking men in terms of this thread... it's completely incomparable.

I think the essence of your point is that it's one thing not to like it and another to make all kinds of negative/critical judgements/stereotyping about the people who do it, which is a kind viewpoint. Unfortunately your argument contains negative/critical judgements/stereotyping of its own, which weakens your point considerably. If you made your point without making stereotypes of your own, your main point would definitely come across better.

1horatio · 05/01/2017 22:48

Does it really make them a 'chav'? Who knows, maybe they're just eccentric;) Or different...

I'm not a fan of the look and wouldn't go to the supermarket in pyjamas/'loungewear' but these are just personal standards. It's not like they're harming anybody.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 05/01/2017 22:53

Do I take it you don't care either if anyone notices your inability to punctuate correctly?

You assume correctly Cara

I find in real life people do not really care about the punctuation of people with neurological disabilities, did you know these days they can have really great jobs and pay people to do that sort of stuff for them (if they are not their own boss their actual boss can facilitate that) it's really modern.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 05/01/2017 22:54

I spent a lot of my time in my home in my PJ's. Will answer the door to amazon/postman/joe bloggs in PJ's. I am dressed when official people visit though. Nurses/DSs professionals/family.

Wouldn't dream of wearing my PJ's to any sort of supermarket but then I haven't been able to pick my jaw up off the floor or hoik my judgy pants back up since a mum came sauntering into a parent share one day in PJ's and a fluffy dressing gown. They had done their hair and make up though so I'm assuming time wasn't the problem.

HolidaySpiritsReinbeerAndWhine · 05/01/2017 22:55

happynewyearchum, I may have missed something but all examples I have seen on this thread seem to refer to women/mothers. I don't really care to go through 12 pages to be certain, I've already spent more time on this thread than was worth the bother. There really are much worse things that go on than people wearing pjs to supermarkets, but can understand why others don't like it. I still don't see the need for such name calling though. I don't understand why anyone would have more than a passing thought on the matter, it really is just not worth the energy.

Obviously, going by this thread, a lot of people do like thinking less of others and that's totally their perogative to do so. Perhaps home shopping is the future, that way people can collect their shopping in whatever way they choose to without fear of their poor eyes being offered or ruining a naice pair of slippers.

HappyGirlNow · 05/01/2017 22:57

It's 'disgusting' not 'discusting'

And yes, going to Tesco in your PJs is ridiculous and cringey and chavvy.

frauleinsallybowles · 05/01/2017 22:58

PrincessFiorimonde · 05/01/2017 23:00

NeedsAsockamnesty Grin good for you!

paxillin · 05/01/2017 23:01

I assumed day clothes are the alternative to pyjamas. If the alternative is wanking in the meat aisle I'll take pjs of course, Holiday.

HolidaySpiritsReinbeerAndWhine · 05/01/2017 23:05

Fizzy I made the comparison because I believe the wearing pjs to a shop is such a none issue, I used a comparison that was admittedly too far in the other direction. It doesn't change the fact that the former is a none issue- it harms absolutely no one. My previous comments served only to contrast the sweeping and generalisation of the awful pyjama wearer, but I realise that did not read as such, fair enough.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/01/2017 23:09

Yes its chavvy, and. Yes its bone idol, but. Its also not a crime. If people want to walk around looking ridiculous. That's their choice.

You can't have random people or supermarkets dictating what people can and can't wear.

Dizzybintess · 05/01/2017 23:10

I had maxillofacial surgery two days ago and my right cheek looks like that of a rabid hamster and I'm off my face on a cocktail of drugs and still under the effects of sedation.... I ran out of lady products today so had to nip to the shop..... there is no way on gods earth I could have gone in my PJs it's just wrong!
I pulled on some leggings and a jumper and uggs and wrapped my malformed noggin up in a scarf!

That's what you should do when poorly not drag your carcas round asda in an egg stained snoopy PJs and yeti slippers!

Trainspotting1984 · 05/01/2017 23:15

Needsasockammesty
The most interesting thing from your story is though- WHAT DID YOU WEAR TO WORK?! If you were forced to wear your sisters present home?!

ghostwatch · 05/01/2017 23:18

Ive actually not seen anyone on pjs in the supermarket except for all the staff on "charity event" days ? If I did see someone in pjs randomly shopping can't say I'd give toss ? judgemental people piss me off way more than pjs

Dizzybintess · 05/01/2017 23:21

There was a man in my town centre recently who had gone around all the shops in PJS and a really stained dressing gown. He was standing by the bus stop with several bags vaping. A one shop trip is sometimds slightly understandable at 6am or for a 2am calpol run, but to wander around Iceland, WH Smith's, boots and peacocks!! Hmm

Supermarkets have every right to expect shoppers NOT to be wearing nightwear. Why should normal shoppers have to come into contact with weirdos who do not get dressed to go out in public?

TheCakes · 05/01/2017 23:25

Wait. What's wrong with flip flops??!!!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/01/2017 23:27

But that's their business Cara. Other people aren't that important to me where I give a shit what they wear. They can walk around stark naked with a leaf to cover their modesty for all care. I probably wouldn't notice anyway.

I just don't get why it offends people.
But That's me. Of course we're all different.

cherrycrumblecustard · 05/01/2017 23:28

Thinking about this I suppose pyjamas are comfortable, easy to wash and dry. I think that post about gym clothes was an interesting one.
